Building and Office Evacuation Training Video - Safetycare Workplace Fire Safety
There are many reasons why a building, or a group of buildings may need to be evacuated including: • Fires • Chemical Spills • Toxic or Explosive Gas Releases, • Explosions • Violent Behaviour, and • Bomb Threats. The larger the building, the more organisation is required to ensure everyone is evacuated effectively and as safely as possible. But regardless of the size or type of building or buildings, or number of employees, every organisation should have a tried and tested evacuation plan. This program covers: • The Evacuation Plan • The Evacuation Team • The Chief Warden • Your Responsibility • Training and Practice Every Building must have a tried and tested evacuation plan, and everyone must be familiar with it, and know their role.

Best Emergency Action Plan
An emergency action plan describes the actions employees should take to ensure their safety if a fire or other emergency situation occurs. Well-developed emergency plans and proper employee training (where employees understand their roles and responsibilities within the plan) will result in fewer and less severe injuries and less structural damage to the facility.A poorly prepared plan could lead to a disorganized evacuation or emergency response, resulting in confusion, injury and property damage. Putting together a comprehensive emergency action plan that deals with those issues specific to your worksite is not difficult. It involves conducting a workplace evaluation that describes how people will respond to different types of emergencies, taking into account your specific worksite layout, structural features and emergency systems. Most organizations find it beneficial to include a diverse group of representatives (management and employees) in this planning process and to meet frequently to review progress and allocate development tasks. Your planning process and site-specific emergency action plan should address each of the following elements: Preferred procedures for reporting emergencies such as dialing 911, or an internal emergency number, or pulling a manual fire alarm. A description of the alarm system to be used to notify all people (including disabled employees) to evacuate and/or take other actions. The alarms used for different actions should be distinctive – horn blasts, sirens, or even public address systems. An evacuation policy, procedures and escape route assignments so employees understand who is authorized to order an evacuation, under what conditions an evacuation would be necessary, how to evacuate, and what routes to take. Evacuation procedures often describe actions employees should take before and while evacuating such as shutting windows, turning off equipment, and closing doors behind them. Exit diagrams are typically used to identify the escape routes to be followed by employees from each specific facility location. Procedures for employees who remain on site after the evacuation alarm sounds, if required, before evacuating. Someone may be required to operate fire extinguishers or shut down gas and /or electrical systems and other special equipment that could be damaged if left operating or create additional hazards to emergency responders (such as releasing hazardous materials). Procedures to account for employees after the evacuation to ensure that everyone got out. This might include procedures for designated employees to sweep areas, checking offices and rest rooms, before being the last to leave a workplace or conducting a roll call in the assembly area. Many employers designate an “evacuation warden” to assist others in an evacuation and to account for personnel. The duties, responsibilities and names of employees assigned with rescue and medical tasks. Most small organizations rely on local public resources such as the local fire department or hospital to provide these services. A description of how employees will be informed of the contents of the plan and trained in their roles and responsibilities. The names, titles, departments and phone numbers of employees who can be contacted for additional information or clarification of some aspect of the plan. A list of key personnel who should be contacted during off-hour emergencies. Although they are not specifically required by OSHA, you may find it helpful to include in your plan the site of an alternative communications center to be used in the event of a fire or explosion. Find a secure on-or-off-site location to store original or duplicate copies of accounting records, legal documents, your employees’ emergency contact lists, and other essential records. The best emergency action plans include employees in the planning process, specify what employees should do during an emergency, and ensure that employees receive proper training for emergencies. When you include your employees in your planning, encourage them to offer suggestions about potential hazards, worst-case scenarios, and proper emergency responses. After you develop the plan, review it with all employees. Keep a copy of your emergency action plan in a convenient location so it’s easily accessible, or provide a copy to all employees. Democracy - A short introduction
Learn more about the origins of Democracy at the Great Courses Plus: http://bit.ly/Learn-About-Democracy This is a 3 minute video to introduce the most basic concepts of a Democracy. Democracy is a form of government in which all eligible citizens participate equally—either directly or indirectly through elected representatives—in the proposal, development, and creation of laws. It encompasses social, religious, cultural, ethnic and racial equality, justice, liberty and fraternity. To download the video, go here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B80QLbZggGszblRxZ3hLMU5kZWc/edit?usp=sharing More Info: - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democracy If you know of more links with good infos please let us know in the comments and we'll add them here. Collaboration: - Storyboard: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B80QLbZggGszcEE2N19EcjRlLVk&usp=sharing Please help us make this video better by collaborating on the scrip and storyboard. We're really looking forward to your comments :) === Video Script: Scene 1 The word democracy comes from the Greek words of “démos” which means “people” and “krátos” which means “power” or “rule”, So democracy basically means “the rule of the people.” Scene 2 Democracy first started as a direct democracy, in Greek cities, notably Ancient Athens, where people came together to speak about their concerns and opinions, in front of rulers of the city state, and directly voted on new rules and laws. Here is considered as the birthplace of democracy . Scene 3 So, For the very first time, decisions were made by the people instead of rulers... but sadly, the ancient greeks did not see all people equally. Slaves, women, children and the people who did not have a land weren’t allowed to vote. This is what we call a “flawed” democracy today. Scene 4 After the Greeks lost their power and influence in the first century AD, their early forms of democracy were also fading away until the Magna Carta was signed in 1215, which prevented the King of England to do whatever he wanted and said that even the King had to follow the country’s rules and laws which were written in the constitution. Scene 5 Today, most democracies are indirect or representative which means that you can’t vote for a new law yourself, but you can vote for people who then become law makers and present your interests. But democracy isn’t just about voting; it’s about everything to protect the best interests of the people, no matter what is their race, gender, political opinion, or religion. These interests can be human rights, quality of life, infrastructure and many more. Scene 6 Modern democracies divide powers into three different branches : the legislative (the people who make law), the executive (the people who make sure that you obey the law), and the judiciary (who judge you if you commit a crime). These three are independent and work following the process « checks and balances » which means all the work must be clear and fair. And, very important, the people who have power also must follow the law and not exceed their authority. Scene 7 In addition, a democratic government must work in a way that reflects the wish /feeling/desire and values of the society that it governs—this is also known as the « General Will », which is a concept developed by the famous Swiss philosopher Jean-Jacques Rousseau. Scene 8 One of the problems of democratic voting is that the biggest groups of people always have the most power and that’s why a good democracy also has laws to protect the rights of its smaller and weaker groups. A democracy where the majority chooses to separate, set apart, expel or injure its minority is not a functioning democracy! Scene 9 So, with those mentioned above, what do you think now about democracy? Winston Churchill once said: “Democracy is the worst form of government, except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time.” Do you agree? === with love your MinuteVideos team https://minutevideos.com/

