Product Endorsement: Canine Allergy Med (Apoquel)
As described in this video Hunter (aka Hooey) suffered for years with nasty yeast infections in her ears, and on her stomach (skin). Last year, a new medication called Apoquel came out on the market, and our Vet (Animal Hospital of Mebane) suggested we give it a try. The results have been utterly amazing. No more infections. No more vet bills. Now, that said, the medication costs about $85 for a month's supply, but in the long run, I think it's cheaper ... and her quality of life is SO much better. Back when the vet suggested we try it, the option was to have her tested for allergies, and he said that whatever allergy she has the was causing all the fungal infections will ultimately be traced to something on the property (e.g. weeds, grass, pollen) that aren't going away. So, the Apoquel essentially masks that allergy and keeps her infection free. As stated in the video, her blood chemistry is monitored every few months to make sure the med isn't causing any sort of organ damage. So far, so good!
Treating My Dog's Allergies | Veterinary Medicine
It is important to remember that itching is not a disease, or a cause of disease, but rather the result of a disease process. Effectively treating itching requires treating its cause. Not every patient is the same. It is important to work together with your veterinarian to find the best treatment necessary for you and your pet. These are my opinions and I always ALWAYS recommended consulting your veterinarian first. ✔ V E T E R I N A R Y V L O G S https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLRSnfSqo-l4we6gZK0mqN_tzM92k2FHym ✔ S T I T C H F I X P L A Y L I S T https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list... ✔S I G N U P F O R S T I T C H F I X ! * http://www.anrdoezrs.net/links/8761804/type/dlg/https://www.stitchfix.com/referral/81 ✔ S N A P C H A T vlbirch0429 ✔ I N S T A G R A M https://www.instagram.com/victoriabirch1/ https://www.instagram.com/life_as_alexandra/ ✔ T W I T T E R https://twitter.com/victoriabirch1 ✔ F A C E B O O K https://www.facebook.com/victoriabirch0429 ✔ E M A I L victoriabirch1@gmail.com ✔ W R I T E T O M E H E R E Victoria Birch P.O. Cure your dogs allergies skin and ear infections. Make your own dog food.
Make your pet healthier and allergie free by making their food at home. A good siter for foods NOT to feed your dog http://www.peteducation.com/article.cfm?c=2+1659&aid=1030 (((( I am not a vet and you are solely responsible for what you feed your pet )))) As for the recipe: All will depend on the size batch you are making so go by the percentage below. You may alter this according to how you believe you should feed your pet. We use: about 30-40 percent protien (more around 40 right now for the puppy) beef, fish, pork, turkey, chicken. If you dog is itching... just use beef and fish to start with and if they stop or improve add pork next time and see if they are still goog to go. if so try the next protien until you find the one that makes them itch. then don't use that one ever lol. 30 - 40 percent veggies (stear away from corn as it just passes through dogs because their system is to short to absorb it). But if there is a great deal on mixed veggies by all means use it. about 10 percent potatos mixed with sweet potatos or by thereselves. 10 -15 percent jasmine rice. (add about a half a cup extra water and cook slightly longer so the rice is really soft. You can add fruits as well and also veggies like squash and cucumber eggplant etc. Also you can get a multi-vitemin to make sure you are giving them all the vitemins and minerals.

Canine Chin Rest Behavior: Allergy Medication Injection
This sweet dog (named Deenie) has a history of responding to veterinary procedures in a stressful manner (jumping, climbing, running away, mouthing, panting, and vocalizing). Her family has done an amazing job educating themselves toward researching being under the professional care of a veterinary behaviorist, a referring veterinary team that provides positive general wellness care, and a veterinary dermatologist. It is an honor to join this collaboration as their professional trainer, and to help teach proactive, positive husbandry behaviors. Also to help reduce everyone's stress, and create positive associations. We have been practicing the chin rest behavior in many scenarios. Deenie has allergies that require monthly medication. This video highlights the first time we introduced the actual injections into the chin rest behavior. We are so proud of the small steps toward today's progress. Deenie is a brilliant animal teacher!

This dog has Contact Dermatitis from grass allergy. It is painful and itchy. Other body parts can be affected, ears, tummy, any part that comes into contact with the grass, or whatever allergen is causing it. If this is not treated the dog will chew at it till it bleeds leaving it open to infection. I am not a vet, I followed the treatment plan given to me by my vet. Some immediate relief can be given to the dog by bathing in Aloveen Oatmeal Shampoo, towel drying and applying Aloveen Oatmeal Intensive Conditioner, and massaging extra conditioner onto the affected parts. Don't let the dog have any contact with grass for at least a week after this bath, if it gets out and gets exposure, no matter how brief, wash the dogs paws in the same products immediately. The next video will show the rash 3 days after exposure was elimated. DISCLAIMER: Please contact your vet for advice on what products to use on your dog. I am not endorsing or advocating the use of the products I have named. This is what I used and it worked but I'm sure there are many other products that work. The main thing is not to use anything strong that may cause further irritation.
