Authenticate voice calls / messages with cryptographic public keys, problem solved!
Fishray (12 hours ago)
Simple copyright law could apply. Everyone should have the right to copyright their own voice. Any infringement or unauthorized usage could be prosecuted. End of debate.
But can they speak Kirby?
Trinity Smith (15 hours ago)
People always think “Can we make this?” and they never think “Should we make this?” I’m honestly scared of what AI technology is coming to.

Imagine the future of movies. No need for actors with the increase of processing power in CGI, and no need for voice actors.

This technology is 100% dangerous
Silentic (1 day ago)
I wish that technology can never develop. Why? Because it will be dangerous. Thanks to this, fraud will be easier. The developer has it somewhere. He will not care. The money will probably only be counted for him and not that someone will suffer. You can not compare this to photos it's not the same!

HMRC in the UK want me to use my voice as my password over the phone to speed up access & are touting it as the most secure way to access your account & that they can tell its "really" me - "even if you have a cold!" Does this hack now make their system totally redundant?

Something like this would have been nice for someone like Stephen Hawking so his voice sounded like it did before he lost his ability to speak.
purpleblake (7 days ago)
Laughing is probably one hole it will have for now. Everyone has a unique laugh which is hard to replicate. Also maybe other emotional vocalizations. But these things will def be added in the future no doubt, at which point i will really be scared

Oh wow. The fact that you can pass down the voice of your loved ones is amazing.
Fernando Di Monaco (7 days ago)
In Brazil, people call your house and tell you that they have kidnapped you son/daughter and demand ransom. They put someone on the line sounding really desperate and, often times, if they get you at the right moment, they succeed. I fear for what they might be able to do with this kind of technology on their hands...

Oooooook.... it's time to turn off my phone banking/ordering options forever 😂

Turns out his mom was an AI as well!!!!
Mr. Randall (7 days ago)
It still sounds artificial This is roughly how voice of Siri was done. It still sounds artificial. With artificial voice modulation to get rid of the monotone that AI voices have can make it work better it won't be long till we we won't be able to tell.
Mentos Freshmaker (7 days ago)
So soon the "Microsoft Service Worker" who always calls my house and tries to scam me will be talking english? XD
Wojtek Grabowski (7 days ago)
This show is amazing but it's so badly paced it hurts
Confession tapes will now either be invalidated or the technology could be used for blackmail scandals. Don’t think we should have technology that will help keep guilty people out of prison or put innocent people in prison.
Hobbes (7 days ago)
I wonder if they can use this algorithm in an adversarial network to make it sound better.
Anto Toni (7 days ago)
Stupid boys. Why do we need this? To show the world what technology can do? That’s stupid. We already know what technology can do. Aren’t there more important problems in the world to be solved?

nikrusty (7 days ago)
I see. The Terminator is getting perfected.
Francisco Rosado (7 days ago)
They should've used the AI for the voiceover. Then reveal it near the end of the video.
Pochi (7 days ago)
This technology brings more problems than it solves... How can any researcher, programmer or scientist who has a sane and sophisticated mind help to build up this technology? I mean, only an idiot or an extremely egoistic person would help to develope and improve that technology... It's just so obvious that the technology will find its main use in fraud and scam... Don't those researchers have a guilty conscience or are they just stupid and dumb?
nitesh shetty (7 days ago)
Just 10 days back I had predicted this to my daughter There will be a time when after we die ur loved once can speak with us through google or alexa It will speak and will converse like how we speak We will just have a read a script once the intelligence will store and save it and use it

Clicked on this expecting a positive video about throat cancer victims being able to record their voices before operations so they can still “speak” after their vocal chords removal and found a fear-mongering piece instead. Roger Ebert would have loved this and was fighting for something like this.

Mike (7 days ago)
For them, it's all about making money and not what repercussions it may have in the future. Who really benifits from this?
Varun reddy (7 days ago)
This was coming , Some one would make it , But what parallelly tech developers should do is Try to differntiate AI voice and Natural voice with an instant with some app in appstores/playsores. That leaves another risk of outsourcing ur audio calls to another App developer. That app should be able to detect with out conneting to Internet and not storing any calls in clouds databases. The Best one i think if verify call check. After some 3 years when this is grown hugely When ever u receive a AI call in future we need to ask a simple question to verify it and then proceed in to conversation. Still it sin't developed as that much refined voice. so nothing to fear for next 3 years.
