Although there are MANY studies concluding an increase in substrate delivery via liposomes, there are only a few done featuring vitamin C. In each of the studies, no matter the substrate, liposomes increase bioavailability in the BLOOD, but not to the target tissue(s). That uptake is not impacted by liposomes as an oral delivery method. Not only that, but the few studies with vitamin C as the substrate show no greater reduction in oxidative stress than non-liposome, orally delivered vitamin C (using forearm ischemia-repercussion injury). What may be of value, when comparing the delivery of these two methods is the amount necessary for oxidative stress protection, since non-liposome delivered vitamin C has a lower absorption rate. Summary: Liposome delivery results in higher bioavailability than non-liposome delivery (orally), allowing for a lowered substrate dose for the same impact.

Yes, it's possible to take too much vitamin C. Since vitamin C is water-soluble (excess amounts are excreted and do not accumulate in the body), people sometimes assume there is no harm in taking large doses. However, there are potential short-term and long-term problems with taking high doses (500 to 1,000 mg per day) or very high doses (more than 2,000 mg per day) of vitamin C. Very high doses of vitamin C are known to cause gastric discomfort and diarrhea, and this is the basis for the current upper tolerable daily intake limit of 2,000 mg for adults. More limited, but concerning, evidence suggests problems with daily doses of just 500 to 1,000 mg of vitamin C. (Keep in mind that the recommended daily intake of vitamin C for adults is only 75 mg to 120 mg, with an additional 35 mg for smokers -- see the RDAs for details). For example, while long-term, low-dose supplementation with vitamin C may help to prevent cataracts, high doses may actually increase the risk. Taking a several hundred milligrams of vitamin C daily may also hamper some of the benefits of endurance exercise, as has been found with high doses of other antioxidant vitamins and supplements. High doses of vitamin C may also reduce the effectiveness of certain medications, and increase the risk of liver damage when taking high doses of Tylenol. They may also interfere with tests for cholesterol and blood sugar, and for blood in the stool. Individuals prone to developing kidney stones or with defects in metabolizing vitamin C or oxalate should also limit vitamin C from supplements.

A friend used to do 5 grams in the morning 5 grams in the evening of 12 hour sustained release vitamin c. He did it to enhance the brain AKA nootropic effect. I did like 1g morning 1g evening and could already feel a slight difference. Never did the high dosage because I thought I would just fuck up my stomach and I was already way to smart ;)

Actually, James is correct. Its been proven that Vitamin C ( the real shit) injected into the body works many times better than consuming any of this vitamin C that is "produced".

Lots of things are used for treatment with some effective many are not. There are limits to Vitamin C can do even in " huge doses". Use of Vitamin C ALONG with other treatment is shown to be associated with positive results but, It is often difficult to prove definitively that one given treatment is responsible for a specific clinical outcome. Correlation is not causation. Also, how is offering a different perspective " talking shit ?

This is know since the 1940's, but as you mentioned not publicized due the pharmacy companies.. You need to increase the dosage slowly up to the amount you want, so that your body can adapt to it. Every 90-120 minutes a low dosage is recommended for a few days. The same method used to get off this huge dosage. You can also make Liposomal at home. IF you chose to buy stay away from Dr. Mercola® Liposomal Vitamin C, it is fake.

First thing I do upon hearing of a new nutrient absorption technique is to treat it with a healthy level of cautious skepticism. I need to know that it doesn't have a harmful effect over the long run and is it a natural method. I get my daily C from fresh squeezed lemon, lime, orange and (pomegranate when in season) juice buffered to approx. 0.477:1 ratio with baking soda (ideally, or slightly less for taste). I searched a long time online to find this buffering strategy about 10 years ago. At that time it wasn't common knowledge (probably still mostly unheard of by the mainstream).

Good video on vitamin C. Yes vitamin C has been known for many years to be a really good vitamin. Not toxic (unlike A,D,E,K), and flushes from the body when there is too much. With Vitamin C you must take it 4 to 6 times a day too make sure your body can use it, and does not just flush it out through urine. Now dosages have not been established, or rather, not a lot of research give a definite amount that has to be taken. I will say there are a lot of numbers out there, but no real studies have been done to validate all the numbers. There is also a big question mark as to what ester of vitamin C to take and if pills vs. powder vs. chew-able make a difference. I'm a big follower of vitamin C, so I was happy to see people are still talking about it. I personally take all three in any given day.
