Music produced by D Tru- Jerry Davis
I actually moved away from wichita kansas about a year ago to Chicago. All my life I wanted out of Wichita thinking that there was soo much more out there! This was my thought process due to the fact that ive been to Florida and California and various other places and was in awe of the sites to see. On October 22nd 2011 I had finally gotten my chance to move to a big city from Wichita Kansas to Chicago Illinois. When I had gotten there I was soo excited to start producing music again and to get involved in the music scene and everything else that Chicago had to offer. I went downtown for the first time via bus and city train and I was mezmorized. I couldn't believe my eyes! All of the big buildings and masses of people! This was where I wanted to be! As time went by I began to notice that Chicago was not maintained very well. The roads were plagued by numerous potholes and cheap patch work. I had also noticed that there was a stop sign just about every 100 yrds. I definately wasnt used to that. Not to mention, I had nearly an hour drive to and from work everyday, and pay wasn't all that great. We began looking at apartments for rent and the prices were 650 to 700 a month for a single bedroom! To me that was crazy, knowing that before we had moved we had a two bedroom house with two car garage on an acre for only 600 a month with a job that paid a lot more!
To say the least, the adjustment had began to wear on me and I was missing home! Gas was nearly a dollar more here and to get anywhere was a voyage due to the traffic congestion. The average cigarette pack was nearly 8 dollars and was one of the highest taxed cities in the USA. As I began to evaluate where I was in life I started to realize that Wichita has nearly everything that every other city has minus the costs, crime, and traffic! I was amazed to see on the news that on a August weekend there were around 28 shootings in Chicago. That is definately not where I want to raise my new baby girl! Soo, here I come Wichita! Im coming back to you. The city that I had thought that I hated so much I had built an appreciation for while being gone! Wichita is a beautiful city!
