See What Happens To Your Body When You Drink A Pint Of Beer Everyday

03:25
Feel guilty about drinking a beer or two? Don’t feel guilty. Contrary to what you might expect, moderate beer consumption is actually good for you. Science has shown that beer can bring many surprising health benefits even though it’s usually perceived as unhealthy. However, remember the key to good health is moderation like a pint a day. Binge drinking on a Friday night will do way more damage and it would be unwise to justify poor habits with false science. So Here are some remarkable and surprising beer benefits that might change your perception of the drink. 1.It can help prevent kidney stones A study conducted in Finland established that moderate daily consumption of beer can reduce the risk of developing kidney stones by 40%. This health benefit is attributed to beer’s high water content (about 93%) that helps flush harmful toxins out of the body and keep the kidneys working properly. Also, compounds in hops used in brewing help slow the release of calcium from bones, which in turn prevents build up of lost calcium in the kidney in the form of stones. 2.It can help reduce risk of heart disease One eye-opening study conducted at Italy’s Fondazion di Ricerca e Cura found that people who drank a pint of beer daily had a 31% reduced chance of heart disease. This heart protecting power of beer stems largely from beer’s natural antioxidants called phenols. However, the study also showed risk of heart disease increased in people who consumed higher amounts of beer. 3.It can help minimize risk of cancer Beer contains an important antioxidant known as xanthohumol. Xanthohumol is known to have powerful anti cancer properties that help fend off cancer causing enzymes in the body. Specifically, moderate beer consumption helps prevent a certain chemical reaction that can lead to prostate cancer in men. Beer has also been shown to reduce the chances of getting breast cancer in women. 4.It can help reduce cholesterol levels If you’d like an unorthodox method for cutting your cholesterol levels, indulging in moderate beer consumption may be the way to go. The barley used in brewing of beer contains a type of soluble fiber known as beta glucans that has been shown to help in lowering cholesterol levels. 5.Reduce risk of stroke. Study discussed on Web-MD found occasional beer drinkers had a 12 percent decreased risk of ischemic stroke, compared with nondrinkers. On the flip side, heavy drinkers have a 33% increased risk of ischemic stroke. 6.Lower blood pressure. If you have a choice between beer, wine, or a cocktail, choose beer. Men's Health says a Harvard study found beer drinkers are less likely to develop high blood pressure than are wine and liquor drinkers. So now you have a reason to drink a pint everyday, remember the key to reaping these amazing health benefits of beer is moderate consumption. Overindulgence in beer and other alcoholic drinks can be disastrous to your health. 12 Ways Your Body Tries To Tell You That Your Liver Is Being Damaged

