5 Common Signs of Prostate Cancer

04:00
5 Common Signs of Prostate Cancer Prostate cancer is a silent killer. Unlike many other cancers where symptoms occur early on, making the disease easier to detect, with prostate cancer there are no early warning signs. Only once a tumor causes the prostate gland to swell, or the cancer spreads beyond the prostate, will there be signs that the disease may be present. While regular screenings are essential for the identification and treatment of prostate cancer, if it goes undetected, the following are among the most common signs of the disease. 1. Urination Issues Experiencing troubles while urinating is among the most common indicators of prostate cancer. According to the Cancer Treatment Centers of America, these difficulties can include: -Burning or pain during urination -Difficulty urinating, or trouble starting and stopping while urinating -More frequent urges to urinate at night -Loss of bladder control -Decreased flow or velocity of urinee stream -Blood in urinee (hematuria) While these issues may indicate a prostate concern, they are not symptoms of the cancer. They occur as a result of the tumor in the prostate pressing on the bladder. 2. Swelling, Numbness or Pain in the Bones or Tissues It’s possible for the cancer to spread beyond the prostate and into the bones, which can cause pain and/or stiffness in the bones in areas such as the hips, back or chest. Prostate cancer can also spread to the nearby tissues and, more seriously, the lymphatic system. This can lead to symptoms such as swelling in the legs or pelvic area, as well as weakness or numbness in the legs or feet. 3. Constipation or Loss of bowell Control As mentioned previously, someone with prostate cancer may experience weakness or numbness in the legs or feet. This is caused by the cancer having spread to the tissues of the spine and pressing on the nerves. In addition to this weakness or paralysis of the lower limbs, a person may also experience digestive issues. This can either present itself as constipation, or a loss of bowell control. 4. Shortness of Breath It’s possible for someone with prostate cancer, typically in an advanced stage, to develop a conditional called anemia. Anemia is characterized as a drop in red blood cells, which results in there not being sufficient oxygen in the blood to meet the body’s needs. According to Prostate Cancer UK, symptoms of anemia can include “feeling tired or weak, being out of breath and looking pale.” Shortness of breath isn’t always due to anemia, however. It may also occur, along with chest pain, if the cancer spreads into a person’s lungs. 5. Loss of Weight, Fatigue and High Blood Pressure Although these symptoms are far more rare, it’s possible for prostate cancer to cause something called paraneoplastic syndrome. This is a group of symptoms that includes high blood pressure, fatigue and weight loss, as well as muscle cramps, illness and changes in the blood. According to the Canadian Cancer Society, paraneoplastic syndrome occurs “when substances released by cancer cells disrupt the normal function of nearby or distant organs or tissues.” Help us to be better SUBSCRIBE for more videos here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCXdJqh4rOHguFcgwLlatjLw?sub_confirmation=1 More from Health Area: -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WG2mJutazsE -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RH6rdRQ9Ibc -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3UtSQrsbnpQ 5 Common Signs of Prostate Cancer By HEALTH AREA

Teenage Ballerina Uses Ankle As Knee Joint

SUBSCRIBE to the Barcroft network: http://bit.ly/Oc61Hj AN AMPUTEE schoolgirl who lost a leg to cancer has defied the odds to become a competitive dancer. When ballerina Gabi Shull had her leg amputated she feared she would never dance again. But thanks to groundbreaking ‘rotationplasty’ surgery, the 14-year-old bone cancer survivor has been able to get back on her toes. Gabi was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in March 2011, when she was just nine-years-old. Her diseased knee was removed and her foot was rotated 180 degrees and reattached to her upper leg – with her ankle serving as her knee. Gabi was fitted with a prosthetic lower leg and took her first steps a year later. Now Gabi, from Missouri, America, can bend and flex her prosthesis by moving her foot and is now encouraging others to ‘live their dreams’ and ‘never give up’. Man with a rare form of cancer is back on his feet after having his HEEL replaced with a titanium

