10 Most WARNING Signs of Gluten Intolerance

09:00
Gluten intolerance, also called gluten sensitivity or Celiac Disease- when it’s in its most severe form- can have symptoms that range from no symptoms to life threatening or debilitating chronic health problems and anywhere in between. Often, these symptoms are not consistent from person to person and this is part of what makes gluten testing or Diagnosing Gluten Sensitivity so difficult for medical professionals. Gluten sensitivity and intolerance can manifest as much more than just IBS-like symptoms and stomach problems. That’s why doctors are more likely to dismiss the idea that you even have this because if they don’t hear about digestive problems as your chief complaint, then it must be something else. More than 55 diseases have been linked to gluten, the protein found in wheat, rye, and barley. It's estimated that 99% of the people who have either gluten intolerance or celiac disease are never diagnosed. But how can you tell if you really are gluten intolerant? For some, eating this mainly wheat-derived protein is just fine, while others experience a full range of symptoms, some of which can make life nightmarish. Untreated allergic reactions caused by food can be fatal

01:49
Experts warn the public to be cautious of allergens, substances that can cause allergic reaction to the body, as allergies can sometimes be life-threatening. Allergy causes can vary from person-to-person. According to experts, common allergens are food, molds, insect bites, pollen, and drugs. Allergies are 'abnormal' responses of the body triggered by the immune system. Normally, the immune system fends off foreign substances known as antigens. As a combat mechanism, the body produces antibodies and other chemicals. However, during an allergic reaction, the body inappropriately reacts, releasing chemicals such as histamine to attack protein. When this occurs, common symptoms of allergies occur. Allergic symptoms include rashes, asthma, reddening of the eyes, among others. According to experts, most allergies are not serious and can be treated with various over the counter or prescription drugs. However, there can be times when allergies can result to severe illness, demanding immediate medical attention. If not immediately treated, it can result to death. Anaphylaxis is the life-threatening allergic reaction which causes a sudden release of chemicals by the body's immune system. When this occurs, chemicals cause the body to undergo shock, causing a sudden drop in the blood pressure and difficulty breathing. When undergoing anaphylaxis, experts said a patient must be immediately rushed to the hospital emergency room and be injected by epinephrine. This holiday season, experts warn the public to be extra cautious of food allergens as some may be present in dishes served during gatherings. According to infectious disease expert Dr. Rey Salinel, some allergens can be 'hidden' in cooked dishes. "Minsan nga hindi mo mamamalayan, pero nag-manifest sayo [ang] allergy. Ibig sabihin nakakakuha ka (Sometimes you won’t notice the food allergen until the allergic reaction manifests in your body)," he said. Common food allergens include seafood, peanuts, and eggs. Experts also added, if food is not handled properly, food allergens can be potentially cross contaminated. Cross contamination can occur if proteins from one food directly make contact with another, or indirectly transfer via utensils or hands. Cleaners such as kitchen sponges can also act as a contamination agent if microscopic allergens are transferred to plates. If plates are not washed properly, the allergens can contaminate food during next use. However, US-based National Center for Biotechnology Information clarified, allergic reactions from cross contamination depends on the amount of exposure, frequency, and the individual’s threshold dose. According to experts, ample knowledge of your specific allergen is the first step towards avoiding allergic reaction. Once you have identified what substances you are allergic to, as much as possible, avoid these. Also, when preparing food this holiday season, experts said it would help to properly label food in order to avoid unwanted allergic reactions. Further, preparing and serving food that can possibly cause allergies separately can decrease chances of contamination. Using clean utensils specifically designated for only a single food type is also recommended by experts.

What is a Food Allergy? - How are Food Allergies Treated?

04:08
What is a Food Allergy? - How are Food Allergies Treated? Types, Causes, Symptoms and Treatment A food allergy is an abnormal immune response to food. The signs and symptoms may range from mild to severe. They may include itchiness, swelling of the tongue, vomiting, diarrhea, hives, trouble breathing, or low blood pressure. This typically occurs within minutes to several hours of exposure. When the symptoms are severe, it is known as anaphylaxis. Food intolerance and food poisoning are separate conditions. Common foods involved include cow's milk, peanuts, eggs, shellfish, tree nuts, wheat, rice, and fruit. The common allergies in a region vary depending on the country. Risk factors include a family history of allergies, vitamin D deficiency, obesity, and high levels of cleanliness. Allergies occur when immunoglobulin E (IgE), part of the body's immune system, binds to food molecules. A protein in the food is usually the problem. This triggers the release of inflammatory chemicals such as histamine. Diagnosis is usually based on a medical history, elimination diet, skin prick test, blood tests for food-specific IgE antibodies, or oral food challenge. Early exposure to potential allergens may be protective. Management primarily involves avoiding the food in question and having a plan if exposure occurs. This plan may include giving adrenaline (epinephrine) and wearing medical alert jewelry. The benefits of allergen immunotherapy for food allergies is unclear, thus is not recommended as of 2015. Some types of food allergies among children resolve with age, including that to milk, eggs, and soy; while others such as to nuts and shellfish typically do not. In the developed world, about 4% to 8% of people have at least one food allergy. They are more common in children than adults and appear to be increasing in frequency. Male children appear to be more commonly affected than females. Some allergies more commonly develop early in life, while others typically develop in later life. In developed countries, a large proportion of people believe they have food allergies when they actually do not have them. What is a Food Allergy? - How are Food Allergies Treated? Allergy Rash - Hives Food Allergy and Hives Skin Allergy

