Been getting an odd amount of questions relating to how ejaculation affects the body's testosterone levels.. So I went ahead and did a little research just to put all "broscience" to rest. All in all, it can. Short term abstinence (around 7 days) has shown to slightly increase test levels. Long term abstinence (around 3 months) has been shown to decrease test levels. Having an ejaculation does not acutely affect immediate testosterone levels. Ejaculating to "sexual exhaustion" can negatively affect your body's androgen receptors, therefore limiting how well it utilizes testosterone. Sex with an actual person can significantly increase testosterone levels. If so, how much does smoking marijuana lower testosterone? Is there any real world proof to back up the idea that smoking weed will lower your testosterone and hinder your muscle gains in the gym? Is there any link at all between marijuana and testosterone? That's what we're going to discuss in this video... While I'm not a marijuana smoker myself, I'm often asked from my online followers about the implications of smoking weed and working out. Specifically "Does smoking marijuana reduce the body's testosterone production?" Now I used to say "YES, marijuana lowers testosterone levels" because that's what I heard from some sources back in the day. But I never actually did any research to try and validate this information. So last weekend I did some homework by searching google to try and find out once and for all if smoking weed would have any impact on a man's testosterone levels. Now this certainly wasn't a formal research project by any stretch of the imagination, it was just me looking stuff up on google. But none the less I couldn't find a darn thing that could validate that smoking marijuana had any negative impacts on testosterone levels. To summarize this is what I found... Marijuana has been said to interfere with the production of testosterone and other hormones associated with reproduction, causing possible infertility among adult users and delayed sexual development among adolescents. However, there is no evidence that marijuana lowers testosterone levels or that it impairs male reproductive functioning. In epidemiological surveys of marijuana users, no problems with fertility have emerged as important. In laboratory studies, researchers have been unable to find any negative impacts on testosterone levels from casual use of marijuana. However, one study that administered very high THC doses - up to 20 marijuana cigarettes per day for 30 days showed a slight decrease in sperm concentrations. But the test results remained within normal ranges and probably would not have affected actual fertility. So to answer the question: Does Marijuana Lower Testosterone Levels? I don't think it does. Does that mean I recommend that you smoke weed? Heck NO! I don't think it's safe or healthy to breathe any smoke into your lungs, regardless of the source. But for those of you who are going to smoke up and get high regardless, at least it won't lower your testosterone levels. There’s an over release of Dopamine, the “pleasure chemical” and this then causes a negative rebound and reduces sensitivity at the dopamine receptors. So in regards to testosterone levels - yes, ketogenic diets can dramatically drop your levels and screw up a lot of your hormones, especially your stress hormone, cortisol.1,3 So as cortisol goes up, your testosterone goes down. And for women, it also causes hormonal imbalances and can really mess up their menstrual cycles long term. I’ve seen these negative hormonal changes over and over again during the years, including on myself. I personally feel horrible on Ketogenic diets. Granted, some people like them. But hormonally speaking, the majority of blood tests I’ve seen over the years, almost always caused negative changes in your youth hormones - especially your testosterone and cortisol ratios. In fact, a study showed that just reducing your carbohydrates down to 30% of your calories, testosterone levels dropped by 36%!5 And this was just 30% of calories - A ketogenic diet is only 5% carbohydrates, so can just imagine how much LOWER your testosterone will be. In fact, the results are even worse with Olympic athletes and weight lifters.4 So What’s The Solution IF you really want to follow a ketogenic diet, do one that’s cyclical. Maybe 5 days on, 2 days off… where you “carb up” during the 2 days “off”. And limited the ketogenic diet for only a few weeks or a couple of months at the most, until your reach your goal. If you want to follow it long-term, just monitor your hormones, how you look and feel. Remember, carbohydrates aren’t evil. We have all heard of it, we know that it’s linked to building muscle and athletic performance and that people sometimes supplement it; but what does it really do? Where does it come from? Although testosterone does have effects on the human body from conception all the way through puberty, I’m going to focus specifically on the effects of testosterone in adults (post-puberty) in this video. Keep your workouts short. No more than 30-45 minutes. No more than 3-4x weekly. Don’t kill yourself. You should leave the gym feeling GOOD and refreshed. Not as if you just got done wrestling Kingkong and you’re dead tired. Take vitamins and herbs after your workout, that are clinically proven to reduce cortisol and increase your testosterone. This simple exercise will also help avoid the embarrasing “premature ejeculation”, allowing you to statisfy your parter, better and long than ever before. If you’ve been following my work and watching my videos, you would know that certain exercises can either increase or decrease your libido, erection strength, hardness and even size, because of hormonal changes. If you didn’t already know, testosterone is the primary hormone that increases your libido, sex drive and “muscle size”. Unfortunately, this hormone starts to decrease around the age of 25. However, certain exercises can increase your decrease your testosterone. For example, doing too much cardiovascular exercise - like running, jogging, etc. can decrease your testosterone because of the increase in your stress hormone, cortisol. TWO things you do NOT want to do. One of the best forms of exercise for increasing your testosterone is lifting weights. However, too much of that isn’t good either. About 3-4x weekly, no more than an hour is just the right amount to increase your testosterone and help improve your libido and sex drive. The Non-Exercise, Exercise However, today I’m NOT going to discuss anything about lifting weights, cardio, etc. I’ve done that in the past. What I want to talk about is a very simple “non-exercise”, exercise... that you can do RIGHT NOW, while watching this video and that’s called, the Kegel Exercise. I call this the “non-exercise” exercise because it requires no gym, equipment or even real movement. Now, some of you may have heard of this. Unfortunately most do it incorrectly. Kegel exercises are done to strengthen the perineal muscles. To “flex” this muscle, it’s very simple. One way to describe how to do it is, by contracting your anus muscle, as if you’re trying to hold in gas. Go ahead and give it a try now... Another way to do it is stop peeing midway through. Thus, as you’re peeing, “contract the muscle” that will STOP the pee, midway through. That’s it - that’s a kegel exercise. Super simple, but extremely effective. You can literally do it anywhere, anytime and nobody would know. Sets & Reps You should do kegel’s about 3x a week to start with. Over time, slowly build up to 5x weekly. Just don’t do it every single day because like any muscle, it requires rest to gain strength. Contract the muscle (holding in gas or stop peeing) and hold for 3-5 seconds. Relax for 1-2 seconds. That’s ONE repetition Do this 10 of these, for 10 repetitions. That’s ONE set Do one set of 10 repetitions, 3x weekly. Then maybe the next week do 2 sets of 10 reps and work up to 3 sets of 10 reps, 3x weekly. You can do it all at once, or break it up 2-3x daily. Nothing it set in stone. What matters is consistency, persistence and patience. Benefits There lots of benefits when this muscle is strong Stronger, full erections Last longer, more stamina and the prevention of premature ejeculation. Stronger orgasms. Healthier prostate. Improvement for those who have overactive bladder or urinary incontinence. How To Improve Results Of course, doing the right exercises is a great start.
