How to Deal with Teething | Infant Care
Watch more How to Take Care of a New Baby videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/502455-How-to-Deal-with-Teething-Infant-Care So teething can be a very stressful time for both the baby and a mom. And teething can actually start several months before the teeth actually erupt through the gum. You’ll notice that there’s increased drooling. You’ll notice that your normally happy baby is more irritable. You’ll notice that the babies put everything in their mouth including their hand. And the gums themselves may be very red. So there are a couple of ways to approach teething. The easiest is to get some nice cool frozen toys or a frozen washcloth and chew toys so that the baby can relieve the pain by kind of chewing through it. And again, those are readily available at many pharmacies and baby stores. If the pain is really bad, you can speak to your doctor about giving them Advil or Tylenol or Baby Motrin to help the discomfort. There are also a lot of topical options like this one, which is a benzocaine-free teething paste that actually numbs the gum. And they’re made by lots of different brands such as Anbesol and Oragel. Some of them have an ingredient called benzocaine in them and some do not, but what they essentially do is help numb the area, and help decrease some of the pain for the baby. How you would put that on would be to dip a little bit of the gel on a Q-tip, hold the baby’s face, pressing on the cheeks to release the mouth. And putting it in any area that you saw that was noticeably red, which may be the hurting tooth, or just simply on the gums themselves top and bottom. Taking a little Q-tip, rubbing on the bottom of the gum, rubbing on the top of the gum. And these are very harmless. This one is natural so if the baby swallows it, it’s not a problem, but it does help during that process. So using something like this and a teething toy, or if it’s really bad this, a teething toy and an Advil may really help your child during this time. So eventually, the teeth will come through and they will be a lot happier.

3 ways to care for your teething baby
Teething can be terrible for parents and babies alike, so if you have a teething baby, here's 3 things you can try to alleviate their discomfort. Number 1, get a clean washcloth, run it under cold water, wring out the excess water, and put it in the fridge or freezer for a few minutes till it gets chilled. Then give it to your baby and let them suck on it. They love to suck on everything anyway. But of course, supervise them so it doesn't pose a choking risk. Number 2, wash your hands thoroughly and inspect your baby's mouth. If you see a swollen spot on the gums, that's probably the point of irritation, and massage it with your fingers. And that's actually why babies chew on everything, because the pressure alleviates the pain. Number 3, talk with your pediatrician about over-the-counter pain relievers, like tylenol and motrin, that you can use on those days when your baby is extra fussy.

How to give Baby medicine without Spilling a drop
After many trials and errors, this is how I figured out how to dispense baby medicine without the baby spitting it out. I have to make sure she gets her entire dose, so I am extra careful no to spill. Just go slow and steady and about half way back on the tongue. Be careful not to gag the baby, but it's ok if they are crying. Sometimes that makes it easier. How to Treat & Reduce Your Baby’s Fever | TYLENOL®
One of the scariest moments as a parent is when your child or baby has their first fever. Know when to call a doctor and when to consider home remedies to help treat a fever. Some reasons to call a doctor include: • Your baby is younger than 3 months old and has a fever higher than 100.4°F • Your child of any age has a fever higher than 104.0°F • He has other symptoms like an earache, vomiting, severe sore throat, or unexplained rash • The fever lasts more than 24 hours in a child under 2 years old, or more than 72 hours in a child 2 years or older There are ways you can help at home in the meantime. Learn how to reduce a fever and keep your baby cool and comfortable with these simple steps: • Make sure your baby drinks plenty of fluids • While you never want to force them, kids can eat while they have a fever • You can give your child a lukewarm bath to cool the fever. Take your baby out of the bath if they start to shiver. For more information on how Infants’ TYLENOL® can help reduce the fever in infants, visit: https://www.tylenol.com/children-infants/fever
Should I include food when I give tylenol to my teething toddler?
You mentioned that you have a 2 year old son who's teething, and he's been waking up in the night hurting, and so you've been giving him Tylenol, and you're wondering if you should be giving it with food, or milk, or something. Tylenol isn't one of those medications that has to be taken with food, meaning that it won't be harmful to him if he takes it on an empty stomach. But most medications, Tylenol included, do have potential to irritate our stomachs and cause a little bit of discomfort. So it would be totally fine to give him a cracker or something with it, and after you administer it, give him some water just to wash it down. Good luck with everything, and if you have any other questions for me in the future, feel free to ask them on our Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/IntermountainMoms, and recommend us to your friends and family too.

