Nexium And Prilosec Causing Massive Health Problems, Including Kidney Failure - The Ring Of Fire

03:52
An estimated 15 million Americans are currently taking drugs like Nexium which work to control heartburn, indigestion, and acid reflux. Unfortunately, those who turn to Nexium and other Proton-pump inhibitors will need to proceed much more cautiously as studies have confirmed that taking these drugs increase the chance of kidney problems – and even kidney failure – by as much as fifty percent. Proton-pump inhibitors are a class of drugs which include Nexium, Prilosec, and Prevacid which work by blocking the secretion of acid into the stomach. These extremely common medications are sold both by prescription and over-the-counter. The recent discovery of this increased risk of chronic kidney disease and even failure means that much more care must be taken in determining if a person should be popping the purple pill. America's Lawyer, Mike Papantonio, discusses this with Thom Hartmann. Nexium Side Effects | Get Permanent Relief From Heartburn & Acid Reflux

03:21
Check Out This Video and Book Recommendation To Learn Some Amazing Tips On Curing Your Acid Reflux & Heartburn Forever! Check It Out Here - http://tiny.cc/heartburn-remedy Nexium Side Effects - In this video, we discuss the effects of Nexium, which include both the short term side effects and long term health concerns. Nexium is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) often prescribed to treat heartburn and acid reflux, and more specifically, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). To provide relief, the drug effectively stops the stomach from producing acid. While this drug does have the ability to provide short term relief, it also has the potential to lead to long term health problems. Most people are familiar with the side effects that are displayed on the commercial and box label because, quite simply, this is what is advertised. These side effects of Nexium include headaches, nausea, diarrhea, dry mouth, stomach pain and constipation. In addition, there are some even more severe initial Nexium side effects: dizziness, uneven heart rate, seizures, choking, and cramping. However, what is less known about the side effects of Nexium is what it can do to your body a year, 2 years, or even longer down the road. Stomach acid can cause pain, hence acid reflux and why you are probably considering or already prescribed Nexium. However, stomach acid is a natural occurrence in the body. When you stop something in your body that is supposed to happen naturally, some nasty stuff can happen, especially if you take Nexium for too long (ie. more than 8 weeks). In 40% of people who take Nexium for more than 8 weeks, they actually become addicted. And if you do end up taking Nexium for a year or more, it can increase the chance of Osteporosis by 45% and the chance of dementia by 18%. That is just startling! In addition, with the lack of acid production, natural absorption of minerals is hindered, your stomach is more prone to infection and bacteria growth, which in turn, increases the chances of stomach cancer. Like most prescription drugs, Nexium obviously serves a purpose and can rightfully be prescribed by a doctor to treat your heartburn or acid reflux. However, please note, that Nexium just provides short term relief instead of a long term solution to prevent you from having those uncomfortable symptoms in the future. This is why, after doing our research, we recommend that you click the link at the top of the video description to learn about some more natural ways to provide a permanent cure to heartburn and acid reflux. Proton Pump Inhibitor Dangers

02:59
PPI Safety Issues Dr. Jack Cush writing in Rheum Now reviewed the safety of proton pump inhibitors, drugs that have been used for peptic ulcer disease, as well as reflux. Among the safety concerns are… PPIs will decrease gastric acid and may affect drug blood levels where absorption is acid dependent, including several antiretroviral and cancer therapy drugs. Other drugs, such as digoxin, may be absorbed more extensively when gastric acid is reduced; thus, digoxin toxicity may occur with PPI use. Warfarin's effect also is increased in patients taking PPIs. Decreased gastric acid can lower absorption of vitamin B12, calcium, iron, and magnesium. An analysis of 9 studies found a 40% increased risk of low magnesium with PPI. If severe, hypomagnesemia may lead to muscle weakness, tetany, convulsions, arrhythmias. Due to the lowering of gastric acidity, there is a higher risk of Clostridium difficile infection and community-acquired pneumonia among PPI users. Recent large reviews show that there is a 50% increased risk of chronic kidney disease and an increased risk of acute kidney disease with chronic PPI use. PPIs may decrease bone density and increase fracture risk by reducing intestinal calcium absorption. Given these impactful risks, clinicians should try to use the lowest possible dose of PPI and to discontinue PPI therapy if it is not essential. The benefits of PPI therapy must be weighed against their potential contribution to harm in susceptible individuals. Some patients may benefit from intermittent or on-demand regimens may be sufficient to manage problems or control symptoms. Comment: Food for thought.