04:55
12 Ways Your Body Tries To Tell You That Your Liver Is Being Damaged The liver is the largest solid organ in your body. It is located in the right upper quadrant of your abdomen and partly protected by the ribs. You need your liver for many important bodily functions and cannot live without your liver. For this reason, you should know the early signs of liver damage and take care of your liver as much as you possibly can. There are more than a hundred different kinds of diseases of the liver. Each has its own set of symptoms. Some of these diseases include alcoholic liver disease, hepatitis, fatty liver disease, and cirrhosis of the liver. The early signs of liver disease tend to be easily overlooked and are non-specific, related to any number of different conditions. Here are some common early signs. 1. Upset Stomach You are likely to get nausea and vomiting. They can mimic other diseases, such as migraines, food poisoning, vertigo, motion sickness, early pregnancy, depression and vomiting. It can mimic kidney problems as well. Those who suffer from early liver damage often feel persistently nauseous, because the liver has a decreased ability to rid the body of toxins. The nausea can also be due to ongoing metabolism and changes in digestion. If you have these symptoms for several days and don’t know why, seek the attention of your doctor. 2. Fatigue and Overall Weakness One of the early and obvious signs of liver damage is constantly feeling tired and weak. When the liver is not in great condition, the body must work harder and you will need more rest. This is due to an increase in toxins in the bloodstream that can’t be cleared out because the liver can’t get rid of the toxins properly. If the symptoms persist, especially with other early signs of liver damage, seek medical advice as soon as you can. 3. Lack of Appetite This happens due to a lack of production of bile that helps digest fat in the diet. When food isn’t properly digested, it can lead to a lack of appetite and a severe loss of weight. See your doctor if you experience any of these symptoms for a long period of time. 4. Digestion Problems The liver is important in digestion because it makes bile that helps the nutrients be better processed and absorbed by the small intestines. If the liver is failing, you can develop an increase in indigestion and diarrhea. If the bile is not produced properly, you can also experience irritable bowel syndrome, fatty food intolerance, alcohol intolerance, abdominal bloating, constipation and gallstones. If this becomes severe, you need to seek the medical attention of a doctor. 5. Alterations in the Color of Urine If you think you are drinking enough but still have a dark color of your urine, this may be one of the early signs of liver damage. The urine may look brown, amber, or orange in color because of elevated levels of bilirubin in the bloodstream. The bilirubin is elevated because the liver cannot get rid of the bilirubin and it is excreted through the kidneys. Dark urine may also be due to dehydration, side effects of taking antibiotics, taking B vitamin supplements, urinary tract infections, enzyme deficiencies or kidney abnormalities. The doctor can help sort out the cause of dark urine. 6. Changes in Stool Coloration Because the bile is not made enough by a malfunctioning liver, the color of the stool changes. Instead of being brown, it can become pale yellow, clay colored, or gray in appearance. If this happens periodically, it is not dangerous, but if it happens often, seek the advice of your doctor to check out your liver. https://youtu.be/VOx8ikPmaos

Chocolate and Red Wine Might Not Be So Healthy

01:15
Substance doesn't seem to protect people from heart disease, cancer, study says. The study found no significant difference in the rate of death between those with the highest and lowest levels of resveratrol. Resveratrol -- a substance found in red wine, grapes and chocolate may not add years to your life, and it doesn't appear to reduce the risk for heart disease or cancereither, according to new research. "When it comes to diet, health and aging, things are not simple and probably do not boil down to one single substance, such as resveratrol," said study lead researcher Dr. Richard Semba, a professor of ophthalmology at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore. The findings also cast doubt about taking resveratrol supplements, he said. "Perhaps it brings us back again to rather tried and true advice of diet -- Mediterranean-style -- and regular aerobic exercise for healthy aging," said Semba. The report was published May 12 in the online edition of JAMA Internal Medicine. Red wine and chocolate have been shown to have beneficial effects on health, and these benefits were attributed largely to a single substance -- resveratrol. Resveratrol has been credited as being responsible for the so-called "French paradox," in which even a diet high in cholesterol and fat can be healthy if it is accompanied with red wine, the researchers explained. For the study, Semba's team followed nearly 800 men and women 65 years or older who were part of the Aging in the Chianti Region study from 1998 to 2009 in two villages in Italy. These folks had a diet rich in resveratrol, the researchers note. To see if resveratrol in the diet could lower the risk of cancer, heart disease and death, the researchers measured traces of products left by resveratrol in the participant's urine. During the follow-up period, 268 people (34.3 percent) died; 174 (27.2 percent) developed heart disease and 34 (4.6 percent) developed cancer, the researchers found. When the researchers looked at the resveratrol levels, they found no significant differences in the rate of death from those with the lowest levels to the highest. They also found no association with higher levels of resveratrol and a lower risk of heart disease or cancer. In fact, the lowest rates of heart disease were in people with the lowest levels of resveratrol. The bottom line, according to Semba, is that dietary resveratrol didn't translate into fewer deaths, cancers or heart problems. Samantha Heller, a senior clinical nutritionist at New York University Medical Center in New York City, said, "A quick search of the medical literature finds that many of the current studies done with resveratrol have been done in test tubes or in animals. This study, in humans, seems to indicate that an increased consumption of foods that contain resveratrol, such as red grapes and wine, does not affect long-term health over nine years. It may be that the effects of dietary resveratrol are not evident in this time period." Resveratrol is famous for giving the green light to people who want to consume alcohol, Heller said. "Many of my patients ask me, 'Should I start or continue to drink wine? It's heart-healthy, isn't it?'" she said. One of the reasons red wine in particular is considered heart-healthy is because of its resveratrol content, Heller said. However, alcohol in any form can be toxic when one drinks too much. "While some studies indicate that regular consumption of red wine may have health benefits, the reality is that many of us drink too much alcohol, which over time can adversely affect liver and brain function, as well as blood sugar and weight," Heller said. Fruits and vegetables are loaded with a lot of phytochemicals (including resveratrol), vitamins and minerals that work together to help promote health and fight disease, she said. "Red grapes, peanuts, berries and other foods containing resveratrol are great to include in your diet; however, since we eat foods and not single nutrients or compounds, we must remember to look at the whole picture of what we eat and how we choose to live," said Heller. Current research and common sense suggests that a more plant-based, whole-food diet and regular exercise have long-term health benefits, Heller said. "This is not to say that a glass of wine now and then is not a healthy option. The American Heart Association recommends an average of one to two drinks per day for men and one drink per day for women," Heller said. (A drink is one 12-oz. beer, 5 oz. of wine, 1.5 oz. of 80-proof spirits, or 1 oz. of 100-proof spirits, according to the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute).

