Im a mom of 4 and one stepson, got laid off so need pantry most months. This is the pantry in Alsip IL its called operation blessing.
Most the items at a food pantry is either expired or very close to expired, but many foods you can eat past expiration date as long as its not a funny color or smell..
im not a doc or specialist so this is my opinion , you are responsible for you- this is just my opinion.
often its mac & cheese boxes, peanut butter, canned beans, oatmeal, cranberry sauce ,beef stew and bread..
( i use the beef stew for when I dont have dog food its healthy for them and helps me)
btw most pantries near me you can visit once a month there are 3 near me..
** I forgot about the bread at this pantry they let you take as much bread as you want I took one loaf, hamburgers buns, and pretzel bread.