Top Ten Drugs That Cause Kidney Damage: Please Do Not Ignore This Please SUBSCRIBE : http://bit.ly/2e9Su11 The damage to the kidneys can often be caused by the use of various drugs, so we tried to classify them today and reveal the top ten, at least according to types: antibiotic, analgesic, etc. These are the top 10 drugs which damage kidneys: 1. Antibiotics, such as ciprofloxacin, vancomycin, methicillin, sulfonamides. 2. Analgesics, like acetaminophen, as well as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID): ibuprofen, aspirin, naproxen, etc. 3. Antiviral drugs, such as indinavir and tenofovir, both used to treat HIV, and acyclovir (brand name Zovirax) which is used in the case of herpes infection. 4. Anticonvulsants, like trimethadione (brand name Tridione), used to treat seizures and other conditions, and phenytoin (brand name Dilantin). 5. Headlines in Health: PPI's and Kidney Disease

04:55
Drs. Vaughan and Carlson discuss the topic of PPIs and Kidney disease. Are Prilosec, Nexium and other PPIs safe and what is the best way to use these medicines in consultation with your doctor? PPI Kidney Injury G:welcome and introduction of Dr. Mark Vaughan of the Auburn Medical Group YouTube Channel M: thanks Dr. Carlson. It's an honor to be on your YouTube channel. I look forward to the conversation we will share and the opportunity it presents for you, our respective subscribers, to learn about The facts behind the sensational headlines. G: there has been quite a bit of media coverage of an article in the February edition of the Journal of the American medical Association internal medicine. It is a study which suggests that a common drug to both of our practices can cause injury to patients’ kidneys. The class of drug is called proton pump inhibitors. Most of you will recognize the names Prilosec and Nexium as popular name brands from this class. Their function is to turn off the acid pump in the stomach to decrease injury from acid inside the digestive tract. These medicines are usually prescribed for patients who have either short-term or long-term overproduction of acid resulting in symptoms ranging from heartburn to stomach ulcers. Now that they are available over-the-counter without a prescription they are used by many patients without any consultation with a physician. M: The article reports on a small study done on data collected during the atherosclerosis risk in communities study which studied over 10 thousand subjects. The results were then replicated by analyzing records of over 240 thousand individuals. They found that patients who used proton pump inhibitor drugs had a significantly higher incidence of chronic kidney disease on a blood test compared to people who did not use these drugs. They also found that there was a significant increase in kidney disease when compared to people who used H2 antagonist drugs. The cutoff they used to delineate between people with and without chronic kidney disease was based on a lab value found on a blood test. There was no requirement that the patients have any symptoms or other noticeable effect on their health to be labeled as having kidney disease. It is expected that the vast majority of these patients will never suffer any significant ill effects apart from this number found on a lab test. G: but that does not give us license to take these drugs willy-nilly. They should still only be used when there is significant benefit over alternative treatments. The simplest is through diet. Many of the problems which respond to this type of medication can be better treated by reducing intake Of fatty foods, alcohol, spicy foods, and acidic foods. Symptoms can also be decreased by eating smaller quantities during meals and not lying down within two hours of eating. If symptoms only occur occasionally, say less than three times per week, occasional use of an over-the-counter antacid can resolve the symptoms. More persistent symptoms may be treated by a doctor using an over the counter H2 antagonist like Zantac. M: without physician supervision, these medicines really should only be taken for a short period, not exceeding two weeks. I will often use these medicines for a 30 day period followed by a recheck. Patients continuing to have symptoms after this treatment are referred to a gastroenterologist for endoscopy. The gastroenterologist will check for serious disorders which can even include cancer of the digestive tract. Most patients do not have a serious disorder and many end up doing best continuing on these medicines long-term. G: we hope this gives you a better understanding of the concerns surrounding the use of proton pump inhibitors and kidney disease. If you are taking these medications for longer than a couple weeks without the supervision of a physician we urge you to make an appointment to discuss it with your doctor. Please be sure to subscribe to my channel and use the card to visit Dr. Vaughan's Auburn Medical Grp channel where you can find over 100 videos on medical topics and demonstrating medical procedures. dr Vaughan, this was great. thanks for being a guest on my channel. M:. Thanks for having me.I loved it. I hope to do more of these in the future. G: and that's Headlines in Health

Proton pump Inhibitors(Prilosec, Omeprazole, Prevacid,Nexium, Protonix) and H2 antagonist (cimetidine,Ranitidine) are commonly prescribed for Acid reflux and Gerd without the side effects carefully considered. Haphazardly prescribing these medications can increase the patients risk for: esophageal cancer, Stomach cancer (gastric cancer), small and large intestine, rectal neuroendocrine tumors. Neuroendocrine cancer can occur in the lungs, GI tract, and other endocrine organs. From my experience in with my patients very few people truly over produce Hydrochloric acid. Proton Pump Inhibitors Increase Risk for Kidney Failure and Heart Attacks

