What Breast Cancer Organizations Won't Tell You

Is abortion associated with breast cancer risk? The documentary HUSH investigates the controversy. We know reproductive history and Breast Cancer are tied closely together - but do health organizations communicate this fact clearly to women? Or is it too political to mention? We know a young pregnant woman has two options: have the child, or abort. If she has the child, she will have less breast cancer risk than before she got pregnant, if she aborts and has a child at a later date or not at all, she will have greater breast cancer risk than if she had the child. There is no controversy around this statement. It's a known fact. The only controversy to the ABC link is whether or not that woman who aborts will have more breast cancer risk than she did prior to getting pregnant, and this needs some deep discussion into the studies, known biology, and politics around the subject. Make Sure You Subscribe! http://bit.ly/1wyU0zw October is breast cancer awareness month and it leads to a great discussion topic regarding cancer and all these organizations that claim to be raising money for a good cause. It seems after doing some research that much of the money being raised is going to other things besides cancer research. That is very upsetting to me! I believe that instead of giving our money to these corrupt organizations we support smaller non profits that are educating people on how to prevent cancer. There are so many things we can do on a daily basis to stop cancer before it has even begun. Lets raise awareness regarding what a natural, whole foods diet can do in preventing disease. Avoiding toxins in our food, our household, and the medications we take are all ways we can help prevent cancer, especially cancers that affect just women. Invasive Breast Cancer: We Teach You The Essentials

We teach you how invasive breast cancer can threaten your life and guide you to the key information you need to know to get the best possible treatment. VISIT THE BREAST CANCER SCHOOL FOR PATIENTS: http://www.breastcancercourse.org LIST OF QUESTIONS FOR YOUR DOCTORS: http://www.breastcancercourse.org/breast-health-updates-latest-videos/ FOLLOW US: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Breast-Cancer-School-for-Patients-958519147618444/ ________________________________ Questions for your Breast Cancer Specialists: 1. What is invasive breast cancer? 2. What type of breast cancer do I have? 3. What is the chance I will die of my breast cancer? 4. What are my receptor results? 5. May I have a copy of my pathology report? 6. Do I qualify for genetic testing? 7. What is invasive breast cancer? Invasive breast cancer is defined by breast cells that grow abnormally fast and have developed the ability to spread beyond the breast to other parts of the body. It can take years for breast cells to slowly develop the genetic changes (mutations) to change from a normal cell to an invasive cancer cell. But once they do, some spread more rapidly and others grow very slowly and may not spread at all beyond the breast. Invasive breast cancer can threaten your life. “Non-invasive” breast cancer are cells that also grow abnormally fast, but cannot yet spread beyond the breast to threaten someone’s life. Ductal Carcinoma In-Situ (DCIS) is an example of non-invasive breast cancer and is generally categorized under “breast cancer” by most organizations. It is covered in our “Non-invasive DCIS” lesson and is more of a “pre-cancerous” condition. Important facts if you have an Invasive Breast Cancer: Treatments can cure 90% of all women with breast cancer The majority of all patients are diagnosed at an early stage Surgery, hormonal therapy, chemotherapy, and radiation are treatment options You have time before choosing a treatment pathway You may qualify for genetic testing Types of invasive breast cancer: Infiltrating Ductal Carcinoma is the most common (70%) type of invasive breast cancer. It is called “ductal” because the cancer cells originate from the cells lining the milk ducts. There are many other factors beyond “type” of cancer that are important. Infiltrating Lobular Carcinoma occurs in less than 20% of patients. It is called “lobular” because the cells originate from the “lobules” of the milk ducts. Lobular cancers are no worse or better than invasive ductal cancers from a survival perspective. There are some unique features of lobular cancers that can affect diagnosis and treatment. Ask you physician how an invasive lobular carcinoma is different from an invasive ductal carcinoma. Other types: Inflammatory Breast Cancer (5%) is a very aggressive cancer. Colloid and Mucinous (3%) are considered less aggressive breast cancers and carry a lower risk to one’s health. There are other less common types of invasive breast cancer that we have not covered. What is the chance I will die of my cancer? Most women just diagnosed with breast cancer have no idea how much of a risk to their life their unique situation poses. Any invasive breast cancer does impart some level of risk to your life. However, this risk is usually less than you would assume. Why are “receptors” important? Receptors are tiny proteins on the surface of the cells that act like “light switches” that can turn on and off cancer cell growth. The Estrogen receptor (ER), Progesterone receptor (PR) and HER2 receptor results are incredibly important for you to know and understand. Take our lesson on “My Tumor Receptors” to learn the essentials. How do you treat invasive breast cancer? The most common first treatment for early stage invasive breast cancer is surgery, possibly followed by chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and then hormonal therapy. Breast cancer treatment is incredibly complex and there can be many different approaches to the same type of breast cancer. There are some situations that are better treated by “neoadjuvant chemotherapy” as a first treatment rather than surgery. The Breast Cancer School for Patients was created to help you to make the best treatment decisions with your breast specialists in your community. You may qualify for genetic testing Invasive breast cancer is known to be associated with the BRCA gene mutation. The BRCA (Breast Cancer) gene is commonly referred to as “The Breast Cancer Gene.” If someone inherits a broken version (mutation) of this gene at conception, they carry a very high lifetime risk of breast cancer and ovarian cancer. Most breast cancers are not the result of the BRCA mutation. In fact, it is estimated that the BRCA and similar genetic mutations cause only 10 to 15% of all breast cancers. It is important to ask your physicians if you meet the guidelines for genetic counseling and testing. Take our “BRCA Genetic Testing” lesson to learn more.

