What Are Vitamin D Deficiency Symptoms?

06:05
For more info: https://draxe.com/vitamin-d-deficiency-symptoms/?utm_campaign=Youtube-Apr-2015&utm_medium=social&utm_source=youtube&utm_term=vitaminddeficiency In this video I’m going to talk about the benefits of vitamin D as well as symptoms of vitamin D deficiency. In certain studies, Americans has been found to be the #1 population in vitamin D deficiency. Some of the main symptoms of vitamin D deficiency are a weakened immune system, candida or bacterial overgrowth, emotional ups and downs, hormone imbalance, trouble putting on muscle or losing weight, weakened bones or teeth, cancer, heart disease, or diabetes. Vitamin D supports having a healthy immune response, digestive health, hormone balance, and more. The biggest causes of vitamin D deficiency are not getting enough sunlight, certain chemicals from plastic bottles (bpa), and toxicity. Try to get outside everyday for about 20-30 minutes of natural sunlight. Certain foods that are sources of vitamin D are wild caught fish, raw fermented milk, mushrooms, and eggs. However, there are small amounts in the food you eat. For a good supplement, I would recommend a high quality vitamin D supplement. You don’t want to take vitamin D2, but you do want to take vitamin D3. For supplementation, take about 2000-5000 IUs a day. However, if you have a severe deficiency, then for 1-2 months, you may take 5000 IUs twice daily. Lastly, you want to take your vitamin D3 with some form of fat like coconut oil or avocado to help absorption in your body. For more on vitamin d deficiency, you can check out this article: http://draxe.com/vitamin-d-deficiency-symptoms/ *This content is strictly the opinion of Dr. Josh Axe, and is for informational and educational purposes only. This Simple Juice Recipe Will Help You Remove Uric Acid Crystallization In Joints

06:10
This Simple Juice Recipe Will Help You Remove Uric Acid Crystallization In Joints Cucumber The cucumber is 95% water, keeping the body hydrated while helping the body eliminate toxins. It has most of the vitamins the body needs in a single day! The cucumber is an excellent source of silica, which is known to help promote joint health by strengthening the connective tissues. It is also high in vitamin A, B1, B6, C & D, folate, calcium, magnesium, and potassium. When mixed with carrot juice, it can relieve gout and arthritis pain by lowering the uric acid levels. The cucumber, or its fresh juice, helps bring down body temperature, is highly alkalizing food and is highly effective for lowering or even totally removing uric acid crystallization in joints, like with gout. There may be a slight pain when drinking this juice (which is actually a sign of healing!). The pain comes from the stirring of the old toxins to be eliminated. Celery It is an excellent source of vitamin K and molybdenum. It is a very good source of folate, potassium, dietary fiber, manganese, and pantothenic acid. Celery is also a good source of vitamin B2, copper, vitamin C, vitamin B6, calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, and vitamin A (in the form of carotenoids). Depending on location and cultivar, either its stalks or its hypocotyl are eaten and used in cooking and juicing. Ginger Keep ginger in your spice cabinet? Maybe it should be placed in your medicine cabinet instead! Besides being a tasty spice every so often used to enhance holiday treats, ginger can soothe upset stomachs and diminish nausea. Studies have shown that it may help reduce pain and inflammation as well. In fact, a University of Miami study reached a conclusion that ginger extract could one day be a natural substitute to nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). The study compared the effects of a highly concentrated ginger extract to placebo in 247 patients with osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee. The ginger reduced pain and stiffness in knee joints by 40% over the placebo. “Research shows that ginger af ects certain inflammatory processes at a cellular level,” says the study’s lead author, Roy Altman, https://youtu.be/8HXA4OsSHZc

Say Goodbye to Gout and High Uric Acid Levels With This Powerful Home Remedy

04:17
Do you have problems with high uric acid? Find out how to treat it with a natural recipe! During the digestive process, uric acid is a substance produced by our body when food is broken down. To eliminate it, our cells dissolve it and carry it in the blood stream to our kidneys where it gets expelled. Next, the kidneys filter the blood and get rid of the residue through our urine. When there is a build up of uric acid, there is an imbalance in the tissue, either because our body is producing too much or because it’s not eliminating it properly. This condition is called hyperuricemia and, with time, it could form crystals that affect our renal and joint health. Thankfully, there are natural elements whose properties help lower high uric acid by helping our body detox more effectively. Both artichoke and lemon help control inflammation, due to their diuretic and purifying properties that lower high uric acid. Lemon and artichoke juice is a detox drink, rich in vitamins and minerals that offers a variety of benefits for our body’s health. With very few calories, this juice helps regulate the triglyceride and cholesterol levels, and also helps you lose weight. Its digestive properties are used to treat inflammatory diseases like the ones that cause high uric acid. Furthermore, rich in antioxidants, this recipe helps stop cellular damage and prevent premature tissue deterioration. Artichoke is a very healthy vegetable that many doctors recommend to people that are looking to improve their eating habits. It’s not only a rich source of nutrients but it also has very few calories. Artichoke contains: Minerals (magnesium, potassium, phosphor, calcium, iron); Vitamins (A, B, C); Carbohydrates; Fiber; Fatty acids; Protein; This nutritious compound aids in the liver’s function, because it avoids any interruptions in the process and helps dissolve the fats that build up in our tissues. The organic acids help lower the high uric acid in the body and, consequently, makes its elimination easier through the filtering process conducted by the kidneys. Because of these properties, the artichoke functions as a natural diuretic, increasing urine production to remove the uric acid more effectively. Furthermore, an artichoke has only 40 calories, functioning as an excellent supplement to anyone who wants to lose weight. In this recipe, an artichoke is combined with lemon to improve its results. Lemon is an alkaline food, widely known for being an excellent source of vitamin C. Furthermore, it’s rich in minerals and natural fiber. So, it helps reduce high uric acid and aids in its elimination. The natural acids from the lemon become alkaline substances in the body, which balances the blood’s pH that has been greatly altered due to the high uric acid. The nutrients in the lemon neutralize the uric acid by stimulating the production of calcium carbonate. Here’s how to prepare the lemon and artichoke juice and lower high uric acid: Ingredients 2 medium artichokes The juice of 1 lemon 1 liter of water Instructions Cut the artichokes and boil them in the liter of water. When the artichokes are nice and soft, add the lemon juice and let it cool until the mixture reaches ideal drinking temperature. Strain the mixture and drink some half an hour before every meal. Continue the treatment for two weeks, as part of a detox routine to eliminate high uric acid. If you want to use this natural remedy to prevent high uric acid, just drink it two to three times a week. The consumption of this home-made juice will help eliminate high uric acid while aiding in weight loss. 🚫 You [Must Avoid] These FOODS if You Have GOUT? TOP HIGH PURINE FOODS to Avoid if You Have GOUT

