Radiation Therapy impairs Health

23:01
Radiation Therapy destroys Health Radiotherapy is the most dangerous treatment of cancer and medicine . Nevertheless millions of cancer patients are exposed to it Most physicians are not aware of the radiation threat since medical schools do not teach radiobiology and radiation pathology. Cancer therapy has many side effects, which I regard as treatment induced diseases. Generally when treatment is ove,r organism recovers. On the other hand, organism does not fully recover from radiotherapy. While organism is fully equipped to recover from chemotherapy induced disease, it lacks means to recover from radiotherapy. Each radiation quantum causes irreversible damage which accumulates with time. It gradually demolishes health and raises the threat of death. Tissues are composed of proliferative units (TPUs) each nourished by a stem cell. TPU consists of two compartments. Stem cell at tissue origin divides and its progeny stream through the unit, differentiating as they go. Breast is a biomarker of radiation damage in adjacent tissues. 48.6% of women had radiation damaged, lung, rib, sternum and heart. Damage intensity depends on their position under the isodose surface. It may be small but accumulates with time, and is irreversible. Every woman treated with breast conserving surgery receives radiotherapy. It is supposed to prevent tumor recurrence. Which is false. Radiotherapy delays tumor recurrence which may be achieved also with chemotherapy. Radiotherapy does not cure nor prevent brain metastases. Do not treat metastases which do not cause discomfort (neurological signs). When patient suffers start with chemotherapy. Radiotherapy is justified as last resort. And then as local therapy e.g. Stereotactic Radio surgery. Whole-brain radiotherapy ought to be forbidden! Radiotherapy is justified only when applied to localized lesions, like metastasis in a vertebra. In some women radiotherapy of the breast initiates a subclinical disease, manifested by cough which is attributed to an unresolved flu. Radiation pneumonitis emerges after several years, and the patient dies of emphysema. Radiotherapy is the most dangerous treatment of cancer and medicine. Most doctors are not aware of its danger. What is even less known that radiotherapy accelerates aging. Aging is driven by a rising pancytopenia. Since radiotherapy destroys cells it contributes to pancytopenia and so accelerates aging.

Novel Breast Cancer Treatment Proves Safe and Effective While Also Reducing Side Effects

01:31
Experts at The James are using a novel breast cancer treatment with patients lying on their stomachs, rather than their backs, for radiation therapy. By having a patient lying in the prone position during treatment, the breast assumes a more regular and natural shape while also moving it away from the chest wall, which protects the heart and lungs from any additional radiation that those organs might receive. In many cases, radiation is given with the patient lying on her back, and while this can be very effective and safe, having the woman lie on her stomach will not only protect other organs from additional radiation, it will also reduce side effects during treatment and even out the dose of radiation to the breast.
Radiotherapy for breast cancer increases risk of cardiovascular disease

01:44
Gabe Sonke, MD, PhD, from the Netherlands Cancer Institute, Amsterdam, Netherlands, discusses his research on the late side effects of breast cancer treatment presented at the European Cancer Congress of the European Cancer Organisation (ECCO) 2017 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. By combining information from different patient databases, as well as information from the patients’ healthcare practitioners, Dr Sonke explains how his research has shown that radiotherapy for breast cancer also affects the heart and increases the risk of myocardial infarction later in life. He points out that this needs to be considered when discussing risks with patients, and should also be taken into account by healthcare practitioners outside the oncology field.

Preventing a side effect of breast cancer treatment

02:44
CINCINNATI (Liz Bonis) - Breast cancer specialists at Bethesda North Hospital say new technology is now making a big difference for women living longer after breast cancer. It's a whole new way of treating breast cancer. Rather than just focusing on killing the cancer, experts at the Mary Jo Cropper Center for Breast Care at Bethesda North Hospital are focusing on preventing one potentially deadly side effect for women in a very unique way. The call came in right after Ginny Reynolds' had what she thought was a routine mammogram. "I was at my mother's in Lexington, Kentucky and they said you have cancer," she remembered. That cancer turned out to be on Ginny's left side and she was referred to a team of radiology experts. Dr. Jess Guarnaschelli says we now know, "If we inadvertently treat the left breast with radiation, for these left sided breast cancer patients, we can cause cardiac injury 10, 20, 30 years down the line." So to spare her heart, Ginny was trained in what's now called a deep inspiration breath hold; she refers to it as, "This little thing of doing yoga breathing while you are having radiation can make such a big difference, it's amazing." "What that does is that pushes the diaphragm down and thins out the heart so that when we deliver radiation to the left breast, we can avoid the heart," said Dr. Guarnaschelli. When a patient holds their breath that way, it moves the chest wall away from the area that needs the radiation, so the heart is missed. Without the deep breath, the chest wall and the heart would be almost touching. So far in follow up visits for Ginny, her cancer is gone and her heart is unharmed.
