PLOT SUMMARY Kildare and Lane are put together on a case involving a man with a skull fracture, and Lane, who has lost too many of his patients on the operating table recently, wants James to perform the urgently needed surgery instead. James persuades Lane to operate, but when the patient wakes up, he shows clear signs of insanity, putting Lane's career in jeopardy. Kildare is convinced that the man was mentally ill before the accident which fractured his skull, and risks his own career by trying to trying a dangerous, experimental "Insulin shock" treatment.