12:46
TOP Foods and Drinks Gout Patients Should Avoid. Research has shown that losing weight and increasing water intake can help reduce gout symptoms. However, there is another way patients with gout can reduce their symptoms: avoiding certain types of foods and drinks that can trigger flares. When dispensing gout medications such as colchicine, pharmacists can take the opportunity to educate patients about common dietary triggers of gout. Here are a few examples of food and drinks that may worsen gout symptoms: 1. Certain meat Meat, especially organ meat, should be avoided if possible, as it is rich in purine. Purine compounds can raise uric acid levels, which then build up in the joints and cause painful gout symptoms. Examples of meats that gout patients should avoid are bacon, turkey, goose, veal, venison, and organ meats such as liver, kidneys, or sweetbreads. Meatlovers should try to stick to chicken and duck, instead. In addition, leg meat is a preferred option over breast meat with skin. 2. Certain seafood Cutting back on seafood during a gout flare-up can be helpful. Even during remission, certain seafood intake should be limited. Previous research has suggested that patients with gout should avoid shellfish, anchovies, sardines, herring, mussels, scallops, codfish, trout, tuna, and haddock. Shrimp, lobster, eel, and crab are safer seafood choices for patients with gout. 3. Vegetables and fungi high in purines Asparagus, cauliflower, spinach, and mushrooms are high in purines, so patients with gout should not consume large amounts of these foods. However, patients tend to be able to excrete purines from vegetables better than they do from meat, so consumption of these vegetables and fungi does not have to be as limited as meat intake. 4. Alcohol In terms of drinks, alcohol is known to be high in purine, so experts recommend that gout patients avoid all types of alcoholic beverages. Nevertheless, beer is specifically cited as an alcohol to avoid because it increases patients’ uric acid levels and reduces the body’s ability to clear the substance from its system. If a patient must consume alcohol, then the best option is wine, according to clinical guidelines. Abstaining from alcohol entirely is advised during gout flare-ups. Other drinks like sugary sodas and fruit drinks should also be avoided because the body reacts to these beverages by stimulating uric acid production.

Top Foods High In Purines That Cause Gout – List

04:48
A gout diet is a diet which contains foods that are low in purine. Purine is a substance found naturally in food and is also naturally produced by the human body. Purine by itself isn’t the problem. The problem is that purines break down into uric acid, that can form into crystals which deposit in the joints and cause pain and inflammation. This joint pain is referred to as gout, or a gout attack. It is very important to keep your diet in check to avoid food that increases the uric acid content in the body. It’s also important not to lose weight too quickly. Rapid weight loss may increase the amount of uric acid in your body. Studies have shown that vegetables high in purines do not increase the risk of gout or recurring gout attacks. A healthy diet based on lots of vegetables, seeds, nuts, and fruits can include high-purine vegetables, such as spinach, asparagus, cauliflower, peas, or mushrooms. Another interesting aspect of the vegetable and gout research has been the repeated finding that higher intake of vitamin C can lower risk of gout. In addition, drinking too much alcohol has been strongly associated with gout for many years. Some types of alcohol, especially beer, contain high levels of purines, that could be an indirect cause of gout. High-purine foods list to avoid include: Tuna,  herring, codfish, and haddock. Anchovies, scallops, sardines, and mussels. Organ meats, such as heart, brains, liver, kidney, and sweetbreads. Wild game meats, like goose and duck. Yeast extracts taken in the form of a supplement. Gravies and sauces made with meat. Thank you. This was our video with foods high in purines (low purine diet) as well as foods to avoid with gout. How to Naturally Overcome Vitamin B12 Deficiency

