I have another question from someone, does ketosis increase or decrease the risk of heart disease. The study that I am going to post down below is very interesting because they compared the study from rodents versus humans. I want to talk about what they found. When they put people on the ketogenic diet which is basically is more fat but the carbs are way down. Rodents increases cholesterol, increases LDL (bad cholesterol), decreases HDL (good cholesterol) and increases triglycerides. But in humans, decreases cholesterol, decreases LDL (bad cholesterol), increases HDL (good cholesterol) and increases triglycerides. This tells me that the inflammation and the problems in the artery are not an issue. Let’s talk about the pancreas, in rodents it increase insulin and in humans it decrease insulin, blood sugar and A1C because the main cause of the heart disease is high insulin and the ketogenic diet is designed to lower insulin. One little thing I am want to add is to make sure you are going to add intermittent fasting to then take it to the next level because that will also help you lower insulin even more and really make this numbers look really good. It sounds logical that adding fat to the body will increase more fat in the arteries and on the body, however, that’s not how it works. Hormones turn calories into different things. The main hormone insulin is responsible for changing carbs into clogged arteries and fat on your body. If you keep insulin low by keeping carbs low - the dietary fat will not clog the arteries nor will it end up making you fat. Insulin is very inflammatory and can also start the progressive inflammatory process of your arteries. Hey guys, dr. berg here and in this video we are going to talk about will doing a high fat ketogenic diet clog your arteries. Just from the pure observation of eating more fat and a fatty clogged artery, it sounds logical that if you were to eat fat you are going to get a clogged artery. It sounds logical that you would eat more fat and then get more fat in your body but it is not how it works in the body because in the body there is a various hormones that tell certain types of calories what to convert into and the hormone that tells the body whether to clog or clean out the artery really is called insulin. Insulin is like the switch that converts fat into the body storage and also clogs arteries. Insulin is a very inflammatory hormone if you have too much of it you could get a lot of inflammation which can set you up for a whole series of events from the body starts healing the inflammation in the arteries with a combination of the cholesterols, calcium and fibrous kind of a connective tissue to form a little bit of a clot. What started that would be the high levels of insulin, not necessarily consuming cholesterol. Cholesterol is made by almost every single cell in the body. Your body makes about 3,000mg of cholesterol every single day. 3,000mg of cholesterol is equal to 300 strips of bacon, about a pound of butter or 14 eggs. Your body makes a lot of cholesterol. When you consume more fat, your body just makes less. That’s how it works. What really creates this clogged arteries is high levels of insulin by consuming too many carbohydrates. If you were to cut your carbohydrates down, like the breads, pasta, cereal, crackers, things like that, and sugar. If you would cut that down, you would notice your cholesterol would go way down. Also your triglycerides and your bad cholesterol will go way down. If you were to increase the sugar and the insulin, your cholesterol goes up and you should even experiment yourself to see if this is true for you. But what I want to give you is I have a little mini course that is very quick and you can probably get it done in maybe 20 minutes on ketosis to give you the basics. One of the most common assumptions about the vegan lifestyle is that a strict plant-based diet will lead to easy weight loss. Lots of people become vegan for this reason alone. I get it. When I first became interested in eating "healthy" it was because I was dealing with body image issues, and wanted to 1) lose weight, and 2) not feel guilty after I ate. But this video is about more than what you should eat to lose weight––though I'll talk about that. It's about the fact that veganism isn't a diet or an quick fix, but an incredibly rewarding lifestyle. Eating a whole food vegan diet will help you achieve your optimal weight, but it will also help you be your healthiest, most vibrant self. By eating a whole food vegan diet (for me that includes 80% unprocessed wholesome foods, and 20% refined vegan items), I have been able to achieve and effortlessly maintain my natural weight/size while keeping up a very moderate exercise routine, and just staying active by walking, commuting on my bike, and practicing yoga (rarely vigorous) each day. Whatever your journey to an optimal weight, energy, and vibrancy, I believe that you can find it by adopting a vegan lifestyle. Remember, being thin doesn't