A new study from the Jiangsu Provincial Centre for Disease Control and Prevention in China has found that eating raw garlic twice a week can reduce the risk of developing lung cancer by up to 44 percent.  A new study from the Jiangsu Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention in China has found that eating raw garlic twice a week can reduce the risk of developing lung cancer by up to 44 percent. The results of the research even suggested that the risk for smokers developing lung cancer was reduced by 30 percent if they ate enough raw garlic. Lung cancer is more deadly than other forms of cancer like breast or prostate cancer, but the study claims that garlic consumption can be chemopreventative. Cancer Control Policy Acting Director Robert Nuttall of the Canadian Cancer Society argued "that it takes many years for lung cancer to develop, and so it's not entirely clear what the individuals' garlic consumption was in the past. For lung cancer, the number one thing a person can do is not smoke, and we also know that healthy diets...with combinations of fruits and vegetables, can reduce the risk of cancer, and garlic is one component of that diet." Risk factors that contribute to the growth of lung cancer include smoking, and being exposed to air pollution or fumes from burning food.

Today I'm going to answer the question, is garlic good for diabetes. But before we get into that, make sure you download my free diabetes management book which also includes a diabetes grocery shopping guide (foods to eat and avoid). I am a huge fan of garlic. My wife, however, isn’t. So it is a battle at times when we eat Italian food. I cannot even think of eating a pasta dish without a buttery loaf of garlic bread on the table. She can hardly stand the smell or even the thought of garlic. But to her credit, she toughs it out when we both want a nice plate of ziti or manicotti. Most people have a distinct opinion on garlic. They either love it or they hate it. There usually isn’t much “in between” thoughts about it. Like onions, shallots and leaks, garlic is a member of the lilly family. Is it an herb? Or is it a spice? Or is it a vegetable? Or is it a fruit? The bulb grows underground, it has a stalk and leaves. In the most general terms, without going into why, garlic is a vegetable. It is also an herb. And to some people it stinks. But what about garlic and diabetes? Garlic has been used for thousands of years as both a traditional medicine and a seasoning. Today, garlic supplements are marketed to help lower cholesterol, help in the fight of cancer, heart diseases, diabetes, Alzheimer’s and arthritis. The Berkeley Wellness Center at the University of California says that one of the key components of garlic is allicin, a sulfur compound formed in raw garlic after a clove is cut or crushed. But scientists cannot agree if allicin is the main beneficial ingredient. As a matter of fact, they can’t agree on which component is most important. Looking at the range of claims by supplement companies and others, here is the truth about garlic. In regards to lowering LDL or “bad” cholesterol: A 2007 study from Stanford University found no benefit when it tested raw garlic and two popular supplements for six months in people with high LDL. There’s no evidence that garlic actually prevents heart attacks. In regards to high blood pressure: There are a few short-term studies with limited participants that have garlic has a small impact on blood pressure. In regards to cancer: The evidence is mixed, at best. In regards to colds: A 2012 study found that garlic did not reduce the incidence of colds (or flu) but it did reduce the serverity. For other conditions, like diabetes there’s no good evidence of benefit. So is garlic good for diabetes? It will not cure your diabetes. In some it may help lower your blood sugar, but there is no science to prove it. Is it bad for diabetes? No. If you like garlic, use it. Just don’t expect that garlic supplement to take the place of your medication for diabetes. I hope this answered your question is garlic good or bad for diabetes. I would have to say, that even if it is only psychosomatic, the vitamin C, enzymes, and minerals such as sulfur and selenium, definitely help my body. Since Allicin is only present shortly after garlic is crushed and before it is heated, Eating fresh garlic is best for treating a cold or flu. As I mention in the video some experts even recommend eating a clove or two every couple of hours until the bug is entirely gone. However, this may play havoc on your social schedule, and later in the video I share a tip to help that, but in today's video I show how to make a cough syrup that makes the garlic a little easier to swallow. Basically all I did was to blend garlic with apple cider vinegar, strain, and bottle. In the video I also added some other ingredients for taste and to add to the tincture's effectiveness. A new study reveals ginger contains a pungent compound that could be up to 10,000 times more effective than conventional chemotherapy in targeting the cancer stem cells at the root of cancer malignancy. A new study published in PLoS reveals a pungent component within ginger known as 6-shogaol is superior to conventional chemotherapy in targeting the root cause of breast cancer malignancy: namely, the breast cancer stem cells. As we have discussed in greater detail in a previous article titled, “Cancer Stem Cells: The Key To Curing Cancer,” cancer stem cells are at the root of a wide range of cancers, not just breast cancer, and are sometimes referred to as “mother cells” because they are responsible for producing all the different “daughter” cell types that makeup the tumor colony. While cancer stem cells only constitute between .2 and 1% of the cells within any given tumor, they have the seeming “immortal” ability to self renew, are capable of continuous differentiation, are resistant to conventional chemotherapeutic agents, and are tumorigenic, i.e. are capable of “splitting off” to create new tumor colonies. Clearly, the cancer stem cells within a tumor must be destroyed if cancer treatment is to affect a lasting cure. The new study titled, “6-Shogaol Inhibits Breast Cancer Cells and Stem Cell-Like Spheroids by Modulation of Notch Signaling Pathway and Induction of Autophagic Cell Death,” identified powerful anti-cancer stem cell activity in 6-shogaol, a pungent constituent of ginger produced when the root is either dried or cooked. The study also found that the cancer-destroying effects occurred at concentrations that were non-toxic to non-cancerous cells – a crucial difference from conventional cancer treatments that do not exhibit this kind of selective cytotoxicity and therefore can do great harm to the patient. The authors of the study further affirm these points: “Cancer stem cells pose serious obstacle to cancer therapy as they can be responsible for poor prognosis and tumour relapse. To add into the misery, very few chemotherapeutic compounds show promise to kill these cells. Several researchers have shown that cancer stem cells are resistant to paclitaxel, doxorubicin, 5-fluorouracil, and platinum drugs [8, 16]. CSCs are thus an almost unreachable population in tumours for chemotherapy.