Avoid These 10 Foods to Avoid Worse Joint Pain

A lot of foods aid in removal of the pain (garlic, ginger, turmeric), but lots of them also worsen the issue. IN CASE OF JOINT PAIN, AVOID THESE: RED AND PROCESSED MEAT Both have chemical purine and nitrite that make pain and inflammation worse. These foods also have toxins called glycation end products AGEs and they make inflammation more serious. A 2014 study of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences said that red meat glycan develops more inflammation and progress of cancer. Another study of the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition made a link between red meat and inflammation markers. Replace the red processed meat with veggies and fruits. SUGARS AND ARTIFICIAL SWEETS. Too much sugar makes more AGEs and inflammation. Sugar triggers cytokines, the inflammation agent triggers. Also, the sugar causes weight gain and pressure on every joint. Also, avoid sodas and sweet drinks. A study of 2014, American Journal of Clinical Nutrition said regularly eating these things makes rheumatoid arthritis in women. Avoid the sodas, sweets, cereals with sugar, snacks, punches, pastries and candies. As healthy options consider stevia, honey or molasses. DAIRY. They worsen the pain because they have high amount of the protein causer of inflammation. The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine said this same protein also irritates surrounding joint tissue. That pain is also linked to saturated fats in dairy (cheese, milk, butter). Replace the pasteurized milk with almond, soy milk, tofu, margarine or similar. CORN OIL. This oil is full of omega 6 acids that are harmful for us. The Journal of Nutrition and Metabolism stated in one study that more omega 6 acids make more inflammation. Such foods are salad dressings, grapeseed and safflower oil, peanut, soy. Do not remove the omega 6 fully, it is still needed but in moderation. Eat more omega 3 acids of olive oil, flaxseed, nuts and pumpkin seeds. GRAINS AND REFINED FLOUR. Due to high glycemic index they trigger more AGEs and inflammation. Nutrients study published that daily eating wheat items and grain cereals can develop autoimmune diseases chronically. Such grains have little B vitamin and have empty calories. Eating them daily means more risk of diseases like heart issues, diabetes and even cancer. Replace the pasta, white flour, white rice, white bread with coconut/almond/whole grain/brown rice. EGGS. Eating them regularly means more pain and swelling in joints. The yolk in the egg makes inflammation since it has arachidonic acid that makes prostaglandins (causers of inflammation). They also have saturated fats, harmful too. For breakfast, at least remove the yolk and have just the whites. WHEY PROTEINS. The casein and gluten make the inflammation serious. The casein makes uric acid inside us. Too much of this acid inflames the joints and other parts too. This is called gout and can be serious up to the point of damage to the joints. Those sensitive to gluten foods can have chronic problem with this. A study of the Journal Nutrition Biochemistry, 2013, was said gluten free foods aid in inflammation reducing, adiposity and insulin resistance. Opt for the healthy options like lean proteins (beans, seeds, nuts) and less whey. REFINED SALT. This is the table salt we use daily. It is full of additives and chemicals that impair fluid balance inside us. Also, this salt has no natural minerals like phosphorus or silicon. Limit this salt use and you will keep all the calcium needed for healthy bones, against fractures or osteoporosis even. Eat it in minimal doses or buy Himalayan pink salt or sea salt. Also, avoid junk food – it is too salty. MONOSODIUM GLUTAMATE FOODS. The MSG additive makes better flavor in store bought foods like frozen snacks, chips, frozen dinner, Chinese food, salad dressing and soups. It is especially bad for those with rheumatoid arthritis. Eat fresh and natural, homemade foods. Avoid the aspartame foods too, like artificial sweeteners. BEER. Too much alcohol impacts the joints first. Those having beer often and too much, have worse joint health. the purines of it turn to uric acid and this inflames the joints. Beer also has gluten in it and those with fragile joints must avoid it all the time.

