i live in a very hot country, and i do mostly ( if not only ) cardio work. with a minor change to my diet ( no more sugars and soft drinks ) i was able to lose 14Kg in one year. thanks Mr. James for your advices, motivation and most of all - honesty.

I am fittest in the Summer though when it is 90-100 and humid as I work out way more and do way more cardio. But it is freezing here most of the year in PA. I bulk in the Winter and lean out in the Summer. But I am very active and athletic. You also lose more water weight, and the muscles are properly warmed up. I feel way stronger in the heat as I love the hot sun and always have. So I would say cold is more beneficial at rest or sleeping.

Really liked the style of this video.  Moving around and using your environment as some props.  Running time of video was spot on as well.  Don't get me wrong, I learn a lot of great stuff with your longer videos when you get off topic but this was good.  Easily my favorite guy to take some advice and theories from.

Calorie definition: The amount of heat required to raise the temperature of a kilogram of water by one degree Celsius. A calorie (with a lower-case c) is a measurement of the heat needed to raise the temperature of a gram of water, rather than a kilogram. He wasn't wrong...... just clarifying. What you see on food packages is the one with capital C

well no, you can't sit in an ice bath long enough for this to have effect but the starting theory is there. You'll probably cause some glandular issues if you do this and aren't accustomed to this physically. More isn't always better so take that cold water, cold car, cold night and use it. James is telling us what people should already know, these are the little gems hidden in the dark...the small things everyone overlooks (not deliberately) but the truth is there and the science backs it. We generally hear only the big building blocks of bodybuilding...people seem to forget that the most crucial parts are the cement that hold the thing together, its typically a tiny proportion of the big picture...but its the difference between finding something that works and doesn't. It wont work for everyone. :) Merry Christmas People!

Probably over an extended period of time you become more acclimated - who knows how long but more than 5 or 6 months.  But it is interesting to consider - I may have to look into it.

Yes!  Ice water is best - body has to replace the heat the cold water pulls away as it heats to the temp of the surrounding core.

Pretty interesting. Thanks for sharing. Also...everyone is born with "X" amount of fat cells in there body. You can not get rid of it...some people have more and some less. Fat cells will expand (bad eating habits) or shrink (diet/ exercise). So when you hear terms like "burning fat" or "shedding fat" etc...it's kind of misleading. The only way to permanently remove fat is surgery such as lypo.

Truckin with Brian That's NOT True. Bears fatten up "FOR" the winter (as in preparation) like Ants & Squirrels. NOT fatten up "IN" the winter. During the winter the Bears hibernate, so their body uses the fat (fuel) while they're sleeping. You mistated the situation sir.

Nice to hear a bodybuilder talking about cold thermogenesis. Cold showers and ice baths are great too because water allows for greater heat transfer than air. Be careful though and progress slowly...

entirely on point. my single digit body fat and 2 hrs running around new york city winter time with no jacket every day make complete sense to me. cold makes you strong, or makes you weak! think the choice is clear. contrast/cold showers help. you literally dont notice after 15 mins out in the world.

Damn brother your getting shredded!! Not like you wasn't big before but noticing the gains. Good advice as always. Enjoyed how you was switching up the video scenes trying new stuff. I know It's hard to keep people interested in the YouTube world with so many different channels like Piana, kali muscle, and rx muscle and such but like you said you want quality viewers. I think your achieving it with your honesty, humbleness, experience and just your agenda on life. Remember small steps to the moon lol. your the first person james to a dress this ,my gym buddies always made fun and joked around , cause I always diet in early winter and can cruise through the summer with same body weight and fat if I want ,either gain,loose or maintain ..its easier to diet when it's cooler for me and plus I have Cherokee heavily on my side of the family ,I'm very hot natured and for 20 years in the gym it's been that way for me,and I always go around in shorts ,tee and light jacket ,an summer light jacket or 2 shirts when training to raise body temp and fool the body into cooling more rapidly and hence caloric burn...

I've always dropped lbs in the winter, in the summer I actually gain lbs, but I never really thought about it, living in northern CA summers are 100-110 degrees, so training kind of sucks, but winter 50s and 60s just better for training. My gym is dungy no ac or heater.

Hell yeah man, I'm up in Colorado, and I look forward to winter, when I can run around in shorts, tank top, and flip flops. Of course, I always have a hat and coat handy, just in case, but running around in the cold, as well as taking cool showers, sleeping in a cold room, all that stuff, its been proven to help maximize hormone levels and help burn extra fat. On top of that, I try to minimize my eating to the evenings, or at least, my big meals, and after I eat, I bust out in the biggest sweats. My wife, next to me at night, feels like shes next to a furnace. I woke up the other night with her hand on my forehead, she thought I had a fever, I was so hot. I do feel bad for her though, because I sleep with a fan blowing on me every night, regardless of how cold it is outside. I've also found that coffee seems to help with that as well.