07:33
For more on Vitamin B12 foods, you can check out my article: https://draxe.com/top-10-vitamin-b12-foods/ In this video, I’m going to talk about how to overcome Vitamin B12 deficiency and the health benefits of Vitamin B12. Surprisingly, about 40% of the population is deficient. Some of the big warning signs that you are Vitamin B12 deficient are if you struggle with low energy, fatigue, lack of focus, poor memory, poor cellular function, autoimmune disease, anemia, or thyroid condition. The biggest reason most people have Vitamin B12 deficiency is because they don’t have a healthy digestive system to digest this vitamin properly, also known as leaky gut. If you can’t absorb nutrients and vitamins properly, then you won’t be able to absorb the vitamins you need for optimal health. People who struggle with leaky gut or digestive issues, vegans or vegetarians, and people who don’t have enough probiotics in their diet all tend to have a Vitamin B12 deficiency. Some of the benefits of Vitamin B12 include red blood cell formation, which is vital to heart health, cellular function, and supporting the brain and nerve system. If you want to overcome Vitamin B12 deficiency, then you must follow these specific steps: 1. Consume more Vitamin B12-rich foods (liver, wild-caught fish, grass-fed lamb and beef, and raw dairy products) 2. Take a Probiotic (increases absorption) 3. Heal your gut (getting inflammatory foods out of your diet) 4. Supplementation (Vitamin B12, B complex, desiccated liver supplement) If you can follow these steps, you will notice improvements immediately and overcome your Vitamin B12 deficiency. *This content is strictly the opinion of Dr. Josh Axe, and is for informational and educational purposes only. What Causes Liver Spots (Aging Spots)? Hint...it's NOT the liver

Take Dr. Berg's Advanced Evaluation Quiz: http://bit.ly/EvalQuiz Your report will then be sent via email analyzing 104 potential symptoms, giving you a much deeper insight into the cause-effect relationship of your body issues. It's free and very enlightening. Dr. Berg talks about what liver spots are. Liver spots are not really caused by your liver, but it is caused by vitamin C deficiency. Vitamin C protects skin from the sun. You want to consume vegetables that have high vitamin C not just used cream and serum on you skin. Most Vitamin C are synthetic and I do not recommend it. Eat vegetables with high concentrated vitamin C; such as collard green, cabbage, bell pepper, chili pepper...etc. Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional and natural methods. Preventing Gout Attacks with Diet

If the uric acid crystals that trigger gout come from the breakdown of purines, should gout patients avoid even healthy purine-rich foods such as beans, mushrooms, and cauliflower? Subscribe to Dr. Greger’s free nutrition newsletter at https://www.nutritionfacts.org/subscribe and get a free recipe from his new HOW NOT TO DIE COOKBOOK. (All proceeds Dr. Greger receives from the sales of his books, DVDs, and speaking engagements go to support the 501c3 nonprofit that runs NutritionFacts.org.) Uric acid is double-edged sword. If our uric acid levels are too high we can get gout, but if they’re too low, it may increase our risk of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease (presumed to be because uric acid acts as a powerful brain antioxidant—see Miocene Meteorites and Uric Acid http://nutritionfacts.org/video/miocene-meteorites-and-uric-acid/). Both high and low levels are associated with increased mortality. Stay tuned later this year for my video [Parkinson’s Disease and the Uric Acid Sweet Spot]. What about treating gout with diet? Uric acid is normally cleaned out of the blood by the kidneys, and passes out of the body along with urine. What is a low purine diet? A low-purine diet is a meal plan based on foods that are low in purine content. Purine is a substance that is found in foods and is produced naturally by the body. Uric acid buildup can cause gout, a painful arthritic condition that occurs when uric acid crystals lodge in the joints, causing swelling, pain and inflammation. Can chocolate give you gout? Make no mistake: Candy is one of the foods that cause gout. But chocolate as a “Superfood” has a high percentage of pure raw cacao, that has been heated at low temperatures to preserve the flavonoids, and with just enough healthy sugars added to make it palatable. Can you be cured of gout? Long-term drug treatment of gout aims to lower uric acid in order to prevent new crystals from forming and dissolve existing crystals. Once all the crystals have gone the gout has been “cured”. ... Therefore, an anti-inflammatory or colchicine is often prescribed for the first 3–6 months of therapy. How long does it take for gout to go away? An acute gout attack may last from three to 10 days, with or without medication. Diet Tips To Control High Uric Acid Levels