What does “Breast Cancer” mean? Invasive breast cancer is defined by breast cells that grow abnormally fast and may develop the ability to spread beyond the breast to other parts of the body. It can take years for breast cells to slowly develop the genetic changes (mutations) to change from a normal cell to an invasive cancer cell. Invasive breast cancer can threaten your life. About one in ten women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. One in one thousand men will develop male breast cancer. There are many “risk factors” that increase the chance someone will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Some of these “high risk” factors include inherited genetic factors, dense breasts, never having children, or a strong family history of breast cancer. How is breast cancer treated? The most common first treatment for early stage breast cancer is surgery, possibly followed by chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and then hormonal therapy. Breast cancer treatment is incredibly complex and there can be many different approaches to the same type of breast cancer. Two hours a week of regular exercise has been shown to significantly reduce the lifetime risk of developing breast cancer. Other risk reduction activities include avoiding obesity, breastfeeding your children, and limiting alcohol or tobacco use. When should I start getting screening mammograms? Beginning annual screening mammography at 40 years old is likely the safest approach. Over the past few years, multiple organizations are slowly revising their mammography screening guidelines to start at 45 or 50 years of age. But this is an ongoing debate that will take years for the medical community and patient advocacy organizations to come to a consensus as to the correct age to start screening and how frequently to get mammograms. Treatment Timeline for Breast Cancer: The Steps Ahead