04:58
Proton pump inhibitors (PPIs) such as Prilosec, Nexium, Protonix, and Aciphex have been available for about 20 years and each year about 15 million people use them and bring in $10 billion every year. PPIs are vastly overprescribed by MDs and because they are available over the counter, are overused by patients. The major known side effects of PPIs include poor digestion, poor absorption of B12, iron, calcium, and magnesium which lead to an increased risk for osteoporosis, senile dementia, C difficile infections, pneumonia and now according to articles in the January 11, 2016 issue of the journal Internal Medicine an increased risk for having chronic kidney disease and, as documented in the June of 2015 issue of the journal PLoS One, heart attacks. PPIs also block the metabolism of Valium, Coumadin, DIlantin, Digoxin and probably decrease the effectiveness of Plavix. For more information, visit http://doctorsaputo.com

Treat and Stop Acid Reflux with Natural Medicine - Dr. Patti Kim, ND

04:57
Low stomach acid causes most Acid Reflux symptoms, according to Dr. Patti Kim, ND (Naturopathic Doctor). In this video interview, Dr. Kim discusses: 1) The symptoms of Acid Reflux, including burning, heat or pain sensation in chest and/or throat area, regurgitation, belching due to the sphincter being weakened, feeling full sooner than normal, chronic sore throats or laryngitis. 2) The conventional treatment for Acid Reflux, including calcium carbonate antacids such as Tums, Maalox, Mylanta; or proton pump inhibitors such as Prilosec, Nexium, Prevacid and Protonix. 3) That neutralizing stomach acid or stopping stomach acid production with artificial drugs can be harmful to the body because of the numerous side effects associated with the drugs, and that this type of conventional symptom treatment does not treat the root cause. 4) That stress is a primary cause of lowering stomach acid. 5) That stomach acids leak into the esophagus because of a weak sphincter (often due to stress). 6) Factors that influence acid reflux: poor nutrition, foods that cause inflammation, eating spicy foods and alcohol. 7) Natural Medicine treatment of acid reflux includes: stomach pH may be tested; goal is to raise stomach acid (or lower if too high) through dietary changes, exercise, herbs, nutritional supplements, digestive supplements and Homeopathic remedies. 8) Especially important is removal of processed foods and eating whole, organic foods. 9) Dr. Kim has a great success rate of stopping acid reflux: most of her patients are symptom free within a week. Living Life Without Prilosec and Other Acid Blockers!

11:22
If you are having an ongoing battle with heartburn, acid reflux or GERD (not totally sure of the difference) like I was over the last few years, and wound up taking more Prilosec, Nexium, Prevacid, etc. (acid blockers) than you care to, tune in! Acid blockers are NOT A CURE, they are just a short-term solution (contrary to what doctors may have led you to believe). Tune in to hear what I am hoping is a long-term solution that allows me to eat what I want without the problems of excess stomach acid. Who knows, it just might help you as well. Check with your doctor first though. :-) One last thing... I forgot to mention that a doctor I saw on the Dr. Oz show said that she recommends 2 mg of melatonin one hour before bedtime for her patients that suffer from acid reflux symptoms. Supposedly, this helps wean them from acid blocking drugs. According to Dr. Oz it will also help you sleep more soundly, as well as help with GERD symptoms WITHOUT stopping stomach acid production. Check out his website for more details, and TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR before trying it. Hope it helps! www,eformationqueen.com https://www.facebook.com/eFormationQueen

Why Prilosec Nexium might not work for you -(Proton pump inhibitors)

04:14
Why don't drugs like aciphex, prilosec, nexium, or protonix work for me? I get this question alot in my medical practice. The answer is these drugs are perfect if you over produce Hydrochloric acid. However, Rarely do I come across a patient who truly over produces HCL. Most of the time their Acid reflux or Gastroesophageal reflux is caused by something else: Diet, weight, overeating, or LOW production of hydrochloric acid. Yes, Acid reflux can be caused by LOW PRODUCTION of HCl, you didn't read that wrong. Taking proton pump inhibitors (PPI's) like aciphex, prilosec, nexium, or protonix is perfect if you happen to be one of those few people who over produce hydrochloric acid. But if that's not you, well, you'll be asking yourself and your doctor "Why don't these drugs work for me?"