05:09
Do you feel persistent joint pain especially in your fingers? Then, you have good reason to doubt that you have an increased uric acid level. Uric acid is a breakdown product of purines in your body. Purines will be present in your body from normal cell breakdown and from the foods that you eat. Normally, a certain amount of uric acid will pass through urine and stool. But, in certain cases, the uric acid level in the blood increases when there is an abnormally increased production. Increased uric acid can also result from the decreased capacity of the kidney to eliminate them, as in cases like kidney diseases. High amount of uric acid in the blood will result in solid crystal formations in the joint, resulting in a condition called gout. If the level of uric acid remains uncontrolled, it can even result in kidney stones and kidney failure. The most relaxing news for all those who suffer from increased uric acid is that you can make significant change in your conditions by making some small changes in your diet plan. While considering uric acid diet plan, it is important to note that there are many do’s and don’ts. Include foods that will help regulate the levels of uric acid and at the same time, avoid foods that will cause an increase. Here, we go through some important points that you have to keep in mind while planning your uric acid diet plan. 1. Drink plenty of fluids Drinking enough water is a crucial factor that determines how much uric acid is flushed out of the body. Water will help in draining out all the impurities out of the body while it passes through the kidneys. Drink more than three litres of water a day. 2. High-fibre foods According to a report from the University of Maryland Medical Center, high-fibre foods are an excellent choice to help decrease your uric acid level. It will absorb uric acid and will eliminate them through urine. Include foods like watermelon and oats in your uric acid diet. 3. Cherries Cherries make an excellent option to be included in your uric acid diet plan. It helps in blocking the tubular reabsorption of urate and increasing urate excretion in the urine. Cherry will also block xanthine oxidase to decrease the production of uric acid. 4. Broccoli Broccoli is rich in fibre and vitamin C, making it an important food to be included in your uric acid diet plan. Since uric acid is formed from the breakdown of purines, broccoli, which is low in purines is a good option. 5. No bakery foods Avoid bakery foods rich in saturated fats and trans fats. This will make your uric acid level increased. The additives and preservatives in these foods will also contribute to the condition. Avoid sugary foods like cakes, pastries and cookies. 6. Limit fish and meat Consuming too much of red meat is another reason for having high uric acid levels. Certain fish like sardines and mackerel should also be avoided as this may cause an increase in your uric acid level. 7. Avoid alcohol Alcohol is an important cause of increased uric acid. It will interfere with the elimination of uric acid from our body. Consumption of alcohol will cause high uric acid, which will contribute to a gout attack. 8. No processed foods Avoiding processed food is the best thing that you can do to keep your uric acid level in the normal range. The additives and preservatives used in processed or canned food may have ingredients that may cause an increase in uric acid. Video URL : https://youtu.be/-9NbyiAGlak

A lot of foods aid in removal of the pain (garlic, ginger, turmeric), but lots of them also worsen the issue. IN CASE OF JOINT PAIN, AVOID THESE: RED AND PROCESSED MEAT Both have chemical purine and nitrite that make pain and inflammation worse. These foods also have toxins called glycation end products AGEs and they make inflammation more serious. A 2014 study of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences said that red meat glycan develops more inflammation and progress of cancer. Another study of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition made a link between red meat and inflammation markers. Replace the red processed meat with veggies and fruits. SUGARS AND ARTIFICIAL SWEETS. Too much sugar makes more AGEs and inflammation. Sugar triggers cytokines, the inflammation agent triggers. Also, the sugar causes weight gain and pressure on every joint. Also, avoid sodas and sweet drinks. A study of 2014, American Journal of Clinical Nutrition said regularly eating these things makes rheumatoid arthritis in women. Avoid the sodas, sweets, cereals with sugar, snacks, punches, pastries and candies. As healthy options consider stevia, honey or molasses. DAIRY. They worsen the pain because they have high amount of the protein causer of inflammation. The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine said this same protein also irritates surrounding joint tissue. That pain is also linked to saturated fats in dairy (cheese, milk, butter). Replace the pasteurized milk with almond, soy milk, tofu, margarine or similar. CORN OIL. This oil is full of omega 6 acids that are harmful for us. The Journal of Nutrition and Metabolism stated in one study that more omega 6 acids make more inflammation. Such foods are salad dressings, grapeseed and safflower oil, peanut, soy. Do not remove the omega 6 fully, it is still needed but in moderation. Eat more omega 3 acids of olive oil, flaxseed, nuts and pumpkin seeds. GRAINS AND REFINED FLOUR. Due to high glycemic index they trigger more AGEs and inflammation. Nutrients study published that daily eating wheat items and grain cereals can develop autoimmune diseases chronically. Such grains have little B vitamin and have empty calories. Eating them daily means more risk of diseases like heart issues, diabetes and even cancer. Replace the pasta, white flour, white rice, white bread with coconut/almond/whole grain/brown rice. EGGS. Eating them regularly means more pain and swelling in joints. The yolk in the egg makes inflammation since it has arachidonic acid that makes prostaglandins (causers of inflammation). They also have saturated fats, harmful too. For breakfast, at least remove the yolk and have just the whites. WHEY PROTEINS. The casein and gluten make the inflammation serious. The casein makes uric acid inside us. Too much of this acid inflames the joints and other parts too. This is called gout and can be serious up to the point of damage to the joints. Those sensitive to gluten foods can have chronic problem with this. A study of the Journal Nutrition Biochemistry, 2013, was said gluten free foods aid in inflammation reducing, adiposity and insulin resistance. Opt for the healthy options like lean proteins (beans, seeds, nuts) and less whey. REFINED SALT. This is the table salt we use daily. It is full of additives and chemicals that impair fluid balance inside us. Also, this salt has no natural minerals like phosphorus or silicon. Limit this salt use and you will keep all the calcium needed for healthy bones, against fractures or osteoporosis even. Eat it in minimal doses or buy Himalayan pink salt or sea salt. Also, avoid junk food – it is too salty. MONOSODIUM GLUTAMATE FOODS. The MSG additive makes better flavor in store bought foods like frozen snacks, chips, frozen dinner, Chinese food, salad dressing and soups. It is especially bad for those with rheumatoid arthritis. Eat fresh and natural, homemade foods. Avoid the aspartame foods too, like artificial sweeteners. BEER. Too much alcohol impacts the joints first. Those having beer often and too much, have worse joint health. the purines of it turn to uric acid and this inflames the joints. Beer also has gluten in it and those with fragile joints must avoid it all the time.