08:02
We teach you about the steps needed to diagnose and effectively treat your breast cancer. Know what comes next in your breast cancer journey. VISIT THE BREAST CANCER SCHOOL FOR PATIENTS: http://www.breastcancercourse.org LIST OF QUESTIONS FOR YOUR DOCTORS: http://www.breastcancercourse.org/breast-health-updates-latest-videos/ FOLLOW US: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/Breast-Cancer-School-for-Patients-958519147618444/ __________________________________________ You have plenty of time to make decisions Making good decisions is the most difficult part of having breast cancer. You will feel pressed for time to learn everything and start your treatment as soon as possible. Time is usually on your side. You must work with your team to learn everything about your cancer and treatment options. We created the Breast Cancer School for Patients to quickly teach you to be your own expert in breast cancer. You will make better decisions once you become your own “expert” and best advocate. A few facts about time to treatment: The average time from the date of cancer diagnosis to the day of lumpectomy surgery is about 32 days. The average time to mastectomy surgery is about 40 days. It can take anywhere from 3 to 12 months from cancer diagnosis to complete your final treatments, and up to ten years if you need hormonal therapy. It is a marathon. Conserve your emotional and physical efforts for the challenges ahead. Finding your breast cancer (1 – 3 weeks) Most small breast cancers are found on screening mammography and possibly by ultrasound or maybe a breast MRI. You may have detected your own breast lump and sought further help from your physician. The time to schedule a mammogram, have it performed, return for further breast imaging and then get the results can take days to weeks. Always ask to have your tests and appointments scheduled as soon as possible. Getting a diagnosis: biopsy & results (2 – 14 days) Getting scheduled to have an image-guided breast biopsy by a breast surgeon or radiologist can vary. Most NAPBC accredited Breast Centers work quickly to schedule biopsies for those who might have a breast cancer. Our “Minimally Invasive Breast Biopsy“ lesson (here) outlines why needle biopsies are the standard of care. Make sure to ask (demand) that the physician who does your biopsy personally calls you with the results within a day or two. Call for your biopsy pathology results if you think there is a delay. My pathology report: (3 – 14 days) Ask for a copy of your initial biopsy report that will be available in 2-3 days. Ask for a copy of your final pathology report with your receptor results. Our courses on “My Pathology Report” and “My Receptors” offer more details. Surgery or chemotherapy first? Surgery is usually the first treatment for early stage breast cancer. Most patients will not need chemotherapy. If you have Estrogen receptor negative (ER-) or a “HER2-Positive“ tumor, then you will likely need chemotherapy either before or after surgery. There are distinct benefits to “Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy” before surgery. Take our video lessons linked to these topics. Is radiation needed? (4 – 6 weeks) Most patients that have a lumpectomy will need radiation. Whole breast radiation is the most common type and takes 4 to 6 weeks. Only a few patients that have a mastectomy will also need radiation. Patient-Friendly References: NCCN Guidelines for Patients www.nccn.org You will find well-organized guides (here) on breast cancer treatment by stage. Follow the prompts to breast cancer and then “stage” in the dropdown menus. The National Comprehensive Cancer Network is a consortium of organizations and governmental agencies to promote quality

Their status as a non-profit isn’t solely based on the intricacies of our tax system, but the result of the positive work they do in American communities and around the world. However, some organizations have used their status as a non-profit to procure not only favorable tax standing but to also secure massive profits for executives and board members of the organization. Now in its ninth year, the conference, which attracts more than 500 participants, including nationally recognized medical experts, has been held in metropolitan cities such as Houston, Atlanta, Detroit, Richmond Virginia, and now Chicago. Among the organizations trademark and successful national community outreach programs are "The Gift for Life Block Walk®," "The Pink Ribbon Awareness Project," STOP THE SILENCE®: Changing the Face of Breast Health Intervention. These initiatives are implemented through Sisters' affiliate chapters and are generously underwritten through federal funding, corporate partnerships and private contributions. Sisters' national branding campaign, "STOP THE SILENCE®," speaks directly to the nations, African American communities, long-standing history of not discussing cancer and other life-threatening health concerns. The national slogan has been used in Billboard and bumper sticker campaigns. This level of keen understanding of the African-American community mindset continues to allow the organization to effectively educate and heighten breast health awareness and survivorship in the African American community.

Avon Malaysia Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer Charity Walk 2012.VOB