01:19
Man with a rare form of cancer is back on his feet after having his HEEL replaced with a titanium replica made on a 3D printer www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2801261/man-rare-form-cancer-feet-having-heel-replaced-titanium-replica-3d-printer.html ~ Builder Len Chandler feared that he was going to lose his foot after doctors told him that he had a hole in his heel. The 71 year old, from Rutherglen, Victoria had a rare form of cancer in the calcaneus, which had eaten through the heel of his foot and caused him difficulty walking. Thankfully for Len, it hadn't spread any further. 'It'd been annoying for about 6, 7 years,' he said. 'I went to so many different specialists, physiotherapists, podiatrists and acupuncturists and I was just about to give up.' Finally, after an x-ray at a local hospital he was referred to St Vincent's Hospital surgeon Professor Peter Choong in Melbourne, who was at the time developing techniques with 3D printing. Dr Choong offered him the chance to save his foot from being amputated as most people with this type of cancer often lose the leg below the knee because it is difficult to replace the heel bone. 'I was prepared to lose it but this fantastic machine offered me the chance to save it,' he said. He then underwent a pioneering procedure using a titanium heel made in a 3D printer, what's believed to be a world first of it's kind. 'I never knew the operation would be this successful or this important,' says Mr Chandler. 'I thought it might be the first time this had been done in Victoria.'

Kidney Pain Symptoms - Signs Of Kidney Stones, Kidney Infection, Renal Failure

04:07
For more information on kidney pain symptoms, visit http://stayhealthyvideos.com/kidneydisease. It was an invaluable resource in writing the script for this video. Kidney pain is one of the common symptoms for the most common kidney problems. Pain could be mild or extremely severe. Kidney pain could also be symptomatic of other health problems like high blood pressure (hypertension) or diabetes. Both of these conditions cause damage to kidney tissue, causing pain in the lower back or "flank" areas on either side of the back. More often, kidney back pain is a sign of a kidney stone, a kidney infection, kidney cancer, kidney damage or polycystic kidney disease. In the worst case, it could be a sign of kidney failure, which is a life threatening medical emergency requiring medical intervention and care. Sometimes, what people think is a back ache turns out to be a "kidney ache." I had chronic discomfort on my lower left side as early as 7th grade - around age 12. No one at that time suspected my pain was a symptom of a kidney stone, but years later I learned that it probably was. I had to be taken to an emergency room with severe back pain at age 22. Two days later, I had a kidney stone surgically removed. I've had about a dozen kidney stones in my lifetime, and I've been hospitalized twice. I know what kidney stone pain feels like, and it feels exactly like that ache in felt in the left flank area when I was just 12 years old. I've produced this video on kidney pain symptoms in the hope that I'll help people who don't know if they have kidney pain or back pain. Renal problems ("renal" is the medical term for anything related to the kidneys) can be very confusing to those who are experiencing them for the first time. If you have a history of kidney problems in your family, there's a good chance, and you're feeling some discomfort in the area of the lower back toward the flanks, you may very well have kidney trouble of some kind. I've made a number of other videos on topic related to health and well being. Please visit http://stayhealthyvideos.com to view them.