PDNA Emergency Preparedness #1 (9/24/11)
It has come to the attention of the Pearl District Neighborhood Association's Livability Committee that many of the residential buildings and businesses in our "mixed use" neighborhood do not have Emergency Preparedness Plans in place. As a result, we are ill-prepared to help one another in the event of natural or human-caused hazards. In response, the Livability Committee has done a considerable amount of research and development for an Emergency Preparedness Workshop & Resource Fair for the neighborhood at large. This event will occur in September, which is National Emergency Preparedness Month. The mission for this event is two-fold: 1) to increase our community's level of awareness that risk reduction can be achieved through education and Emergency Preparedness Planning; and 2) a Resource Fair which provides the tools needed for residential buildings, small businesses, organizations and individuals to develop EP Plans which are unique to each setting. For example, there will be take-away information on Evacuation Systems for High-Rise Buildings, Small Business Emergency Planning, Family Disaster Plans, EP for Special Needs Individuals, Ready-Set-Go for Children, Caring for Animals, Emergency Supplies Kits, etc. We are making this special plea to our entire neighborhood to get involved. Please save the date, and join us! We hope to see you there. Video/Slideshow By: Guy Bodin/The Image Factor/Photographer

Develop a personal security plan
These are the categories I use when I'm developing a Security Plan based on a detailed vulnerability assessment. They apply for all types of security from Computer Security to Information Security to Business Security. Deter - If it's working you may never know Detect - How can you do anything if you don't see the threat Delay - This gives you time to react. It has to happen after detection or it's useless Deliberate Action - This is how you actually react to protect yourself Look at your Security Plan and you will see that everything you do falls into one or more of these categories. Also, let me know what methods you use to round out these categories. Employee Assistance Program for Small Businesses in the South Valley
The Enhancement Center (abqmentalhealth.com) is developing an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) specifically designed for small businesses in the South Valley area, with services starting in fall, 2015. An EAP is a set of preventive services that businesses can purchase for $1-$4 per employee per month as a benefit, with an extremely positive return on the investment (ROI). Many studies have shown very conclusively that EAPs significantly reduce absenteeism, turnover and health-related costs, while improving productivity and morale. The purpose of creating Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is to help small business owners retain and get the most out of their employees. When employees’ personal and work concerns are addressed by brief, solution-focused services, organizations can be greatly stabilized. Traditionally, this benefit is available only to large businesses. The Enhancement Center is committed to a social justice model of EAP, i.e., one that serves small businesses in areas that have less resources, such as the South Valley, through a culturally adapted model of EAP services at the same affordable price. The Enhancement Center wants YOU, the small businesses of the South Valley, to tell us WHICH of the possible services you would use, if you had an EAP benefit. To determine this, we have a short survey in Spanish or English for small businesses of the 87105, 87121 and 87102 zip code areas, with prizes of movie passes and pizza parties! There are 4 options of how to complete the survey: 1. On-line, through Survey Monkey [give the link right here, specifying Spanish or English]; 2. Through e-mail; or 3. At your organization’s site, with a 5 minute presentation in Spanish or English about this program. We would love to come give a presentation to your organization, with no commitment to purchasing services! 4. An information session Wednesday, April 8th from 5:15-6 p.m.at the Hispano Chamber, 1309 4th St., Lockheed Martin Room, west building, 1st floor. Refreshments will be available. Please RSVP to theamue@gmail.com. To schedule an on-site presentation for completing the survey, or to receive the survey by e-mail, please contact Thea at theamue@gmail.com. For program questions on this small business EAP, please contact Hilary at hilaryheyl@gmail.com.