How to Overcome Adrenal Fatigue

06:58
For more info: https://draxe.com/3-steps-to-heal-adrenal-fatigue/?utm_campaign=Youtube-Nov-2014&utm_medium=social&utm_source=youtube&utm_term=adrenalfatigue In this video, I’m going to walk you through the steps to overcome adrenal fatigue. Most fatigue problems and adrenal insufficiency come from issues with the adrenal glands. About 80% of the population deals with this common problem. There are several warning signs that indicate you may have adrenal fatigue. If you struggle with fatigue, are stressed, anxious, have trouble with concentration, poor memory, thyroid issues, or gained mysterious weight, you may have adrenal fatigue. There are three steps you will want to take to get rid of adrenal fatigue for good. The first starts with your diet. Foods to get out of your diet are caffeine, sugar, and hydrogenated oils. Foods that are high in vitamin B12 and magnesium are going to support your adrenal glands and blood sugar levels, so you will want to add these foods into your diet. Foods like coconut oil, coconut milk, coconut, olives, olive oil, raw dairy products, grass-fed butter, organic meats, loads of vegetables, and seaweed are all crucial to your diet as well. Secondly, you will want to support your adrenals by taking supplements like adaptogenic herbs (such as ashwagandha, holy basil, and licorice root), which will help your body adapt and deal with stress. Additionally, a vitamin B complex, magnesium, vitamin D, selenium will support the healing of your adrenals. Lastly, you should focus on lowering your stress levels. Try getting 8-10 hours of sleep a night, reflect and address your stressors, add fun activities into your routine, and exercise. If you follow these three steps, you will be well on your way to naturally healing adrenal fatigue. Gout is mainly caused by consuming too much meat and animal fat. One of the symptoms is the overproduction of uric acid. The most important part of treatment is a diet low in this acid. Since potatoes contain very little uric acid, potatoes can be the main ingredient in an anti-gout diet. Is brown rice good for gout? There are many studies that easily prove that eating whole grains whether it be bread or pasta lowers the risk of developing many chronic diseases including gout. ... Yes, that means you can eat up to 50% of your daily calories as whole grain bread, pasta, quinoa or rice! What are the causes of gout? Gout is caused initially by an excess of uric acid in the blood (hyperuricemia). Uric acid is produced in the body through the breakdown of purines - specific chemical compounds that are found in high amounts in certain foods such as meat, poultry and seafood. Are peanuts good for gout? Peanuts are safe to eat if you have gout. Peanut contain purines -- compounds that your body metabolizes into uric acid -- but only small amounts. Uric acid buildup can cause gout, a painful arthritic condition that occurs when uric acid crystals lodge in the joints, causing swelling, pain and inflammation. Is Salmon good or bad for gout? Some seafood is higher in purines than others. The worst for people with gout are anchovies, codfish, haddock, herring, mackerel, mussels, roe (fish eggs), sardines, scallops, and trout. “Salmon appears to be an exception and a better choice of seafood for someone with gout,” Sandon says. Is Turkey good or bad for gout? Turkey and goose are higher in purines than other types of food, so it's best to avoid them. And gout-prone people should also keep their intake of wild game to a minimum. Chicken and duck are the safest choices, according to Dr. Zashin. However, leg meat is a better choice than a chicken breast with skin. How can uric acid be cured? However, in the event of disturbing symptoms, consult your physician to test uric acid levels and determine the best treatment for the underlying cause of hyperuricemia. Drink more water and less caffeine or alcohol. ... Stop eating purine loaded animal proteins. ... Eat a diet low in sodium and processed foods. What is a good diet for gout? Recommendations for specific foods or supplements include the following: High-purine vegetables. ... Organ and glandular meats. ... Selected seafood. ... Alcohol. ... Vitamin C. Vitamin C may help lower uric acid levels. ... Coffee. ... Cherries. What foods are good for gout? With that in mind, a gout diet should avoid or limit these foods: organ meats, brain, sweetbreads, heart, kidney, liver, beef, pork. What not to eat when you have gout? Foods to limit (very high in purines): Organ meats, such as liver, kidneys, sweetbreads, and brains. Meats, including bacon, beef, pork, and lamb. Game meats. Any other meats in large amounts. Anchovies, sardines, herring, mackerel, and scallops. Gravy. Beer. Is asparagus bad for gout? Certain vegetables, like asparagus and spinach, can trigger a gout flare-up, but they don't seem to cause as much harm as animal-based foods. Is Rice Healthy?

