there is a difference between absorption and intake. soil quality is 10x less nutrient dense than it was 100 years ago. processed food is the enemy. nature raised meat is more nutritious than any whole food.
Thank you so much Dr Micheal Greger you have helped so many return their health including me. I'm just curious is there a canadian equivalent of your work? Or is there any way for a average person like myself to find out how the Canadian system works? Does Canada follow the FDA's lead?
How is Dr. Greger 46 years old but looks like he's in his 60's? I look at how the Dr looks or person giving his advice because proof is in how you look. I don't think Dr. Greger is climbing a mountain anytime soon.
I have been vegan for eight years and I can attest to the miraculous advantages of veganism. Dr Greger and his indisputable facts cannot be argued with and yet people continue their old worn out tired excuses for meat eating and a crappy diet all the way around. There are so many sick people now in the not too distant future there will be no healthy people left to pay for all the medical intervention. Just do the simple math.
Well done, Michael, for your sound advice in eating natural foods naturally. It is also commendable that you have gone to the trouble of adding subtitles in 16 languages so far (thank you Barbara Leable for the excellent subtitles in English for hearing-impaired folk like me! lol). Thank you.
OK, so he's a believer in veganism and his agenda is to promote same. I don't agree because history and science doesn't fully support his views against consumption of animal protein. Humans may well have eaten lots more vegetable foods in history than they do now. But, they also didn't have the incredible processing, sugar-lacing, and altering of the nature of the foods that we have today. (They didn't strip all the good from a grain and then replenish the good with artificial sprays of nutrients, for example.)
They also ate meat and fish, and eggs! What we need is to put common sense back into our education about nutrition, and we need to figure out how to better feed 8 billion people without ruining the food first. Other than that, if Dr. Greger wakes people up to what healthy food is (which does include animal proteins which we've eaten for time out of mind) then this is good.
As for his delivery, honestly I had a hard time listening to his sing-songy, follow-the-bouncing-ball, up and down style of delivery and his tendency to mumble or swallow parts of sentences all of which hangs the listener up or causes excess strain in listening. Good delivery in speech involves maintaining a consistent level of projection, and sufficient volume, even if the pitch changes. There are many links and videos available on the internet that can help with this.