[APPLY NOW]Business action plan
http://bit.ly/1pbwZMe - Get a business action plan Get Started Discussing & Get More Customers Quickly This informative article is for you whether you have never talked to an audience before or even in the event that you are a veteran speaker....let me tell you why. Being in business for quite a while now I have found among the simplest and quickest methods to get more customers would be to get in front of a lot of individuals simultaneously and to be the specialist. There are a number of methods to do this yet not only your typical stand up in front of a group of individuals and talk manner. This is the reason this is great for everybody. Because if you are already discussing live at occasions, little or big, in person, that is wonderful. Are you really making money at it? I am not talking about getting paid to talk, that is the 'old version'. I am referring to earning money in the rear of the room with your goods, services, etc. and tons of cash, not only a couple hundred dollars selling your novel or something. In the event you are already doing that, amazing, then you definitely would like to next work on the best way to optimize your conversations and chances more you are likely missing out on a huge number of dollars in sales and additional advantages you haven't thought of negotiating yet. If this is all you are doing yet, discussing live in man then you definitely are also passing up tremendous opportunities to get in front of large crowds who'll purchase, there are many more methods to leverage yourself as well as talk in other manners. Here are 6 ways you'll be able to discuss to bigger groups of individuals simultaneously and maybe sell your stuff also: 1. Speaking in person at live events (clear) - this contains local or not local chamber occasions, organizations, expos, conventions, business groups, etc. 2. Talking as a guest on a teleclass or telesummit (these are becoming quite popular and simple to locate) - this contains your own teleclasses, other folks's teleclasses, group membership teleclasses or training groups, summits with multi-speakers on them, etc. 3. Talking as an expert at on-line virtual occasions - this is a brand new theory, many organizations are taking their conventions 'on-line' and making them accessible to their members who reside everywhere who can login and see from their office or home. Moreover, many big workshops who bring in external speakers are also going viral, they're streaming live throughout their occasion on the internet for internet attendees as well - some for free, some for a paid ticket. 4. Talking on on-line radio shows - you can either have your own show that's super easy and affordable today to do or it is possible to be a guest on different people's shows (There are thousands of them online right now searching for great guests as I write this.) 5. Talking in the media - you've a variety of free marketing opportunities right in front of your nose with even only your local area TV and radio shows but you are most likely NOT taking advantage of those. The issue is that you do not understand how to contact them or what to tell them you can offer that they had need correct? So get some help with that, that is among the places I teach I get quite a lot of play in the media. 6. Talking in arbitrary locations including a cruise ship - Were you aware you can get a complimentary cruise to wherever you need in the event that you get picked to talk on a cruise ship? I've many friends who have done this, they get to talk and assemble leads, make sales plus love a good holiday! Now in the event you are reading this and saying to yourself "Yeah Kat, but I'm scared to speak in front of a group", then begin with the teleclasses or on-line radio shows first to get your feet wet. You do not have to stand up in front of anyone and you can even write out what you would like to say ahead so you do not forget if you get nervous no one will see your script or notes. If you would like to have more customers, you must do some of this stuff - I do it all. In the event you are frightened to talk, you should learn so that you can get better. Stop with the explanations and let us go! It is straightforward, if you are prepared to get serious about your company and set a actual advertising and business Action Plan into area and study just the best way to do this as well as multiple other marketing strategies.