06:01
Thousands Flood Putrajaya In 'Pink' Charity Unity KISS GOODBYE TO BREAST CANCER CHARITY WALK BY AVON In conjunction with the global celebration of Avon's 20th Breast Cancer Crusade anniversary, Avon Malaysia proudly joins more than 58 countries in hosting its second Avon Walk Around the World for Breast Cancer event. The event, locally themed Kiss Goodbye to Breast Cancer, was held at Malaysia's famous federal administrative centre and tourist attraction, Putrajaya. Roads became a sea of pink as thousands flooded Presint 2 & 3 in creative pink t-shirts and costumes in support of the fight against breast cancer. The event began with a Zumba dance warm up, followed by the official flag off by YB Senator Datuk Heng Seai Kee, Deputy Minister of Women, Family & Community Development, accompanied by Carolyn Nur Amira Lee, Avon Malaysia's Managing Director. Walkers enjoyed a fun walking experience throughout the 5km journey where they were entertained and cheered by an eclectic mix of groups, including the Aswara Percussion Essemble, a 'stress free zone' where walkers participated in stress free activities, "1 Malaysia" cheer stations, BSE (breast self examination) human statues, creative cheer stations by Avon staffs, and Ukelele players among others. Kids were thrilled as they walked the stretch with Spiderman, Superman, Cat Woman and other superheroes. Apart from joining in the activities, many took the chance to record their memorable walk with local idols and Avon celebrities. These celebrities include Avon ambassadors Scha Alyahya, Noor Neelofa and Soo Wincci; together with other supportive celebs, namely Linda Jasmine, Que Haidar, DJ Jeff, Leslie Chai, Alan Yun, Dato' Fazley, Harimau Malaya striker; Safee Sali and many more. The first 200 walkers who completed the walk then formed a human pink ribbon as a symbolic gesture to celebrate the upcoming Pink Ribbon October month. Madam Siow Fei Fong, 41; a breast cancer survivor and mother of 3 young kids, took to the stage in sharing her experiences, followed by the presentation of donation cheques amounting to RM50,000 from Avon to Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA) and Pink Ribbon Wellness Foundation. However, the main buzz after the walk came from a session of flash mob dance organized by Avon headquarters staff that was impromptu joined by walkers, and a "Go Bald" session, courtesy of professional hairdressers Michael & Guys Hair Salon and Academy, where Ms Callie Goh, Chief Creative Director of Michael & Guys Hair Salon and Academy personally conducted the "Go Bald" shaving session. The event ended with a high when more than 10 brave men walked the stage and shaved it all in hopes to seek support from the public to understand how breast cancer patients feel when they lose their hair during treatment. The walk is currently being considered for endorsement by the Malaysia Book of Records for the Largest Participation Breast Cancer Charity Walk in Malaysia. Since the launch of Avon Breast Cancer Crusade in 1992, Avon's breast cancer programs in 58 countries have donated more than USD740 million for research and advancing access to care, regardless of a person's ability to pay. Avon awards funding to beneficiaries around the world; ranging from leading cancer centers to community-based non-profit breast health programs; creating a powerful international network of research, medical, social service and community-based organizations focused on defeating breast cancer and ensuring access to care. The Crusade has enabled more than 17 million women globally to receive free mammograms and breast cancer screenings, educated more than 100 million women about breast cancer and funded promising research into the causes of breast cancer and ways to prevent the disease. The event was made possible with the partnership of Ministry of Women, Family & Social Development, Putrajaya Perbadanan, Lembaga Penduduk & Pembangunan Keluarga Negara (LPPKN), Kleenex, Kotex, Nestle, Milo, 100 Plus, Pizza Hut, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Ayam Mas, Percetakan Lai, Amerlink Sdn. Bhd. Amazing Era Sdn. Bhd., Michael & Guys Hair Salon and Academy and Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall. Nett proceeds will go to Breast Cancer Welfare Association (BCWA) and Pink Ribbon Wellness Foundation.

Tattoos Help Breast Cancer Survivors Reclaim Their Lives After Mastectomy

02:53
Please note: this video has emotional and graphic content. While our intention is to tell a beautiful story, the content - showing mastectomy scars and reconstructed breasts - can make some uncomfortable. For some breast cancer survivors, losing their breasts was the only option. For a woman, that is a devastating loss. One tattoo artist is on a mission to help them turn their grief into confidence and hope through beautiful tattoos. P.ink was founded with a simple mission, to provide another option for women who had lost their breasts to breast cancer. Noel Franus founded the organization after his sister in law suffered from the disease and asked a tattoo artist to help her afterwards, instead of a plastic surgeon. P.ink was created to supply women who had mastectomy’s with other options by covering their chest with beautiful art. They are to serve as reminders that they are survivors, warriors and to never give up. Now, after bringing 50+ mastectomy tattoos to life, the organization continues to expand across North America for survivors everywhere. They currently work with a small network of 10 pre-screened artists across North America. Through donations survivors can book time with the artists to transform their wounds into warrior marks! Documentary Producer Challenges Health Organizations