Is Coffee Bad for You?

05:11
For more info: https://draxe.com/coffee-nutrition-facts/?utm_campaign=Youtube-Jan-2015&utm_medium=social&utm_source=youtube&utm_term=coffee One of the most common questions I’ve been getting recently is, “Is coffee bad for you?” The answer is, yes … and no. Coffee is beneficial because it contains massive amounts of antioxidants, which help slow the aging process and protect you from free radical damage. Coffee also helps stimulate the liver and increases circulation, helping blood flow to the brain. Coffee can be harmful in some ways because of the amount of caffeine it contains. The caffeine in coffee can overstimulate the body, burn out your adrenal glands, and overtax your body. About 80% of people in the world will struggle with thyroid problems or fatigue issues. For this group, I wouldn’t recommend coffee because it will burn out your adrenal glands. However, if you’re generally healthy, then drinking coffee in moderate amounts can be fine, and even good for your health. I wouldn’t recommend drinking coffee past lunch time because it can affect your sleep cycle that night. Depending on the condition of your body, if you’re suffering from an autoimmune disease, coffee can make your disease worse. If you’re pretty healthy, looking for a pick-me-up, or looking for more antioxidants, then coffee can provide you these benefits. When picking out your coffee beans, I would recommend choosing all natural, organic coffee because it’s one of the most highly sprayed plants in the world. Lastly, if you’re looking for a great substitute for coffee, I would suggest drinking matcha green tea because it has great benefits and one-third the amount of caffeine. *This content is strictly the opinion of Dr. Josh Axe, and is for informational and educational purposes only. Alcohol and Gastritis: Symptoms, Causes, Diet, & Treatment How to

