In 1980 my baby and I almost died because I took this herb. A close friend had a health food store and a big, famous Mormon doctor has a line of herbs for various health purposes like colon cleansing. She and I both were pregnant. Both of us took Cascara Sagrada, which HAD NO WARNINGS ON THE BOTTLES. Both our babies began passing meconium (poop) into their waters, which soon broke showing the telltale yellow of a baby in stress. We had many hours of induced labor followed by emergency caesarean sections. To protect the baby, I didn't have enough anesthesia and so woke up with the agony of the cut. I heard them exclaim over the baby, who was ok....then blissfully received more drip and went out for the long repair stitching. My friend had the exact delivery, minus waking up, thank God. My child, Theresa, may have been affected for life with gut leakage. She had asthma and b vitamin issues. Then at 9 she died at home with a mysterious breathing problem. She was nothing but pure joy and sweetness and I know she's waiting in Heaven for us. But I will always wonder if her prenatal stress contributed to her death. I'm telling you...this herb is very dangerous....there is no substitute for eating simple, wholesome food and water and fresh air...if needed use a simple suppository. Hey Chris I’ve straightened up my diet lotta veggies greens but you know I still have chronic constipation can I take this for long-term or should I just take it like a short term and maybe go back-and-forth after a few days

i think almost everyone has constipation without knowing processing starch and meat u can see if someone doesnt have constipation - their spine/posture is (almost unnaturally looking) straight and they r alert

Been doing this one for years, for the last couple years I have been taking psyllium husk to prevent constipation. Works supremely, and great channel BTW

It's a good temporary option but not for long term.A good diet consisting of veggies,tubers,not too much meat avoid dairy and grains+Not eating after 18:00 helped me and now it's like a clock.I don't eat for 14 hours,sort of a fast but reversed cause most people on interminent fasting stuff themselves late at night which I don't believe to be a smart thing to do as digestive system slows down at night and food stays longer.

I have tried root veges like potatoes, sweet potatoes, taro etc. Avoid tomatoes (acidic, and its compounds can wreak havoc in the tract)and garlic (overly anti-biotic, kills the good bacteria, which aid digestion, as well!), especially the latter. Haemorhoids sufferers avoid these two.! These simply cooked veges in a balanced diet is best. Also I don't take milk often, and if I do boil it in Milo/Ovaltine or chocolate drink, just to get some calcium.