🤦🏻♂️if this is how you think it works then you need to do some more research. Carbohydrates and vegetable oils are the cause of the inflammation that causes heart disease, not cholesterol. Cholesterol is necessary for healthy arteries.
i am from africa...i felt like the statement he made at the begining of lecture about how we live on plant based diet here but neglected that we also eat a lot of meat too such as beef, chicken , sea food which are large parts of our diets too. so when he mentioned that in uganda they dont have high cases of heart disease because they on plant based diets just had me raising my eyebrows made it seem like we bunch of vegans over here.
More interesting is the BBC documentary "Should I eat meat?" with Dr Michael Mosley. He shows that you should eat 30g of red meat, every day, as much white meat as you like and zero gram of processed meat. This is very far from the conclusion of Dr Greger. Dr Gregors problem is that vegans don't seem to have lower all cause death risk. Why processed meat is so bad for humans is still not known, but it is almost as bad as smoking. Me personally follow Dr Michael Mosleys recommendations, in addition I take vitamin b12, d, magnesium and omega 3 as supplements. I also try to get some exercise by bicycling, jogging and walking. I also do intermittent fasting every day to stay lean. I also try to stay away from sugar and other fast burning carbs, and try to get lots of proteins in my diet. None of these things is very difficult to do, as long as you don't do it 100%, then its very difficult, but each one represents the minimum needed to live a healthy life, and I could have done more, and thereby being even healthier, but I go for the minimum change needed.
Well, if a plant based diet includes moderate amount of fish, dairy and meat, then it makes sense, and this is what I eat also, but I think most people think of a plant based diet as a diet with food from plants.
"A plant-based diet is a diet based on foods derived from plants, including vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, legumes and fruits, but with few or no animal products."
There are various studies and guidelines that recommend several servings of fish a week. I am not aware of any saying we should eat white meat. In any case, white meat is not red meat. However, by definition, a few animal foods can be included in a plant based diet
If Dr Gregors means "mostly plant based" when he says "plant based" then the results where significant, but if he means you should go vegan, than the results was almost significant. Another problem for Dr Gregors is that there are very many studies showing that you should eat white meat and fish, its very good for you.
Yes but the Adventist 2 mortality study results were statistically significant. Are we talking at cross purposes? I was referring to the Adventist 2 mortality study. Were you referring to some other study?
In Dr. GREGER PREVIOUS VIDEO HE DESCRIBES HOW OVER THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE AND THOUSANDS OF STUDIES THEORY WAS NO SIGNIFICANT DIFFERENCES BETWEEN VEGANS ANDROID MEAT EATERS IN DYING FROM THE MAJOR CISEASES. PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY THIS IS SO? I NEED TO KNOW SO I HAVE TRUE SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE TO FOLLOW A DIET THAT IS WORTH THE DIFFERENCES.
Thanks Tom that helps, however the large studies he referred to are still valid also. The Seven Day Adventist also do not smoke or use alcohol. So that study has confounded problems. Meaning either or both of these things could be why they live longer. I personally have known (6) 90 year olds that were meat eaters. Correlation does not mean causation. I do care what anyone eats. I just like good research. I personally was vegetarian for three years and became diabetic. I went to low carb high fat diet and stabilized my blood sugar. But I did prefer the vegetarian fruit and nuts. It just did not work for me. I also had an aunt who was vegan all her life. She died when she was 60 years old. Her sister a meat eater lived to be 93. I also had an uncle who lived to be 99. He ate a lot of dairy and meat. He was a dairy farmer. Nutrition can be a very confusing field with advocates in each camp. Both put forth correlational data to prove their point. Even to the point of becoming zealots. Thanks again for attempting to explain, but for me he still promoted several research studies that found no difference between thousands of meat eaters and vegetarians. It is still c orrelational studies with many confounds in. Good luck in trying to fend off the grim reaper. At least both camps are trying to improve health.
The previous video you refer to was of a presentation Greger made in 2003. Since then, the ;large 7th Day Adventist mortality study showed that vegetarians have lower mortaity risk than meat eaters and male vegans had the lowest relative mortality risk of all

I was recently asked "if you could only show a non-vegan one video to encourage them to explore veganism, which would it be?" I said Forks Over Knives, others said Conspiracy, some said Earthlings. If I'd seen this then, I think I would have answers with this video. The animals suffer immensely, but not everyone's ready for that. The environment is vital to all life, but not everyone can accept that. But tell someone who much healthier they're gonna be and they'll live longer and better (I get less pain and need less insulin now after two months of plant-based) and it appeals to their self-preservation and can provide a great "in" to get them thinking about it. The rest can follow from that, but I think once a person is invested in the diet for themselves, they can get used to that, and from there they can get to exploring the more "lifestyle" side of it, regarding the ethics and environmentalism. Stellar lecture, Dr Greger, damn stellar.

Whole grains, legumes, and soy are filed with lectins (toxins released by plants to repel insects) that are toxic to most people. The Plant Paradox by Dr. Gundry explains this. A plant based diet is best but not all plants are the same and some are better than other (eg leafy greens and cruciferous vegetables (good) vs night shades (bad although some can be ok if peeled and deseeded). Some of these foods can still be consumed if they are prepared properly by pressure cooking (legumes), peeling (nightshades), and/or fermentation (certain grains).
That book is misleading but hey, if it makes Dr Gundry a few bucks, who cares?
Incredible that this talk is subtitled in many languages! I'm from Mexico and my parents, granmas and many other relatives have been suffering from some of this diseases, so thank you very much for making this available for non speaking english people. We are deeply and eternaly grateful!!