02:24
Alcohol and Gastritis: Symptoms, Causes, Diet, & Treatment How to What is Gastritis? http://alcoholmastery.com/alcohol-and-gastritis-symptoms-causes-diet-treatment-how-to/ Although gastritis can be caused by a variety of different things, the main focus of this article is alcohol and gastritis. Gastritis is an inflammation of the stomach lining. One of the main causes is over-drinking. It usually occurs because the stomach lining is not getting a break from alcohol. What are the Symptoms of Gastritis? The most frequent symptoms of gastritis include: Heartburn Indigestion Upper abdominal pain Loss of appetite Dark stools Hiccups Nausea Diarrhea Vomiting Unexplained weight loss Treatment for Gastritis Avoiding alcohol, tobacco, coffee and other acidic drinks may help prevent the condition or treat it once you suffer from it. Another method of treatment is diet change. You should eat a variety of vegetables, fruits, whole grains, and low fat dairy. Always choose lean meats and fish. Avoid fat rich dairy, highly seasoned foods, peppers, garlic, onions, chilies, and tomato products. Outlook Once the underlying causes are addressed, the outlook is good with the symptoms disappearing very quickly and the gastritis clearing up. If no treatment is sought, or if the treatment doesn’t work, there is a risk of the condition becoming chronic. Chronic gastritis increases risks for other conditions such as cancer. Liver damage is serious and can even be fatal, so it's important to recognize what the symptoms are as soon as possible. Generally speaking, there are often no early signs of liver damage. The liver is a remarkable organ that can continue to function even though it has suffered significant harm from any number of biological or chemical threats and diseases. It can literally take years before any symptoms of liver damage present themselves. When liver damage symptoms do begin to appear, however, they usually include one or more of the following: abdomen pain in the upper right part of the stomach abdominal distention, caused by a condition called ascites, which is the buildup of fluid in the abdominal cavity darkened urine depression, malaise, or a vague feeling of illness diarrhea fatigue and listlessness generalized itching hypoglycemia or low blood sugar jaundice, which is apparent in a yellowing of the skin. Jaundice is often the result of cholestasis, which is the blockage or stoppage of bile flow. Jaundice is often the first symptom of liver damage. light-colored stools loss of appetite lowered of sex drive low grade fever muscular pain and aches nausea unusual weight loss or weight gain varicose veins (enlarged blood vessels) vomiting Sleeplessness, confusion and mental disorientation are symptoms of severe liver problems. The patient may even go into a coma Although liver damage may be caused by physical trauma, such as a severe blow to the body, it more often occurs gradually as a result of liver disease or some other form of liver disorder. These typically include hepatitis B, hepatitis C, over indulgence in alcohol, cirrhosis, poor diet and nutritional habits drug abuse, including an overdose of acetaminophen and reactions to certain prescription medications. Certain foods can cause liver damage, especially poisonous mushrooms. Alcohol abuse is, of course, one of the most prevalent causes of liver damage around the world. And even overuse of certain over-the-counter drugs may harm the liver. And then there are illegal drugs that can be especially devastating. Once again, the liver is an extremely efficient, sturdy and resilient organ, liver damage symptoms may not begin to appear as soon as damage begins.

This Is What Happens When You Drink a Coffee on an Empty Stomach

03:06
You might think drinking coffee in the morning is a great idea. You may even think it’s a great way to get yourself going in the morning. But you’d be surprised to learn that drinking coffee first thing in the morning- especially on an empty stomach- is a terrible idea. Why? Let’s take a look at a few reasons. 1. Stomach Acid Your stomach has hydrochloric acid, which, at the right level, helps your body digest food properly. When your stomach is empty, this acid doesn’t have much to work with, so it can slosh around and hurt your stomach. Drinking a cup of coffee on that empty stomach adds to the problem by putting more acid in your body. Always having too much stomach acid will harm your stomach and digestive tract, leading to problems like heartburn, irritable bowel syndrome, and stomach ulcers. 2. Bad Digestion Having caffeine on an empty stomach ruins digestion, leading to a bloated feeling and other signs of irritable bowel syndrome, like pain and irregularity. How? Caffeine acts like your adrenal glands, which create stress hormones called cortisol and adrenaline. When these hormones flood your body, they raise your heart rate and blood pressure, and your liver starts letting out blood sugar to give energy to muscles so that you can run away. Your digestive system also shuts down to send energy to where it is needed most. 3. Anxiety When you go through your morning on an empty stomach, you lower your brain’s power to properly break down serotonin. Serotonin is the “happy, calm hormone”. When your brain is unable to break down this hormone properly, it causes anxiety and depression. Throwing a cup of coffee on top of that empty stomach causes anxiety by boosting your body’s cortisol and adrenaline levels. That will leave you feeling shaky, nervous, and weak. 4. Dehydration Drinking coffee on empty stomach raises the amount of fluid that your body passes, and can cause dehydration. If you’re like most people, you’ll likely answer to that dehydration by reaching for yet another cup of coffee, making things even worse for yourself. 5. Low Levels of Serotonin Very few people know about this, but coffee will make you feel less hungry. People who drink coffee right away in the morning sometimes end up skipping breakfast. Skipping your first meal of the day can ruin your body’s power to make serotonin, a neurotransmitter in charge of making you feel happy and calm. Also, serotonin is very important for a good night’s sleep. Your body changes serotonin into melatonin at night. Low levels of melatonin usually lead to insomnia problems. If you like drinking coffee, make sure to always have it after breakfast. 8 Foods that Are Actually Damaging Your Kidneys