06:10
For more info: https://draxe.com/brown-rice-nutrition/?utm_campaign=Youtube-Sept-2015&utm_medium=social&utm_source=youtube&utm_term=rice Today I am answering the question, “Is rice healthy?” and explaining the difference between white rice and brown rice. My answer is that it really depends on you. I will show you the pros and cons of rice and go over what I believe is the healthiest rice today. There is a debate today about if you should consume rice or not: ⁃ The paleo diet community says to stay grain-free and therefore that rice is not healthy ⁃ Chinese medicine followers and vegans think rice can be an incredible superfood I believe there is validity to both but it depends on the person and the preparation of the rice. Rice to stay away from: Refined White Rice (This is not jasmine or basmati rice but the sticky white rice from fast food or Chinese restaurants.) Rice Cons: • Fiber, minerals and vitamins have been removed. • Study shows that people are twice as likely to develop diabetes as opposed to those eating whole grain brown rice. • Contains phytic acid (enzyme inhibitor) which keeps you from absorbing and digesting vitamins and minerals. • Contains proteins that are difficult to digest Rice Pros: • Whole grain brown rice is high in B3 which is good for heart health. • Whole grain brown rice is high in selenium which supports the thyroid and kidneys. • Certain types of rice contain GABA, a neurotransmitter that can support the brain and help reduce anxiety as well as support metabolism. So ... is rice healthy? Is brown rice healthy? It depends on how it is prepared. I believe if rice is soaked and sprouted, it unlocks the vitamins and minerals versus most rices that aren’t sprouted. I personally consume an organic rice from the company, True Roots. It is a germinated brown rice (soaked and sprouted) which kills off phytic acid and is easier to digest. In Chinese medicine, look up “qi” or “chi.” They believe that short grain brown rice increase your body’s “qi” which is your body’s life source and energy. It is considered to be one of the #1 healing foods. I suggest my patients make a “congee” with chicken bone broth, brown rice and vegetables such as carrots and celery. This chicken vegetable rice soup is healing and nourishing to the body. In conclusion, is rice healthy? Yes, it can be if you are doing sprouted rice that is traditionally prepared. Simply put, stay away from white refined rice that is void of vitamins and minerals and can cause a spike in your blood sugar and insulin levels. *This content is strictly the opinion of Dr. Josh Axe, and is for informational and educational purposes only. Gout is a type of arthritis that can affect different body parts like the ankles, knees, hands, wrists but mainly affects the big toe. Symptoms include acute pain, inflammation in the joints causing swelling and tenderness. Many gout sufferers have experimented with natural home remedies. What is a the true definition of a home remedy? It’s simply a medicine made with ingredients available at home. Here are the most popular natural home remedies voted by gout sufferers: 1. Apple Cider Vinegar: ACV is considered king when it comes to a gout natural home remedy and it’s my most popular post voted by social media. ACV helps your body become more alkaline and the acidity helps relieve acute gout pain. Many gout sufferers report drinking 1-2 tablespoons of raw unfiltered and organic apple cider vinegar in a glass of at least 8 ounces of water. Some will drink this 2-3 times a day for better results. ACV can also be used as topical treatment. You you can soak your foot for about 30 minutes in a bucket full of 4 cups of hot water and 1 cup of apple cider vinegar. You can also soak a clean, dry cloth in apple cider vinegar and wrap it around the affected area for about 15 minutes. 2. Baking Soda: Another extremely popular natural home remedy for gout sufferers is baking soda. Like apple cider vinegar, it makes your body more alkaline. Many consume ½ a teaspoon in a glass of 8 oz. water. Many will repeat this throughout the day until they have consumed at least 3 teaspoons of baking soda. It helps lower uric acid providing with relief from the pain at the same time. Avoid this home remedy if suffering from high blood pressure and try to limit salt intake in your meals during the day when taking baking soda. Baking soda is very high in sodium. The maximum recommended dose is 4 teaspoons throughout the day. 3. Cherries: Whether sweet or sour, cherries have been known to be extremely effective in treating gout and lowering uric acid due to their high antioxidant properties. In one study conducted with 600 people suffering from gout, it was concluded that eating half a cup serving of cherries daily (10-12 cherries) resulted in a 35% reduced risk of a successive gout attack. For those eating 2 or even 3 servings in a day, their risk dropped to 50%! But that is too much sugar as well which can cause other health ailments. Best recommendation is to use a tart cherry extract supplement and avoid the sugar intake if you can! 4. Ginger and/or Turmeric: The powerful anti-inflammatories present in ginger root and turmeric can be very helpful in easing gout pain and inflammation. I basically chop off a little piece the size of an inch and boil it for about 20 minutes and drink it as tea. You can also add ginger root and/or turmeric in cooking recipes. Some may also eat a small piece raw daily. Others use it topically to reduce swelling by making a paste of ginger root with water and then apply it to the affected area, leaving it on for about 30 minutes. 5. Water: Very simple, we all have it and it’s usually free. Drink plenty of it and flush excess uric acid out of your body. Staying hydrated is one effective way of limiting gout flares. Drink at least 8 glasses of water a day but if you can, why not strive for 12?! Make sure a water bottle is with you everywhere you go, I carry a bottle with me from morning to night and keep refilling it all day long. 6. Lemon Juice: Another natural home remedy that helps alkalize your body thus reducing uric acid in the blood, is drinking lemon juice. Many gout sufferers squeeze half a lemon in a glass of 8 oz. of water and drink it up to three times a day. Others will combine it with ½ a teaspoon of baking soda. Remember lemon juice is also high in vitamin C which also helps gout. 7. Celery Seeds: Another popular natural home remedy that helps lower uric acid and prevent gout according to many gout sufferers is celery seed extract. Celery seed simply stimulates your kidneys causing your kidneys to excrete more uric acid out of the body. Thus it causes you to visit the bathroom and urinate more. 8. Epsom Salt: There is no better topical treatment to treat a gout attack than epsom salt, widely used by many to relax muscles, aches and pains. The presence of magnesium which is an alkaline minreal in epsom salt also helps to treat gout. Before taking a bath, simply add 1 to 2 cups of Epsom salt in your bath and soak your entire body or affected joint, for at least 30 minutes. 9. Bromelain: Bromelain is a compound found in pineapples. The enzymes within it are frequently recommended for gout sufferers since it can lower uric acid and ease inflammation caused by gout. Again, bromelain is loaded with vitamin C as well which is also good for your gout. Bromelain is also considered a natural pain killer for many other ailments. 10. Vitamin C: A very popular vitamin with gout sufferers, let’s not forget vitamin C...