mean you're healthy or happy; and being overweight does not mean you're unhealthy or unhappy. Health, happiness, and satisfaction come from your life choices, not from your plate, the scale, or the size on your clothing. Going vegan is so much more than a diet. It's a way to lower your risk of America's top killers (preventable disease!), eat amazingly delicious food, increase your energy levels, have fun in the kitchen, and MOST IMPORTANTLY save animals and walk more gently on the planet :) NOTE: This information is not intended to replace advice from a medical professional (psychologist, psychiatrist, physician, etc). So today I want to go over the 10 most effective exercises for weight loss that you could do right in your own living room. The exercises that i go over today require no equipment and the reason why theyre more effective than others is because they're going to work mulriple joints and muscle groups at the same time and theyre gonna get your heart rate and your breathing rate up way up. You can combine all of these exercises into one workout simply by using on and off intervals. The training style that I recommend for this type of workout is short intervals. 20 seconds on and then ten seconds off then repeat each exercise for 8 rounds before taking a minute break and moving on to the next. Training in a high intensity way like this will allow you to burn more calories in a shorter amount of time. Before I jump into the first one I do have to State the obvious and that's the fact that if you want to lose weight or burn fat you do have to make sure that you're keeping it clean in the kitchen as well. These arent magical exercises that was somehow counterbalance eating junk everyday. But by doing this work out a couple times a week and watching what you eat I'm sure that anyone can lose weight and body fat with these exercises. Let's start with number 1. its a combination of jumping jacks and burpees. Burpees are by far one of the most effective exercises to get your heart rate up while also working your upper and your lower body. Most people know how to do a jumping jack start standing straight up then jump your feet out and raise your arms over your head and you're going to do that 5 times. Then you would perform the burpee by bending your back and lowering yourself down to the ground. As you place your hands on the floor. Next you're going to jump your feet out and get into a push-up position lower yourself down for the push-up then hop your feet back in and jump up. If this is too advanced for you you can walk your feet out one foot at a time instead of hoping. Regardless of whether you're a beginner or advanced the sequence is five jumping jacks one Burpee 5 jumping jacks one Burpee back and forth. Next we have the mountain climber sit through drill. For this one you're going to perform 4 mountain climbers for every two sit throughs. Most people know how to do mountain climbers. These are the same mountain climbers that you've probably done in gym class. Every time that you hop one of your knees up to your chest it counts as one. So you shuffle your feet 4 times and then you do 2 sit throughs. The sit through is done by starting in a pushup postion then lifting one hand off the ground and your opposite leg off the ground. Bring your hand up to your head and kick your opposite leg through as you turn your hips and your body enough for your butt to barely tap the ground. Then return back to the pushup position and repeat for the other side. Once you're done with those 2 sit throughs go right back to mountain climbers. Next is the plyo step up. This one is not only great for your footwork, balance, and coordination, but it's also a great exercise to burn a bunch of calories. All you need is a step below knee level. You can use a low chair or even the bottom stair ledge in your house. Start with one foot on the platform, put your weight on that foot and jump up as you switch your feet. Do this back and forth repeating for the full time. I know it doesn't look like much, but like I said you will be breathing heavy after doing this one for 20 seconds straight and especially after eight rounds. If you have knee problems and can't jump up and down you can just alternate stepping up side to side. Moving on to exercise number four the spider man pushup. This one does require a lot of upper body strength so if you're a beginner just stick to regular pushups or you can also do pushups on your knees if regular pushups are too hard. The key with all of these exercises is to perform the exercise in the most intense way that you can and then regress as it gets harder. So you can start by doing a couple reps of the spiderman pushups and then when it gets too hard do regular pushups and finally when you start to fail and give out with those you can drop to your knees for a few more forced reps. But the spider man pushup is done by simply starting in a pushup position and then as you come down for a pushup bring one knee up to your elbow.