05:34
Have you ever noticed that final powerful spray of water at the carwash before your vehicle gets a rapid blow dry? The water jets pulverize any remaining remnants of dirt. That’s one way to view how our kidneys work. Their job is to flush out toxins from the blood by way of urine. The National Institutes of Health reports that our kidneys filter an excess of 200 quarts of blood daily. That translates into 2 quarts of waste each day. They don’t get holidays or weekends off; they work day and night. Thankfully, our kidneys can wash away impurities while retaining vital nutrients floating around in our blood. Keeping our internal filters healthy and functioning properly is invaluable for nourishment and detoxification of our bodies. So naturally, whatever we eat and drink has a dramatic impact on our kidneys’ health. A steady diet of unhealthy food and drinks can strain their performance, and put us at risk. The good news is, it’s never too late to improve your diet and lifestyle, even if your kidneys are already impaired. In today’s video we will see how our kidneys react to too much consumption of 8 different foods and beverages. 1. Red meat We’ve all heard that protein is good for our health. But too much of anything can be harmful. For example, a diet that is high in red meat, which contains lots of animal protein, can damage our kidneys. The reason? Our kidneys need to metabolism this protein. When there’s a conveyor belt of rich protein headed toward the kidneys for cleansing, they just can’t keep up with the pace. When kidneys can’t eliminate waste products, there will be a build-up of acidic residue in our body. It’s always good to talk to your health care professional about the diet that’s right for you. 2. Alcohol Just like eating too much red meat can strain our kidneys, the same is true with too much alcohol; they will be unable to properly filter our blood. Also, too much alcohol can cause dehydration. This creates a domino effect: if our blood is dehydrated, our cells and organs will not be able to function properly. 3. Table Salt While our bodies require sodium to maintain proper fluid balance – especially in our electrolytes - an excess amount will cause kidneys to retain water. Too much salt can also increase the amount of protein that is eliminated in urine. 4. Caffeine Caffeine is a stimulant which millions of people depend upon every morning to help them become fully awake. But all of that caffeine in coffee, tea and sodas can jolt your kidneys into overdrive. The stimulant accelerates blood flow, which in turn increases blood pressure. Caffeine has another effect – it can lead to dehydration, just as salt can. Too much dehydration can lead to kidney stones. Most health experts recommend you drink no more than 2 cups of coffee or 3 cups of tea daily. Soda and energy drinks are beverages you may want to eliminate completely. Another source of caffeine is cocoa, which should also be consumed moderately. 5. Artificial Sweeteners Refined sugar has had a bad rap lately. That’s why companies began creating artificial sweeteners. It may sound better for our health, but they can still negatively impact kidney function. Try instead to steer away from artificial sweeteners and use stevia or honey to flavor your food and beverages. 6. Dairy Products While dairy products are an excellent source of protein, they should be consumed in moderation, especially for anyone who has kidney disease. The reason? Too many dairy products will increase calcium in urine which can lead to kidney stones. Also, as kidneys are overworked, they won’t be able to regulate protein waste and it will rise to an unhealthy level. 7. Carbonated Beverages Sodas and energy drinks are usually the chief instigator for kidney problems; they are loaded with caffeine, sugar or artificial sweeteners. They may taste better than thirst-quenching water or lemon water but they aren’t providing any health benefits for your kidneys. 8. Genetically Modified Foods (GMOs) In recent years, crops have been the recipient of various forms of herbicides and pesticides. This includes everything from strawberries to rice. These chemical alterations can create even more problems for those who are already suffering from some type of kidney ailment. ----------------------------------------------------- Disclaimer: The materials and the information contained on Natural Cures channel are provided for general and educational purposes only and do not constitute any legal, medical or other professional advice on any subject matter. Is the Pain in My Liver a Sign of Alcoholic Liver Disease?