sadly almost no one reports those studies and conclusions in french speaking countries, and I assume it is the same with other languages. Medias, politics and industry just dont want people to know how animal based diet can kill you. Because it makes so much money, although treating poeple for what they used to eat also costs a lot of money to patients and health care systems. The world is upside down and moving backwards. Luckily my English is not too bad but not everyone can understand. It is time to actually step into the 21st century. Saving animals will also save people, not even speaking about pollution and global warming related to animal exploitation. Just go vegan as much as long as you can, give that Earth a chance to die way later, and not because we made money more important than life itself. Let spread the word in every languages.
I WAS 15 YEARS ON MY HEART MEDS (which early on I started taking at self imposed half dosage due to side effects including internal bleeding) INCLUDING LOW DOSE ASPERIN AND BLOOD THINNERS. DUE TO CONTINUAL INTERNAL BLEEDING IN THE PAST YEAR I QUIT MY MEDS AND HAVE BEEN ACTIVELY PURSING A VEGATABLE BASED DIET AND THE CHANGE HAS BEEN AMAZING. I HAVE YET TO HERE FROM MY DOCTOR AS TO WHY IM NOT GETTING MY PRESCRIPTIONS FILLED AS I WAS 15 YEARS DOING. I HAVE 3 STENTS PUT IN ME SINCE 2000.

Beggers can't be choosers... I would love to be able to afford a vegan diet for the rest of my entire life! I'm unemployed, though, and don't see any way to ever make that happen. It really a fucked up situation to be in. To know you can do so much better but, have your own God delighting in your destruction. I don't know what else to do. My parents raised me with this fucked up religion that claims to be all about love and forgiveness, yet I'l never make it out of poverty for the rest of my life because so God is out here trolling the living shit out of me. I'm not even a Jew!!!! It pisses me off and makes me depressed all at once. I wish I was born with a different religion or even no religion at all sometimes... A 25 year old man that can't even financially support himself...
Chris NullNull it's really cheap if you include no processed food. Grains and green veggies aren't expensive if you buy in season. look at Dr Gregory daily dozen. There's an app too. This is your life were talking about!
This presentation did it for me. It was not only the story of his mother recovering by changing her diet, but it was the studies that included slides of the resulting cancer cells dying. I've been studying diet for several years, and have not been able to give up meat. I'm currently eating bison and elk. No factory food. But I can finally see for myself what's best for me, through the studies you've presented. I used to say that we had canine teeth for a reason, and satisfy myself I was ok. And I was a good friend of Nathan Pritikin's son back in the 70's. And I used to work in a cardiac cath lab. I should have known better. What took me so long? I guess I needed to see the studies with my own eyes. I haven't been able to fully kick the remaining fatigue I've been fighting for 15 years. I did a little more research, and happened upon this video. Now I can help others. Thanks.

Food industry has a million times bigger marketing budget? Same with the pharmaceutical industry and so on.. So much noise in the health space from bloggers and health professionals either making shit up or passing on outdated info that people don't hear the truth/research from people like Dr.Greger. People like to hear good things about their bad habits too.. :/
most doctors are like prostitutes. you pay your money to get a short term fix but you don't fix the underlying cause. you might get a script for some medication which means you have to keep paying money on a regular basis to keep getting the fix.

Patients taking Viagra are less likely to suffer a heart attack, new research claims.
Men taking the impotence drug were found to have a lower risk of having a heart attack or dying from heart failure than those not on the medication.
The findings mean Viagra could soon be used to treat hundreds of thousands of heart failure patients and even prevent fatal heart attacks, scientists say.
Experts from the University of Manchester studied 6,000 diabetic patients who had been given Viagra to treat erectile dysfunction.
The drug relaxes muscle cells in the blood vessels supplying the penis, allowing more blood to flow there.
This increased blood flow increases the likelihood of getting an erection.
Given the increasing reports of deaths in which the use of Viagra may be implicated, clinicians need to exercise caution when advising their patients with heart
Experts believe a key ingredient in Viagra called PDE5i, which relaxes blood vessels, also prevents damage to heart cells.
Heart failure is caused by the heart failing to pump enough blood around the body at the right pressure.
It most often occurs because the heart muscle has become too weak or stiff to work properly and is usually treated with medication which supports the heart.
Despite diabetics being prone to heart problems, the study participants did not suffer as many incidents as similar patients not on the drug.