04:11
Allergy Rash - Hives Food Allergy and Hives Skin Allergy Get it here: http://bit.ly/1TDFjTb Hives Food Allergy and Hives Skin Allergy Raised red or pale yellow wheals, sometimes surrounded by an inflated border on the skin might be a sign of hives food allergy. Though hives can also develop due to non-allergic causes, a hives skin allergy that develops in response to an allergic reaction is more common. Hives Allergy Over 20% of the cases of acute hives occur in response to eating allergenic foods, such as wheat, eggs, nuts, chocolate, and fish. Welts of hives food allergy vary in size and color. They are typically itchy, burning, and painful. Allergy and Hives The allergic method responsible for hives involves the release of a chemical called histamine by the mast cells. When mast cells release histamine, it circulates in skin capillaries and the endothelial cells, and it provokes a reaction, which results in a leakage of liquids from the capillaries. This process causes rashes and itchy skin. Allergy Symptoms Hives Due to the unique characteristics of the wheals, hives are easy to identify optically. An urticaria doctor can determine the causes, including determining whether the outbreak of hives is due to a food allergy. Allergy Hives Treatment If your allergy hives cover a small area of the body and cause an itchy sensation, they can be countered by taking antihistamines. Certain antihistamines reduce the level of itching and swelling, which provides relief to the patient. A hives food allergy can be prevented by avoiding all allergenic foods. However, it may take some time and trial and error to determine which foods provoke outbreaks. It will be helpful to keep a food diary during this time so that you can keep track of what you have eaten when you experience a hives outbreak. If allergy hives are accompanied by breathing difficulty, changes in heart rate, or other symptoms of anaphylaxis, seek medical treatment immediately. Allergy Shots Hives Allergy shots hives is a form of immunotherapy for allergic disorders in which the patient is vaccinated with increasingly larger doses of an allergen with the aim of inducing immunologic tolerance. Wheat Allergy Hives Some people can develop a wheat allergy, which can result in symptoms such as hives, swelling around the mouth, and, in extreme cases, anaphylaxis. Like all allergies, wheat allergy involves IgE and mast cell response. Dust Allergy Hives Dust mite allergens can also cause hives. Individuals who are allergic to dust or dust mites should use hypoallergenic mattress covers, encase bedding with protective covers, and avoid dusty areas. Egg Allergy Hives Egg allergy is most commonly found in infants soon after eating eggs for the first time. It can result in hives. Peanut Allergy Hives Peanut allergy can be extremely dangerous. If your child experiences hives after eating peanuts for the first time, the next exposure might be more drastic. Consult your doctor before allowing your child to eat peanuts again. P.S. (from Dr. Gary M. Levin, M.D. & Surgeon) I know what you may feel and think - "I am lost! I don't have any chance to get cured etc" - I have heard this numerous times and I must tell you this: I have seen TONS of urticaria & angioedema sufferers get cured at my private clinic and online using my simple method. Food Allergies | When to Worry | Parents

01:35
Watch as Parents Magazine shows when to worry about food allergies! Ninety percent of food allergy symptoms are caused by milk, eggs, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, shellfish, wheat, or soy. Within a few minutes to an hour of eating a specific food, your baby could experience the side effects of food allergies. However, it could take days, especially if your breastfeeding baby has a reaction to a food you have eaten. These are the three symptoms to watch for. A skin rash, such as hives, will produce itchy bumps as a classic allergic reaction. Eczema is another common symptom. Consistent diarrhea or vomiting after eating a particular food may mean your baby has a food allergy, but it could also be a sign of an intolerance, which is less serious. Blood-streaked stool is a common indicator of a cow's milk allergy, or lactose intolerance. Lastly, circulation and breathing issues are very serious signs of allergic reactions. Call 911 immediately if he is experiencing anaphylaxis, the most serious food allergy symptom. Luckily, more than 80 percent of allergies to eggs, milk, wheat, and soy fade by age five.