06:36
Your liver is the largest internal organ in your body, it’s about the same size as a football, and is located on the right hand side under the ribcage Purpose: 99% of nutrients we consume pass through the liver... Security, Breakdown Assistance, and Fuel The liver is part of your body’s critical security system, it’s one of the main components in the breakdown of the raw materials coming in through your gob, and it’s part of the power producing system that keeps you moving like an all-star athlete…well, at least it keeps you moving! The Secret Service Think about the liver as part of your body's personal secret service, continuously on the lookout for evil threats that it can destroy with one swift movement (whilst speaking inconspicuously into a really visible earpiece!) Your secret service removes all the toxins - that's including toxins from drugs and alcohol...It deals with some of the chemicals by disarming them and beating them up until they’ve been turned into less harmful toxins... or it will immobilize them by covering them in a chemical film before shipping them out of the body and straight down the toilet. The Breakdown All the food that goes into your body must be broken down into different chemicals before the body can use it. Bile, which is a nasty looking greeny-yellowy, bitter tasting liquid gunk that wouldn't be out of place in a festering swamp, is an essential gunk that's full of helpful chemicals, is produced in the liver, and is absolutely crucial in the digestive processes that take place in your small intestines.... Once this breakdown is completed, the resulting nutrients are fed back into the liver through the blood. The liver then filters the crap out of it, kicking the poisons out and allowing all the goodness to be absorbed and used at your body’s leisure. The Fuel System The liver also breaks down carbohydrates into glucose, the main fuel source of your whole system. If you don't need much fuel at the moment, the good old liver just stores it away for later use, labelled Glycogen... Your bloodstream only holds enough energy for about ten minutes worth of activity, so when you need to run away very fast from an athletic and hungry looking sabre-toothed tiger, your liver is there for you pal. It releases the glycogen as glucose aka rocket fuel into your system and bam....your running like a greyhound after a hare with a pack of sausages tied to its head.... [In the modern world, the equivalent of the sabre-toothed tiger might be a surging crowd, converging on the hot dog stand at half time during the London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur; you need to get there before the queue builds to critical levels!] So, Let's Get the Morose Stuff Outa the Way I'm not going to go too deeply into the damage that alcohol can cause to the liver; I’ll save that for a later series of articles! There are three different levels of liver damage. We'll start with the first level, the one that almost all heavy drinkers have already, that's fatty liver damage.... Fatty liver damage occurs where your liver cells get fat...they store more fat than usual...It’s a bit like your Body Mass Index (BMI)...the more fat you have in your body as a whole, the more unhealthy you are likely to be. If the makeup of your liver is more than 5% – 10% fat, you have a problem… The second damage that can be caused to the liver is a progression of the fatty liver into hepatitis. Hepatitis is when your liver starts to swell...this inflammation will vary in intensity and danger... With a mild case, you might not feel a thing… the only way any damage can be detected is if you've had a blood sample tested... You will, however, feel the symptoms in a more severe case, ranging from nausea and vomiting, your skin turning yellow, or perhaps some weight loss... Please Take Notice and Be Afraid! A severe case of hepatitis of the liver can result in very serious internal problems, coma, or complete and irreversible liver failure... The consequence of liver failure is death...within 3 to 4 days...unless you are lucky enough to be on the receiving end of a transplant… If you don't die and you keep on drinking you may get cirrhosis.... One in ten people who consistently drink large amounts of alcohol will develop cirrhosis of the liver.... Can You Be Repaired? Here’s the good news… Your liver can completely regenerate itself under the right circumstances; in fact it is the only organ in your body that is able to do this... It's imperative if you feel any sort of recurring abdominal pain that you see a doctor straight away. If you don't seek out medical attention, you are risking escalating this serious condition until it's beyond any of the regeneration skills that your liver may possess.... Again, I have to state that I am not a doctor or any other type of trained medical person.