10 Warning Body Signs You Shouldn't Ignore

10:18
How to Stay Healthy. Your body has a way of telling you when it’s happy, when it’s sad, or when it desperately needs your attention. And there are certain signs you can’t ignore that, if it’s giving them to you, mean you’d better see a doctor right away. Follow these simple tips to stay healthy and avoid serious diseases. TIMESTAMPS Why pink feet are dangerous 0:36 Why do hugs feel uncomfortable 1:14 What thinning eyebrows say about your health 2:08 What health problems do swollen toes indicate 2:53 Why did you lose appetite 3:49 Is itchy skin a serious issue 4:48 Why do you hate being inside 6:02 What happens to your body if you hate open windows 6:57 What sudden onset of kleptomania really means 7:36 What can your nails tell about your health 8:45 Bonus trivia 9:32 Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music SUMMARY -Discolored and distressed feet can indicate a metabolic problem, such as diabetes. An endocrinologist will check your blood sugar and hormone levels. -If hugs feel unpleasantly too tight, it might be a sign of a disease called multiple sclerosis (or MS). If you have unpleasant sensations in your arms and legs, like you’re wearing invisible gloves or shoes, that can be a warning sign too. -If you notice your eyebrows becoming naturally thinner without any help from your tweezers, you should see a doctor. This may be one of the symptoms of hypothyroidism, a condition that can lead to feelings of tiredness, constipation, depression, and weight gain. -If you have fat or swollen toes, or if your toes look like sausages, talk to a dermatologist and/or a rheumatologist. This symptom might signal psoriatic arthritis, which can result in damaged skin and pain. -If you experience a sudden loss of appetite and notice that you’re also losing weight, it may be a symptom of a metabolic disorder. This may be genetic or the result of not getting proper nutrition over an extended period. -Itchy spots are often caused by insect bites or mild allergic reactions to a new lotion or a low-quality fabric. If none of these possibilities explain the itch, however, ask your doctor for an examination. -If you’re one of those people who always asks to open the windows in public transportation, you have trouble breathing indoors, or you feel claustrophobic at work without a window open, you should have your heart tested to exclude the risk of cardiac failure. -If you can’t stand open windows or you’re cold even in the summer, you should get your thyroid checked. Your body might lack iodine, and this deficiency may lead to hypothyroidism. -A sudden ignorance of the law and the wish to steal something small, even if you can easily pay for it, may be the first sign of dementia. -If you notice your nails changing shape, such as becoming thicker and wider, this may indicate that you have lung or heart problems. When it comes to taste changes, if food doesn’t taste good, it’s very hard for it be desirable to eat. One of the ways to help make food taste better is to think about some different flavors. Often times tart, or more sour flavors, things like a pomegranate, ginger, lemon, apples—those can help manage some of that off, or undetectable taste. Now, if you’re experiencing mouth sores, tart flavors can sometimes burn, so you would want to consider something a little more soothing. Think of the texture and flavor, say, of a baked sweet potato. When it comes to a lot of symptoms that I described, there are some overarching, or common, themes that can really help to manage all of these symptoms. For example: To stay well hydrated. If water doesn’t taste good, consider flavoring your water naturally. Not only will you stay hydrated, you’ll get a boost in immune-supporting phytonutrients. One great tip for nausea is to make a tea using ginger and lemons. Ginger and lemon have both been shown in research to have some anti-nausea properties, and they’re in that flavor profile, which can be really, really helpful. In addition to that, having small, frequent meals and drinking your fluids in smaller amounts throughout the day can really make a big difference. Oftentimes, seeing a large plate of food will really decrease a person’s appetite during chemotherapy. So using a smaller plate, making things colorful and light, can really make a big, big difference. When it comes to eating throughout the day, including a healthy source of protein is also a good way to help stave off nausea, and also to reduce some fatigue. When we think about keeping our bowels healthy, eating that plant-based diet, rich in fruits and vegetables, can really make a big difference, when it comes to constipation. If you’re experiencing diarrhea, some fruits and vegetables may be harder to digest. There are many ways to go about helping this, while still staying on your healthy diet. That would include sometimes making a smoothie, or fresh juice. I lost a friend Somewhere along in the bitterness And I would have stayed up with you all night Had I known how to save a life Let him know that you know best Cause after all, you do know best Try to slip past his defense Without granting innocence Lay down a list of what is wrong The things you've told him all along And pray to God he hears you And I pray to God he hears you Where did I go wrong? I lost a friend Somewhere along in the bitterness And I would have stayed up with you all night Had I known how to save a life As he begins to raise his voice You lower yours and grant him one last choice Drive until you lose the road Or break with the ones you've followed He will do one of two things He will admit to everything Or he'll say he's just not the same And you'll begin to wonder why you came Where did I go wrong? I lost a friend Somewhere along in the bitterness And I would have stayed up with you all night Had I known how to save a life Where did I go wrong? 5 Common Signs of Prostate Cancer