FACEBOOK: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Paulthomasmd/106480022715622?ref=hl TYLENOL, IBUPROFEN,MOTRIN DOSAGE: http://drpaul.md/images/Forms/Dosage%20Chart.pdf This video is about Fever - Ask Your Pediatrician, Dr Paul defines fever and tips on what to do. For a child with fever, look at your child, and if really ill - get your child seen especially if lethargic, in pain, struggling to breath or suffering. What is a fever ; 38.2 c or 100.4 f based on oral under the tongue temperature. After age 3 months -an axillary digital thermometer is best. For less than 2 - 3 months age, take a digital rectal temperature and if a real fever have your infant seen. Past age 2 - 3 months, if your child looks good, this is not an emergency even at 104f / 40c. Most common cause of fever - viral -like colds. If super hot (104 or 39 - 40) do a sponge bath with cool wet clothes, treat the fever - double check the dose - ibuprofen if over 6 months old, and acetaminophen if under 6 months. If you get your child's fever down and they still look very ill - have them seen. Dose sheets available at drpaul.md

What happens when my child is teething, and how can I help him/her?
Teething is a process every infant goes through. A lot of parents think that their child is teething at about 4 months of age because they start to drool all the time. This is actually a normal finding in all 4 month olds, with the average age of the actual tooth erupting at about 6 to 9 months of age. So, drooling is not the best indicator of teething. You will often times see bulging of the gum's at the sight where the tooth is going to erupt. You may see it one day but not the next day because the teeth actually go up and down underneath the gums several times before they actually pop through, which is why it is such a painful process for a lot of infants. Normally the bottom two teeth erupt first, followed by the upper 4. What might you see in association with teething? A fussy infant with bulging at the gums. Some parents will actually see that their child is reaching at or grabbing their ears. Teething pain can actually be referred to the ears, but unless your child has a cold at the same time, often times they don't have an ear infection. Sometimes you child may not eat as much as they normally would, or tend to bite down instead of suck and swallow, as a way to try and relieve the teething pain. What can you do for teething? You can give them something cold to suck on. Putting teething rings and rattles in the fridge so they're cold, that could feel really good on the gums. If it's really severe, you could try some acetaminophen as well. And just offering you child things that they can suck on and bite on is really helpful for them.

Teething Pain: FDA Warns Of Danger In Painkiller
The Food and Drug Administration warned on Thursday against using a lidocaine solution as a pain reliever on teething babies' gums, saying it can cause deaths and serious injuries in infants and toddlers. The FDA said it had reviewed 22 reports this year of serious reactions, including deaths, in children ages 5 months to 3.5 years who were given the lidocaine solution or who swallowed it by accident. The agency will now require a boxed warning on the label for prescription oral viscous lidocaine 2 percent solution to highlight that it should not be used for teething pain. http://feeds.nbcnews.com/c/35002/f/663303/s/3bea7468/sc/14/l/0L0Snbcnews0N0Chealth0Ckids0Ehealth0Cteething0Epain0Efda0Ewarns0Edanger0Epainkiller0En141851/story01.htm http://www.wochit.com

Infant Teething Pain Relief Tips: Comforting & Soothing Your Baby’s Gums
Infant Teething Pain Relief Tips: Comforting & Soothing Your Baby’s Gums http://gumdoc.info https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCHmD6ArVXu6OUS62-XzUiog When your baby can't sleep because of teething pain, there are several methods you can use to help comfort her. You can use topical medicines to anesthetize the sore gums; internal pain medications in pill or liquid form can reduce the pain perception at the level of the brain, homeopathic remedies can stimulate the body to produce its own pain relief and home remedies like cold foods, massage and things to bite on can either numb the gums or reduce the pain from pressure. Infant Teething Pain Relief Tips: Comforting & Soothing Your Baby’s Gums You can soothe sore gums by letting your child chew or suck on chilled teething rings, frozen baby bagels or popsicles, but when teething pain causes your child trouble sleeping, you may decide to turn to medicine to help you and your baby get some rest. Baby versions of both Motrin and Tylenol are available, and you can get your child's correct dosage of Ibuprofen you’re your pharmacist. Some parents find that their infants do better with one medicine than with another, so you may want to try one first and then compare their effects. Infant Teething Pain Relief Tips: Comforting & Soothing Your Baby’s Gums Other ways of helping your child cope with the pain of a coming tooth include simply massaging the gums with your own finger, which can alleviate the tooth pain by equalizing the pressure on the gums as the tooth below is pressing upwards. Letting a child chew on a pacifier may also help, and you may keep spare binkies in the fridge so you can swap for a cool one once in awhile. Lots of parents say that letting their child suck on a cold, wet washcloth helps, and even thought it's a homely sort of remedy, enough people swear by it that it would be wrong to ignore the advice. The other bonus is that the washcloth can absorb some of the drool that can otherwise drench an infant from head to toe.