Dr. Berg's Electrolyte Powder: https://shop.drberg.com/electrolyte-powder-regular Take Dr. Berg's Advanced Evaluation Quiz: http://bit.ly/EvalQuiz Your report will then be sent via email analyzing 104 potential symptoms, giving you a much deeper insight into the cause-effect relationship of your body issues. It's free and very enlightening. Dr. Berg talks about gout and ketosis. Ketosis can increase uric acid during adaptation (1st month). Intermittent fasting can also cause retention of uric acid. Dr. Berg recommends adding organic lemon juice(Italian volcano Lemon juice) or fresh lemon and electrolyte powder, which will help increase potassium citrate. Potassium citrate is good for gout because it alkalizes this acidic state and helps reduce gout symptoms. Hello Dr. Berg here, in this video we are going to talk about Gout and Ketosis. In certain individuals that are predisposed into having high uric acid crystals or even kidney stones, ketosis can aggravate the situation and intermittent fasting can also cause retention of uric acid in certain people too which doesn’t normally lead to gout but can increase more uric acid. There are two simple things that you can do because when you have uric acid crystals, one remedy would be lemon juice. That’s why I recommend consuming a good amount of lemon juice in your diet when you do this because it is going to counter oxalates, uric acid and help flushed thins out. The other thing that you can do is to take electrolyte powder which has a thousand mg of potassium citrate. Potassium citrate is really good for gout because it alkalizes this acidic state and helps reduce the symptoms of gout and helps neutralize the uric acid build up. One important point is that, this uric acid build up is usually only on the first few weeks, it is not if you fully adapted to ketosis. It is in the adaptation that is why a lot of things shift and change when you are in the keto adaption phase, you might have keto flu, rash, fatigue and even flare up of gout. In summary, it is not going to be a problem for you but if you start feeling pain in your big toe as a gout, start increasing the potassium citrate or the lemon juice. Is Coffee Bad for You?

05:11
For more info: https://draxe.com/coffee-nutrition-facts/?utm_campaign=Youtube-Jan-2015&utm_medium=social&utm_source=youtube&utm_term=coffee One of the most common questions I’ve been getting recently is, “Is coffee bad for you?” The answer is, yes … and no. Coffee is beneficial because it contains massive amounts of antioxidants, which help slow the aging process and protect you from free radical damage. Coffee also helps stimulate the liver and increases circulation, helping blood flow to the brain. Coffee can be harmful in some ways because of the amount of caffeine it contains. The caffeine in coffee can overstimulate the body, burn out your adrenal glands, and overtax your body. About 80% of people in the world will struggle with thyroid problems or fatigue issues. For this group, I wouldn’t recommend coffee because it will burn out your adrenal glands. However, if you’re generally healthy, then drinking coffee in moderate amounts can be fine, and even good for your health. I wouldn’t recommend drinking coffee past lunch time because it can affect your sleep cycle that night. Depending on the condition of your body, if you’re suffering from an autoimmune disease, coffee can make your disease worse. If you’re pretty healthy, looking for a pick-me-up, or looking for more antioxidants, then coffee can provide you these benefits. When picking out your coffee beans, I would recommend choosing all natural, organic coffee because it’s one of the most highly sprayed plants in the world. Lastly, if you’re looking for a great substitute for coffee, I would suggest drinking matcha green tea because it has great benefits and one-third the amount of caffeine. *This content is strictly the opinion of Dr. Josh Axe, and is for informational and educational purposes only. How to Dissolve Kidney Stones (Part 1)

08:09
I recommend using this electrolyte powder to spike your potassium citrate and magnesium citrate: https://shop.drberg.com/electrolyte-powder-regular Take Dr. Berg's Advanced Evaluation Quiz: http://bit.ly/EvalQuiz Your report will then be sent via email analyzing 104 potential symptoms, giving you a much deeper insight into the cause-effect relationship of your body issues. It's free and very enlightening. Dr. Berg talks about dissolving kidney stones. Most stones are calcium oxalate stones. This is different than gallbladder stones. You need to consume lower oxalate in your diet. You also need to increase citrates in the diet. Citrates combine with stones. 1. The best way to do this is with lemon juice and potassium citrate. Magnesium is another good mineral, but take in citrate form https://link.springer.com/chapter/10.1007/978-1-4614-9575-8_4 2. Avoid oxalates (see below) 3. Avoid calcium from supplements, but dietary calcium is okay, since it can bind with calcium before it turns into stones. However, there is also mixed reviews on this and some say that taking calcium would be okay. 4. Of course if you have a kidney stone, adding more water will help, however, drinking excessive water in general without electrolytes will not prevent kidney stones. The key is drinking adequate amounts of fluid. Sometimes when I tell people not to drink excessive amounts, they interpret this as to avoid drinking water - no, just drink when you are thirsty and if you have a stone or develop stones easily, drink more. 5. Vitamin D most likely will help prevent kidney stones. This is an excellent read: http://oxvox.com/the-importance-of-vitamin-d-in-the-low-oxalate-diet/ https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2013/10/131017173352.htm 6. Vitamin K2 helps keep calcium out of the soft tissues of the body and this is a must. 7. There are mixed reviews on vitamin C (specifically ascorbic acid) on if it contributes to stone formation. 8. Too much sodium could contribute to stone formation in some people. HIGH OXALATE FOODS: Spinach Avocado Dates Grapefruit Potato Wheat Beans Canned pineapple FOOD LOW IN OXALATE Kale Cabbage Bok Choy Cauliflower Cucumber For Uric Acid Stones This can be triggered from higher amounts of insulin or sugar intake. It can also be triggered from ketosis. Potassium citrate will help this. GREAT REFERENCE ON OXALATES: Oxylates: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1nbDZPxhAW4It-m2-c460w6eGr4dMSIeDiQdqg3MaRgQ/edit#gid=1354389148 DATA ON SPINACH http://www.healwithfood.org/articles/oxalates-kale-spinach.php Dr. Eric Berg DC Bio: Dr. Berg, 51 years of age is a chiropractor who specializes in weight loss through nutritional and natural methods. 10 Serious Side Effects Of Beetroot For Health