03:55
According to the Canadian Cancer Society, paraneoplastic syndrome occurs “when substances released by cancer cells disrupt the normal function of nearby or distant organs or tissues.” Help us to be better Like, Comment, Subscribe and invite all your friends to see our videos: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCUOF1_1_fY50PVN0TtItbDQ?sub_confirmation=1 More from Stay Healthy: 1. This Drink Will Help You To Eliminate The Knee And Joint Pain In Just 5 Days

03:11
Many people experience joint pain in their knees, elbows and hands. Many people relate this to aging. Because of this, they believe it to be a normal pain and do not seek treatment for it. However, when the body is in pain, it experiences stress. Also, untreated knee pain can cause damage to the knees and cause shifting of the knee. Knee pain can be caused by excessive use, bone density, as well as wear and tear of the muscles and tissues. Vitamin deficiency is also a known cause of knee pain. Particularly, if the body lacks calcium, vitamin D and iron. Someone who lacks vitamin D and calcium is at risk for arthritis and inflammation of the joints. Many people also do not realize that this pain can be treated with a natural remedy which will leave them pain-free in just a matter of a few days. Today’s video will discuss how to prevent joint and knee pain, as well as how to relieve it. If someone experiences knee pain for over a week, there may be a more serious problem than just overuse and they should seek medical attention. It is also very important to eat a diet that is high in vitamins, bromelain and magnesium. A smoothie made from cinnamon, pineapple and orange juice is one natural remedy that is highly effective in treating and relieving knee and joint pain. This smoothie has anti-inflammatory properties, as well as silicon, bromelain, vitamin C and magnesium. Vitamin C is found in pineapple and is especially important to the body’s bones. Pineapple also contains a high amount of bromelain, which is an anti-inflammatory. Cinnamon helps the body’s blood to circulate more effectively. Orange juice also contains vitamin C that can help make ligaments and tendons strong. To make the smoothie, you will need: 2 small cups of diced pineapple; 1 cup of rolled oats; 2 cups of water; 1 glass of orange juice; 1 cinnamon stick; Raw, natural honey; Directions: Add water and oatmeal into a pot and allow to cook for a few minutes. After the oatmeal is cooked well, allow it to cool down. Place orange juice, oats, cinnamon, pineapple, and honey into a blender. Mix all ingredients together and add water to make the smoothie thinner, if desired. For best results, it is recommended to drink this smoothie on a daily basis. After five consistent days of consuming this drink, total relief from knee and joint pain should be experienced. Will Lung Cancer Treatment Affect Other Organs?

02:59
Dr. Hanson explains that chemotherapy treatment for lung cancer can often affect other organs, such as the blood organ, bone marrow, and nerves. Patients that undergo treatment through radiation can also expect that organs hit by the radiation could suffer damage. David S. Hanson, MD, FACP: Oftentimes patients under treatment for lung cancer are concerned about the effects their therapy may have on their body and this is entirely appropriate. Patients who receive chemotherapy for lung cancer can expect that there may damage done to other organs. The most common is the blood organ or the bone marrow and that is because the chemotherapy arrest the growth of those cells, which may cause anemia, which is a low grade blood count and can cause weakness and fatigue or low white cell counts, which can predispose a person to infection or low platelet counts, which may predispose to bleeding. For that reason, during the course of treatment, your doctor will be monitoring your blood counts and likely adjusting your chemotherapy should there be major abnormalities that develop. There are other organs that are also at risk for damage during lung cancer treatment. The most common concern are the nerves. The common chemotherapy that works very well for lung cancer can cause numbness and tingling to come in the hands and feet, that this does not occur for all patients but you and your physician will be monitoring carefully for this and probably make adjustments in your treatment should such damage occur. Many times, if that damage is detected early it can be reversed. There are other organs that are at risk for damage from chemotherapy, which include the liver and the kidneys. The doctor will obtain blood test generally to determine whether or not these organs are functioning normally and if they are not, make adjustments in your treatment. The important thing to know is that you and your doctor will be working as a team to look at the side effects of your treatment and make plans about modifying your treatment to respect those side effects that develop. Finally, there are times when patients must have radiation treatment as a part of their lung cancer treatment plan and radiation can do damage to the organs at which it is end. For that reason your radiation oncologist will make a very careful treatment plan, talk with you about what tissues might be at risk for damage and list out for you those things that you and he or she can do to manage those side effects. Commonly, there may be a skin burn that is apparent on the skin and the area that is given radiation. Proper treatment of the skin can control the symptoms from that irritation and make it far less of a difficult thing to manage than if its not attended too properly. David S. Hanson, MD practices oncology and internal medicine in Baton Rouge and Zachary, Louisiana. Dr. Hanson graduated with an MD 27 years ago.

