Adventist HealthCare Report: Judith's Story
When Judith Mufuh sat down to watch a video about the Seventh-day Adventist Church for her new job, she had no idea how profoundly it would impact her life. She had recently started working as a chaplain at Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center in Rockville, Md., and her manager, Dr. Shelvan Arunan, gave her the video to learn more about the faith-based roots of the hospital. “When the video ended, my husband and I sat in silence and awe of how inspiring and moving it was,” Mufuh says. “Having studied theology, I was familiar with the history of many denominations, but I was very intrigued by the uniqueness of the Adventist faith.” READ MORE: http://www.columbiaunionvisitor.com/2016/chaplain%E2%80%99s-journey-adventist-faith Video by Eugene Simonov

Angela Reid looks at the glass half full. “That comes from my faith and trusting God for my everything,” the Silver Spring, Md., resident says. This isn’t what you’d expect from a woman who just finished six months of chemotherapy. Keeping her glass—and her pantry—full these days are weekly deliveries of fruit and vegetables, courtesy of a program at Adventist HealthCare Washington Adventist Hospital that helps recently discharged patients eat healthier. “I love to cook healthy food, so I really appreciate it,” says Reid, 56, a member of Wheaton Seventh-day Adventist. “And because of the cancer, I’m limiting the toxins that go into my body by eating fresh, organic food.”

EagleBank Raises $266,000 At Golf Classic to Fight Breast Cancer
EagleBank, a subsidiary of Eagle Bancorp, Inc. (NYSE:EGBN), raised more than $266,000 at the EagleBank Foundation Fight Breast Cancer Golf Classic on Oct. 11 at the Woodmont Country Club in Rockville, Md. The annual golf tournament has raised more than $915,000 since its first date in 2005. Proceeds will be used in several D.C. and Maryland-area hospitals such at Shady Grove Adventist Hospital and The George Washington University Cancer Institute. Donald R. Rogers, a director of EagleBank and the Chairman of the EagleBank Foundation said, "We are again proud of our efforts to raise funds to help those hospitals and organizations in our community who are on the front line doing all they can to win the battle against breast cancer. Because of the tremendous generosity and support of our sponsors, players, contributors and volunteers, we are proud to provide this much-needed funding for breast cancer programs and services at these well-deserving local hospitals and organizations. Once again, it is unbelievable that we 'over-sold' this event during these still challenging economic times. This is a testament to the passion and hard work of our Committee members and everyone else involved in organizing this event. It was truly an honor working with so many wonderful, dedicated people with the same commitment and focus."
