Hello World should have also focused on the positives of this tech instead of playing up the ol' AI is taking over thing. E.g. of a positive. Stephen Hawking could have used this tech to preserve his voice
Top Keks (12 days ago)
I wonder how often it'll be used to fake evidence or incriminate someone who didn't actually say anything!

So we know that looking at spectrograms produced by famous person's and comparing them to human judged perfect impressions of the famous person by a comedian for instance, that the two resulting spectrograms will not be indentical despite sounding exatly the same to what is perceived by human listeners. The SOTA in speech synthesis still struggles in particular and predictable instances of obtaining human-identical output. So it is simply a reverse engineering problem.

Kenyetta Kenyetta (25 days ago)
Why would they do this! The voice is a paramount fingerprint that we need in hard cases of evidence, etc. Without common sense no A.I. is useful for mankind! What about US answering phones or CHILDREN answering the door for STRANGERS!! This should be AGAINST THE LAW!!
Smiley Dog (25 days ago)
Cloning a voice is one of the features the Terminator has. If a blonde woman in a commando outfit and a big biker Austrian knock on your door, you should listen to what they have to say

Far from a technophobe, but I can definitely see many more dangers to this tech than benefits. This will need strict regulation.

I suppose it's better to have this stuff discovered and produced by the people without malicious intent than it is for someone who has a plan to get a head start. Knowing the tools helps... Shame voice recordings won't be viable as evidence anymore...