Understanding chemotherapy-related nerve pain | Dr Marta Seretny

10:05
In this short talk, Dr Marta Seretny presents the preliminary results of a study seeking to identify which cancer chemotherapy patients will go on to develop the side-effect of peripheral nerve pain. Around 2 in 3 chemotherapy patients develop peripheral nerve pain, or neuropathy. 3 in 10 patients who survive their cancer continue to suffer from this chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy, or CIPN, after the treatment has ended. 70,000+ new cases of CIPN are diagnosed every year. CIPN can cause patients to require a lower treatment dose during chemotherapy, or even force them to stop treatment altogether. Dr Seretny's work is the first study looking at the brain's influence on CIPN, despite the brain being central to perception of pain in the outer body. She used fMRI imaging to look at the brains of 30 patients before, during and after chemotherapy. By identifying areas of activity in the brain that correlate with increased risk of developing CIPN, Dr Seretny hopes to use these biomarkers to contribute to the development of personalised chemotherapy. Dr Marta Seretny is an anaesthetic registrar in the South East Scotland School of Anaesthesia, Edinburgh, and a Wellcome Trust Clinical Academic PhD Fellow with the Scottish Translational Medicine and Therapeutics Initiative. Elaine Fuchs (Rockefeller, HHMI) 3: Cancer: Hijacking the Wound Repair Mechanisms Used by Stem Cells

22:39
https://www.ibiology.org/development-and-stem-cells/skin-stem-cells/#part-3 Skin stem cells have great potential for the treatment of burns and corneal injuries. As Elaine Fuchs explains, understanding skin stem cell biology is also key to understanding cancers such as squamous cell carcinoma. Talk Overview: Dr. Fuchs begins her talk with a brief history of stem cells including the discovery in the 1970s that adult skin stem cells could be cultured in vitro indefinitely. This early work provided the foundation for later advances in embryonic stem cell (ESC) culture. ESCs are special because they can generate all the different tissues of the body, thus providing great potential for use in regenerative medicine. The use of ESCs is controversial, however, so scientists have developed ways of generating pluripotent stem cells that do not use embryonic tissue. Fuchs reviews methods such as nuclear transfer and the generation of induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) by reprogramming adult somatic cells. Cells generated by these methods may be used for drug and therapy screening and they may provide treatments for human diseases such as macular degeneration, Parkinson’s and other degenerative diseases. In her second talk, Fuchs focuses primarily on studies of adult skin stem cells. Adult stem cells have the ability to make more stem cells and to generate the cells of a differentiated tissue. Skin stem cells can replenish the epidermis and make hair follicle cells. Skin grown in culture from just a few skin stem cells can be used to treat burn patients or replace damaged corneal epithelium. Stem cells reside in specific niches or microenvironments and signals from the niche determine whether a stem cell is going to be quiescent or make tissue. Fuchs’ lab has studied hair follicle stem cells for many years and has identified the signals that activate hair follicle stem cells as well as the specific set of transcription factors that are upregulated in the activated stem cells. They have shown that many of the genes turned on during stem cell activation are regulated by super enhancers which sense the niche environment. Squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs) are commonly occurring, dangerous cancers that may originate from skin stem cells. By developing methods to identify the stem cells that will lead to cancer, Fuchs’ lab has been able to study how these cells differ from normal skin stem cells. They found that the gene expression profile in normal versus cancer stem cells is very different and is likely the result of differences in the cancer stem cell niche. The tumor microenvironment may include immune cells and greater proximity to TGF-beta secreting blood vessels. Fuchs’ lab showed that cancer stem cells exposed to TGF-beta had increased expression of proteins in the glutathione metabolism pathway; the same pathway which is involved in the breakdown of chemotherapy drugs. Further studies in SCC patients, showed a strong correlation between increased mRNA levels for glutathione pathway proteins and decreased survival. These results suggest that drugs which block TGF-beta activity, in combination with other chemotherapeutics, may be an effective therapy for some SCC. Speaker Biography: Elaine Fuchs is the Rebecca C. Lancefield Professor of Mammalian Cell Biology and Development at The Rockefeller University and an Investigator of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute. Her lab studies the role of skin stem cells in homeostasis and wound repair and how these processes go awry in cancer and inflammatory diseases. Fuchs received her BS in chemistry from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana and her PhD in biochemistry from Princeton. She developed her interest in skin biology as a post-doctoral fellow with Howard Green at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Before joining Rockefeller University in 2002, Fuchs was a faculty member at the University of Chicago for twenty years. Fuchs’ many contributions to skin and stem cell biology have been recognized with myriad awards and honors including the National Medal of Science in 2008, the March of Dimes Prize in 2012, and the E.B. Wilson Prize from the American Society of Cell Biology in 2015, to name a few. She is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Medicine. How Likely Are You to Get Skin Cancer?