Senate Approves Health Insurance Premium Relief Plan
On a 35 to 31 vote, the Minnesota Senate gave its final approval to SF 1, the proposed 2017 Health Care Emergency Aid and Access Act. The measure, sponsored by Senator Michelle Benson, R-Ham Lake, would provide health insurance premium relief to individuals facing rising costs and ineligible for federal assistance. The bill also establishes several reform measures. The plan would cost about $300 million dollars. For the first three months, all individuals would qualify for a 25 percent premium reduction. For the remainder of 2017, individuals earning less than $95,040 and families with household incomes below $194,400 would continue receiving a discounted premium based upon their income. . The measure also designates funds to allow patients engaged in treatment to continue receiving their same care. Other reform efforts would allow for-profit HMO's to enter the individual market and ease ways for small businesses to offer affordable insurance plans. Senate DFL members argued that action on health care reform measures should occur independently of the premium rebate plan. They defended Governor Dayton's position that the Republican plan would be costly to administer and would delay reductions for several months. Republican legislators, including Benson, said that the state should not spend $300 million dollars without enacting reform measures. The bill was sent to the House of Representatives.

"How did you handle a difficult situation?" in Job Interview
"Tell me about a difficult situation or challenge you faced in a workplace" By asking this question, employers are trying to see how you (A) take charge in handling a challenging situation, or (B) collaborate with your coworkers as a team to solve a conflict. They want to know if you have critical thinking and problem solving skill, how you approach the problem and the level of responsibility you take in challenging situations. It is very important to make sure that you use an example that demonstrates your ability to handle difficult situation. So do not mention about when you elevated the responsibility. Rather, talk about times when you stepped up and took a leadership position by collaborating with your coworkers. In order to construct effective story, use PAR model and follow the 3 steps. 1 Problem: Identify the problem. What was the issue? 2 Action: How did you and your coworkers analyzed the problem and took actions to solve the issue? 3 Result: What was the positive outcome in result of the action? By following PAR model, you can frame your story well. Watch the video to see example answer and start constructing your answer. Jobspeaker is a FREE service to help job seekers find better jobs. Planning for the Safety of Minors: Routine and Emergency Situations
In this webinar, Ann H. Franke, president of Wise Results, LLC, brings attention to an issue that often goes unnoticed. Look around campus and you’ll notice lots of kids. They come without parents, particularly during the summer, to attend camps and academic enrichment programs. Your institution probably runs year-round tutoring, both on- and off-campus, K-12 school partnerships, and lots more. Most institutions develop their safety and emergency protocols to meet the needs of college students and adult visitors. This webinar explores key questions to consider when hosting youth programs on campus. Webinar participants learn vital issues they should raise at their own institutions and practical options for resolving them.

You Have the Right to Remain Silent – California Bill Strengthens Miranda for Kids
Take Action: http://fairsentencingforyouth.org/miranda-rights-for-youth/ Currently in California, children—no matter how young— can waive their Miranda rights. When law enforcement conducts a custodial interrogation, they are required to recite basic constitutional rights to the individual, known as Miranda rights, and secure a waiver of those rights before proceeding. The waiver must be voluntarily, knowingly, and intelligently made. Miranda waivers by juveniles present distinct issues. Recent advances in cognitive science research have shown that the capacity of youth to grasp legal rights is less than that of an adult. This is especially true for very young, developmentally disabled, or cognitively delayed children, and for those with mental health problems.

Martin Luther King Jr., "The Drum Major Instinct" FINAL Sermon --- COMPLETE
MLK's last SERMON... prophetically ends with his own eulogy, beginning at 35:07. Delivered to Ebenezer Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia on February 4, 1968. Not to be confused with his last SPEECH "I've Been to the Mountaintop" given two months later on April 3, 1968 in Memphis, Tennessee. Also, there's an edited 19 minute version floating around... it's missing 3 sections and actually CUTS OFF HIS FINAL SENTENCE! Unbelievable... TEXT: http://kingencyclopedia.stanford.edu/encyclopedia/documentsentry/doc_the_drum_major_instinct/ Synopsis: King's "Drum Major Instinct" sermon, given on 4 February 1968, was an adaptation of the 1952 homily ''Drum-Major Instincts'' by J. Wallace Hamilton. King encouraged his congregation to seek greatness, but to do so through service and love. King concluded the sermon by imagining his own funeral, downplaying his famous achievements and emphasizing his heart to do right.