03:21
We are issuing a challenge to health organizations everywhere to respond to the women's health information uncovered in the documentary HUSH that directly opposes statements that they have made publicly. Go to www.hushfilm.com to watch. "HUSH is a documentary that uncovers an array of important women’s health information that has been either hidden by fears of political correctness, or completely covered up by political agenda. Until now. Let me give you an example; did you know that having a child, and especially having a child under 20 years old is significantly more protective against breast cancer for women compared to having a child over 30, or not having a child at all? No doctor or scientist anywhere will argue this with you. It’s true, it’s established. But most of them won’t communicate this information with you. Why? Because they don’t want to ‘tell women what to do’. They’re scared of stepping on the toes of feminist progress. Makes sense. But shouldn’t women at least know this information so they can make informed choices for their life? Shouldn’t we all know this? This is just one of the things that HUSH looks at, but the same thing applies in the connections that HUSH reveals between abortion and an increased risk of breast cancer, an increased risk of future premature birth, and psychological problems for some groups of women. To many this sounds like just another attack on women’s reproductive rights, which would be true if the information was wrong, or stated in an extreme, agenda driven way, but if it’s accurate, true, and honest, then women should know it and men should know it too. So what do we ‘uncover’ in the film? HUSH FACT 1 - Having an extreme preterm birth prior to 32 weeks increases risk of breast cancer HUSH FACT 2 - Having a late term abortion increases risk of breast cancer HUSH FACT 3 - Having an abortion prior to having a child is associated with an increased risk of breast cancer, especially prior to 20 years old. HUSH FACT 4 - Surgical vacuum aspiration abortion, which is still the most common type of abortion, is associated with an increased risk of extreme premature birth in future pregnancies, and multiple prior abortions is particularly of concern. HUSH FACT 5 - Feeling pressured by others or conflicted about having an abortion, having a moral opposition to abortion, having multiple abortions, having an abortion at a young age, or having a late term abortion, put you in a higher risk category for psychological problems post abortion. HUSH FACT 6 - That more study is needed in all these areas to clarify more specifics. Instead of an argument, we want to help start a healthy conversation."
SABRE Donated $1 Million to The National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. ®

01:56
SABRE Security Equipment Corporation, the leading brand of pepper spray and personal safety products worldwide is celebrating an elite milestone. This month SABRE will surpass the $1 million mark in their donations to their partner of six years, the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc. ® Like most, the Nance family of SABRE has been touched by cancer, which is why the family-owned company wanted to work with a non-profit that would help others going through the same ordeal. The founder of SABRE passed away from multiple myeloma in 2012 after a fifteen year battle with cancer. “Women are the largest users of our SABRE personal safety products. Since we’ve received tremendous support for our brand for four decades, we believe in giving back and helping others,” says current CEO David Nance. “The National Breast Cancer Foundation was very highly ranked and regarded. We learned that a greater percentage of our donations would be used to help fight breast cancer than the other charities we researched.” Over 80% of the NBCF’s revenue is directed to their life-saving programs each year. The National Breast Cancer Foundation was started in 1991 by a breast cancer survivor with the mission of helping women by educating them about the disease and the importance of early detection. According to National Cancer Institute, when it’s found early in the localized stage the five year survival rate of breast cancer is 98%. Since 1991, the NBCF has helped over ten thousand women in all 50 states and around the world. “SABRE Red has been steadfast in their support of NBCF’s mission to help women now,” says NBCF Founder and CEO Janelle Hail. “Since 2008, they’ve raised $1 million and helped provide over ten thousand mammograms and early detection services for those in need. We look forward to this year’s campaign because we know their impact will extend to women in all 50 states.” SABRE manufactures a line of pink products, four different pepper sprays and a personal alarm to generate funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. For each pink product sold, SABRE is able to make a donation. This isn’t just an initiative the company takes on during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, it’s a year-round fundraising effort that supports cornerstones of both organizations: empowering women to protect themselves by giving them the necessary tools and education. “We are so thankful for the huge support these products have received,” says Nance. “Giving back to the community has always been a strong goal of the company, and we’re thrilled that the success of these products is allowing us to make a real difference.” To learn more about SABRE’s pink products and the company’s partnership with the National Breast Cancer Foundation, visit http://www.sabrered.com/nbcf/ or follow SABRE on https://www.facebook.com/sabreredpepperspray, https://twitter.com/sabrered and http://instagram.com/SabreSafety.