03:18
According to the American Academy of Dermatology, skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the United States, with an estimated 95-hundred Americans diagnosed every day. Though much depends on skin type, too much exposure to harmful UV rays puts people of all skin types at risk of skin cancer. Here’s the truth about tanning and cumulative exposure to the sun.

🚨🚨Hi everyone I honestly in my heart don't feel right writing a sad story about how my son is sick and he's in dire need of meeting his favorite singer nothing will fix my sons situation or change any pain that we carry. What I'm asking is if you all can just take a second to help a WISH COME TRUE and please share H's video. 🚨🚨 H my 14 yr old is battling osteosarcoma (bone cancer). Many children look towards comedy or music on their darkest days. Lady Gaga was H's go to person when he needed to lift his spirits. I have heard all of her songs on the rides to and from the hospital as he danced in my front seat. H doesn't ask for to much and now with things taking a turn I know meeting his favorite singer would mean everything to him.. I'm asking you all to help me make his dream come true. Please share and tag Lady Gaga. Thank you all — FB staystrongh

What Will Happen to Your Body If You Walk Every Day

10:09
Walking is a totally free, easy exercise that requires little effort, and benefits not only your physical but also your mental well-being. If you’re looking for a simple yet very effective way of losing weight and improving your overall health, walking is something just for you. People who are physically active throughout their life are much less prone to this disease than those who have a more sedentary lifestyle. And that’s because they have more volume in their hippocampus, the part of the brain responsible for verbal memory and learning. A daily half-hour walk helps avoid serious problems, like coronary heart disease to name one, by lowering high blood pressure and cholesterol levels and improving blood circulation. Because of better-quality and deeper breathing, some symptoms associated with lung disease can show significant improvement thanks to walking. Muscle tone and weight loss is also totally achievable through simple walking. Find your optimal pace, but don’t break out into a jog. This sort of speed walking is low impact and doesn’t require any recovery time, which means no sore muscles to keep you from getting out and walking the next day. The Arthritis Foundation recommends at least 30 minutes of moderate walking a day to reduce pain, stiffness, and inflammation in the joints. Building strong bones will help you prevent osteoporosis and reduce bone loss. Walking contributes to better blood circulation within the spinal structures, pumping important nutrients into the soft tissues and improving posture and flexibility, both of which are vital for a healthy spine. A group of researchers at Iowa State University worked with hundreds of college students. Walking changed their mood for the better, even though no one warned them it could do so. If you still don’t feel motivated enough to start walking for your health, try joining a class or find a buddy who also wouldn’t mind getting all the benefits of walking. Another idea could be to hire a personal trainer.