04:52
10 Serious Side Effects Of Beetroot For Health. https://youtu.be/jfcHG4ArsfY Beetroot – A Brief. Primarily grown in North America, the beetroot is the taproot portion of the beet plant. It is one of the many varieties belonging to the species Beta vulgarism, all of which are known for their edible leaves and taproots. Beetroot has also been used as a medicinal plant and for food coloring. The vegetable has been used as a medicine since the Middle Ages, finding its application in treating numerous ailments. 1. Might Cause Beetroot. According to a UK study, this effect is more common in individuals deficient in iron . Another study conducted on eight individuals reported similar findings – all of them were given beetroot supplements, and seven of the eight participants showed signs of beetroot. 2. Kidney Stones. According to the Harvard Health Blog, beetroot is rich in oxalate that can cause kidney stones . If you already have stones, your doctor might advise you to quit beetroot or reduce its consumption. You may not be in danger if you don’t have a history of kidney stones. But if you do, you might contract the condition again upon beetroot consumption. 3. Rashes. One case of the presence of blood in urine is hematite. Though beetroot doesn’t cause this condition, the symptoms are similar to beetroot– urine being coke colored. Hence, if your urine is colored and you have been consuming beets, one reason could be beetroot. 4. Colored Stools. Beetroot contains a chemical named betacyanin, which gives the vegetable its deep red color. Though most foods are chemically altered and lose their coloration as they go through the digestive system, the breakdown of betacyanin might depend on certain factors. Blood in stools might indicate something serious. Beetroot can also cause a condition called melaena, which refers to tarry 5. Sudden Dips In Blood Pressure Levels. This could be a benefit. But if your blood pressure levels are already low or are fluctuating, then no. Because beetroot can cause sudden dips in blood pressure levels. One Australian study stated that beetroot juice might lower blood pressure in men when consumed as part of a normal diet. 6. Stomach Upset. Eating beets can also cause gas pains – pain that originates from the formation of gas in the stomach due to beetroot’s fiber content. Most of the time, passing gas or bowel movements can relieve gas pains. If not, do meet your physician. Being allergic to beets can also be one reason to develop issues like stomach cramps. 7. Spike In Blood Sugar. One of the concerning side effects of beetroot. This could be a serious concern for anyone who has blood sugar problems. Beets rate moderately high on the Hypoglycemic Index, which is a downside. Which is why it is best to avoid beets if you have issues related to your blood sugar levels. Beets might be an acceptable food on a diet designed for steady glucose levels. 8. Problems During Pregnancy. One compound in beetroot that causes concern for its use in pregnancy is Taine. As per studies, Taine had shown adverse effects in animal testing. And there are no adequate studies on pregnant women to support its safety. Also, pregnant women are more sensitive to the effects of nitrite. Beets being high in nitrites must hence be avoided by expecting mothers. And not just the mother, even the fetus could be more sensitive to the toxicity of nitrites – especially during the 30th week of pregnancy when there is a rise in oxidation stress. 9. Can Cause Gout. This type of arthritis that occurs due to excessive uric acid build-up can get extremely painful. The symptoms include extreme joint pains (particularly at the base of the toe), shiny red joints, and high fever. 10. Might Harm The Liver. Beets are rich in iron, magnesium, copper, and phosphorous – and that’s the good part. But the bad part is all of those are metals, and excessive consumption of these can lead to their accumulation in the liver. This can harm the liver and pancreas. Thanks For Watching My Video. What Causes Painful, Numb or Tingling Feet?

02:35
More Data on Nutritional Yeast Tablets: https://shop.drberg.com/nutritional-yeast-regular Dr. Berg talks about painful feet and potential reasons for this. It could be too much uric acid in the body from your kidneys not functioning, too much protein in the diet or even when you start a ketogenic diet, your uric acid levels can temporarily increase in which case you can take lemon juice, citrates or even potassium citrates. However, many times if the feet pain is burning, tingling or numbness, this could related to high sugars. High sugar destroys the nerves, it also depletes the B-vitamins, interfering the nerve conduction in the body. Nutritional yeast is a good source of B-vitamins. Peripheral neuropathy can be helped with the fat soluble B1-vitamin called benfotiamine.