How can I help my teething child?
How can I help my teething child? www.greatparentingsupplies.com Teething is one of those things that most first time parents fear. A teething child will spend time going back and forth between cranky and miserable and this definitely takes a toll on both the child and the parents. To ease the pain of teething, consider giving your child a cold, wet teething ring to chew on. This will ease the pain and distract the child. If your child is older than 6 months, you can consider giving Children's Tylenol or Children's Motrin per your pediatrician's advice. Most pediatricians advise that you stay away from numbing agents, which can reduce suckling instinct and reduce the amount that your child will eat while they are teething. Safely Dosing Acetaminophen for Your Baby or Infant
Pediatrician Dr. Wendy Sue Swanson informs parents that babies younger than 3 months of age with signs of a fever or infection should always go to their pediatrician. For older infants it’s okay to provide acetaminophen, but ensure you use the provided dosing device and dose based on your child’s weight, not age. Hello Teeth Goodbye Sleep!
Hello Teeth Goodbye Sleep! Tylenol or Motrin are your not-so-secret sleep aids. Why? Because they’re the only things that will sooth sore gums while your baby sleeps. Depending on which medicine you prefer your average baby dose will cover anywhere from 4-8 hours of teething pain. Which means if your baby sleeps 10-12 hours a night one dose won’t get them through the night. You want to give your baby their first night dose at the most logical time based on the doseage of whatever (Tylenol, Motrin, et al) you are working with. For example if your pain reliever works on a 6-hour dose and your baby wakes to nurse at midnight then you’ll want to give them their medicine at 6:00 PM so that you can give them a second dose during the midnight feeding. This would presumably cover them until 6:00 AM which should be close enough to their normal wakeup to work

Now and again parenthood can be an intense racket. Serena Williams on Sunday connect on Instagram for help to facilitate her 3-month-old girl's getting teeth inconvenience ― and the tennis star's own pressure. She recorded a portion of the cures she's strove for Alexis Olympia yet without any result. "It's making me extremely upset," Williams composed. Among the suggestions offered to Williams ― who sits on the leading body of guides to Oath, HuffPost's parent organization ― were "child Motrin" and "wrapping a clove of garlic in a sterile dressing and rub it on the infant's gums 2 times each day." The Mayo Clinic exhorts rubbing your infant's gums with a perfect finger or applying a chilly washcloth to the gums, and drying the dribble to forestall skin disturbance. What's more, if the youngster is "particularly crotchety," Tylenol or kids' Motrin "may help." In any case, stay away from solutions that contain benzocaine. NEVER LEAVE YOUR CHILD ALONE WHILE THEY"RE TEETHING!! You never know what they could put in their mouth O_O This video is recommended for babies 4-12 months. NOT for those with lost of teeth. Because yes, they can get a little enthusiastic and eat/tare apart the plastic. That's why supervision is needed. I mean, come one... babies need supervision ALL the time. So don't be dumb. Watch your babies no matter what You can also use, milk, juice, water and infant Tylenol/water mix. Make sure you only use the Tylenol/water mixed cubes once every FOUR hours. Use the plain water ice cube for extra soothing in between the Tylenol mix.

12 Tips for Baby's Month 6 Doctor Visit | Baby Development
Watch more Newborn & Baby Development videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/506133-12-Tips-for-Babys-Month-6-Doctor-Visit-Baby-Development At six months, your child will come for a full physical and check up. At six months, your child will get the third set of the primary series of vaccines. Polio vaccine, the three tetanus pertussis vaccine, pneumococcal vaccine, haemophilus influenza type B vaccine, hepatitis B vaccine, and rotavirus vaccine. You should discuss with your doctor, the schedule that your doctor uses. At six months, babies ore often sitting up, or trying to sit up. And this is very exciting for the parents. Babies are exploring their surroundings, they're cooing, and giggling, and laughing. They're often trying to speak using consonants or vowels, like ba, ba, ba, ba, or ma, ma, ma, ma. They use vowels, sounds like A and E. Babies are starting to put a lot of things in their mouth, and they're very drooly at this stage, because they're often teething. It's not uncommon for a baby to go through five or six bibs a day, because of the constant drool, and that's often a concern to the parents. But this is normal, because they have a lot of extra saliva when their teeth are coming out, and drooling is not a problem. It's just a problem to keep on washing the clothes. At six months, babies are trying more solid foods. They're eating fruits and vegetables, all stage one, because they cannot have the chunks that are in the stage two and stage three foods. And they're often trying to pull up, sometimes getting up on their knees. Some babies are actually on their knees, and rocking back and forth, trying to crawl. If your baby's not doing that, that's okay. Some babies are just trying to sit up, and that's what they do all day. I often say that their coming in and doing, like, sit ups, because they're like, ahh. They're trying to get up, they're trying to get up all day and working on their abs. And then some babies just need a little assistance to get up at six months, and then they lean over, and we call that the tripod. They tripod and they hold themselves up. And that's on their way to being able to sit up independently. After the six month visit, you won't have another visit until nine months. So this is the first time that you're going to have a three month gap between seeing your pediatrician. So make sure you ask all your questions about developmental milestones between the six month and nine month visit. In addition, make sure you get the dosing for Tylenol, and or Motrin, or Ibuprofen, because at this age your child can start taking Ibuprofen or Acetaminophen for fever.
