💓 7 Reasons Why Saturated Fats Are GOOD For You
Saturated fats are horrible for you!!?!
And this false information and myth all started in the 1950’s by a guy named Ancel Keys. He basically did a study of 6 countries in which higher saturated fat intake equated to higher rates of heart disease.
Unfortunately, like most studies that are skewed, he purposely ignored and DELETED data on the 16 other countries that didn’t fit his theory.
Countries where high saturated fat intake showed very little heart disease. And also countries with very little fat that showed HIGH rates of heart disease.
However, once his paper was published and he was on the cover of Time magazine, the medical industry changed and saturated fats became the devil.
Sadly, new,... supposedly “healthier” fats emerged -- such as sunflower, corn, soybean and cottonseed oils…. And margarine, let’s not forget about this junky fat.
Ironically, THESE fats have contributed more to heart disease, heart attacks and strokes than most other foods and certainly a lot more than saturated fats.
And this is because these so-called “healthy” fats are high in inflammatory omega 6 fats. Plus, when heated, the fat molecule oxidizes, changes structure, becomes hydrogenated and basically, TOXIC to your body.
These vegetable and seed fats are NOT designed to be heated, while saturated fats are.
Yet, a major meta-analysis of 21 studies with almost 350,000 adults, revealed no difference in the risks of heart disease and stroke between people with the lowest and highest intakes of saturated fat.1
And there are other, major studies showing similar results.2,3
Simply stated, eating saturated fats does NOT cause heart disease!
Eat More Saturated Fats
Actually, the truth is that eating saturated fats can actually help prevent heart disease. This is because they reduce levels of Lipoprotein (a) [LP(a)], which has a very strong correlation to heart disease.4-6
Improved Cardiovascular Risk Factors
What’s interesting is that currently there are no drugs that lower Lipoprotein (a), but saturated fats do!
Again, nature already has the solutions - NOT pharmaceutical companies!
Additionally, eating saturated fats helps increase your “good” HDL cholesterol (lipoprotein).
That’s a double positive bonus!
And there are other benefits too.
Saturated fats, especially coconut oil, can help you lose fat by increasing your metabolism and thyroid.
The brain is made largely of fat and the majority of the fat in the brain is saturated.
Saturated fats also encourage the liver cells to dump their fat content - this is a primary step in stopping that unhealthy and ugly belly fat. Additionally, saturated fat has been shown to protect the liver from the toxicity of alcohol and medication drugs.
They also help make your bones stronger, especially in women. Vegetable oils do the opposite and cause osteoporosis.
Stronger Immune System
Saturated fats, especially coconut oil is amazing for your immune system. The myristic and lauric acid have antibacterial and antifungal qualities for your gut. In fact, these are also found in high amounts in human breast milk as a potent germ-killing ability for the baby.
For proper function, the airspaces of the lungs have to be coated with a thin layer of what’s called lung surfactant. The fat content of lung surfactant is 100 percent saturated fatty acids. Replacement of these critical fats by other types of fat makes faulty surfactant and potentially causes breathing difficulties (such as asthma) and inflammation
Saturated fats, especially coconut also reduces inflammation, hydrates the skin and increases collagen - all of which are needed for healthier, more youthful skin.

So saturated fats are equally as good as unsaturated fats. Obviously any trans fat, any form of hydrogenated fats are bad. I'm still confused on why normal vegetable oil such as corn or mustard oil aren't good because they need to be heated. Why does heating them make them not as good as oils that do not need to be heated?
I’ll do a video about this because this is a good question and a lot of confusion. Simply stated, vegetable oils are “unnatural” in high amounts. These fats are also high in omega 6’s and thus, cause inflammation (very bad for you). Also, vegetable oils DO contain trans fats, they just don’t list it on the bottle. The manufacturing process of veg. Oils cause oxidation and are rancid before you ever buy them. Finally, heating them releases toxic, cancer-causing chemicals. All very bad =(
Are you referring to professional athletes who have GREAT genetics,... who do nothing but exercise, eat, rest, sleep and take tons of supplements… who are YOUNG… who don’t have the regular stresses of average people…. Who, also, take LOTS of drugs?
Hehe… any well-known and/or professional athlete you know - not only has great genetics, but they take drugs. Even if they don’t “look” it.
Sadly, when growing up, I didn’t believe this -- 25+ years later and after me consulting and speaking to DOZENS and hundreds of these athletes, I now know better. Genetics plays a huge role and so do drugs.
HOWEVER, if you want to train 2-3 hours daily and you feel fine and your blood tests show good hormone levels, then continue doing it. I’m only reporting to you what works best, for “regular” people who have regular lives, don’t have “amazing genetics” and aren’t taking drugs.
But the bottom line - enjoy yourself and have fun. If you are seeing progress, then keep doing it my friend. I’m only giving general feedback - we are all different =)
Dr Sam Robbins your advices tell us to not train more than an hour a day and also not more than 4 days a week and if we do that so our Testosterone will be decreased so what about those well known athletes who train 6 or 7 hours a day and 6 days a week 🤔 ? Do they do wrong ? Do they kill their bodies ? Do not they have Testosterone ? Can not i train 2 or 3 hours aday for my favourite sport ? Dr.sam i really appreciate every single information you say and i believe in it but these questions are really confuse me so i hope you help me to get rid of that.....Thank you
Patients taking Viagra are less likely to suffer a heart attack, new research claims.
Men taking the impotence drug were found to have a lower risk of having a heart attack or dying from heart failure than those not on the medication.
The findings mean Viagra could soon be used to treat hundreds of thousands of heart failure patients and even prevent fatal heart attacks, scientists say.
Experts from the University of Manchester studied 6,000 diabetic patients who had been given Viagra to treat erectile dysfunction.
The drug relaxes muscle cells in the blood vessels supplying the penis, allowing more blood to flow there.
This increased blood flow increases the likelihood of getting an erection.
Given the increasing reports of deaths in which the use of Viagra may be implicated, clinicians need to exercise caution when advising their patients with heart
Experts believe a key ingredient in Viagra called PDE5i, which relaxes blood vessels, also prevents damage to heart cells.
Heart failure is caused by the heart failing to pump enough blood around the body at the right pressure.
It most often occurs because the heart muscle has become too weak or stiff to work properly and is usually treated with medication which supports the heart.
Despite diabetics being prone to heart problems, the study participants did not suffer as many incidents as similar patients not on the drug.