Glutathione Detox: The Science of Glutathione and Alcohol – Thomas DeLauer

09:57
Glutathione Detox: The Science of Glutathione and Alcohol – Thomas DeLauer… Your body can have its own glutathione detox! Glutathione and Alcohol is a huge question, how does it actually work? More at http://www.thomasdelauer.com What is Glutathione? Glutathione (GSH) is a peptide made up of three amino acids - glutamic acid, cysteine and glycine. GSH is produced by every cell in our bodies. It is an antioxidant that works within cells. Aerobic cells in our body require oxygen. During the cellular processes that occur, ROS (reactive oxygen species) occur. When cells are injured even more ROS will be produced. ROS are not always bad. They are necessary for cell survival, but when there are too many produced it can lead to cell damage and death. When the levels of ROS raise, our bodies work to balance this out and regain homeostasis through the production of antioxidants, such as GSH. GSH: -Protects against oxidative damage and environmental toxins -Disposes peroxides (natural bleaching agents that cause harm in the body) -Participates in metabolic processes -Maintains intracellular health -Boosts immune system Due to its properties, GSH: -Protects brain health -Protects liver and other organs from damage -May protect against many other diseases due to cell damage, including Alzheimer’s, cancers and AIDs It has been found that most patients in the hospitals for conditions such as cancer and AIDs have depleted GSH levels. So what are the ways that we understand presently that GSH benefits our health? Brain Health: The cells of the brain make up 2% of our body weight while consuming 20% of the oxygen used in the body. The makes brain cells particularly at risk to oxidative damage. GSH is important in the detoxification processes of reactive oxygen species in the brain. Under normal conditions GSH synthesis is determined by cysteine availability and the activity of an enzyme called GCL (glutamate-cysteine ligase). Cysteine comes from the diet, protein breakdown and the liver. The amount of GSH present in the brain is dependent upon how much of the precursors are present. Different kinds of brain cells require different precursors. Liver: Helps the liver remove chemicals, such as drugs and environmental toxins. Glutathione is produced by the liver in response to alcohol consumption. When alcohol comes into contact with enzymes in your mouth, Acetaldehyde forms. Acetaldehyde is extremely toxic. When the remainder of the alcohol reaches your liver, it is processed into Acetaldehyde and your liver produces glutathione, which attacks the acetaldehyde to form a non-toxic substance similar to vinegar. Cancer: Oxidative stress can lead to cancer, and GSH can help protect against oxidative stress. This is how GSH can help to protect your body from cancer. There is an instance where medical professionals may desire to reduce the GSH in your cells, and that is when fighting cancer cells with chemotherapy. High GSH levels in tumor cells can make them difficult to fight. There is other evidence that GSH supplementation may help to reduce chemotherapy side effects and thus make it more effective, so this is currently under debate. How to Get Enough GSH: While studies have shown that elevated GSH levels can benefit health, exactly how to boost these levels is still debated. Supplements have not been proven to be an effective way to boost cellular GSH. Intravenous GSH was shown in one study to boost the survival rates and decrease the side effects from chemotherapy in women with ovarian cancer. It is likely that taking precursor supplements of cysteine may boost GSH levels. A balanced diet is the key to healthy GSH levels - fresh fruits, veggies and meats. 2 supplements that help boost GSH levels are: -Milk thistle -Whey protein References: 1. Drink One Glass Of Beet Juice Daily And This Will Happen To Your Body

03:23
Follow us on Twitter: @foods4health1 Recipes4Health: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2bZhXBHIb51n1fE3VWPmcQ/videos To learn more about the health benefits of food, visit: http://www.benefitsoffood.blogspot.com Beets are an incredibly healthy food that offer a number of important health benefits for us. They contain many different types of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, nutrients and fibre. Importantly, when juiced, this allows us to more easily consume beets in great quantities and makes it possible to obtain these great benefits. Lets discuss some health benefits associated with drinking beet juice consistently. 1. First, beet juice can help to lower blood pressure. This is because it contains healthy naturally occurring nitrates. Although most vegetables contain nitrates, an averaged sized beet contains about 20 times more dietary nitrates then these other vegetables. This helps with nitric oxide production. When consumed regularly, beet juice can help to lower systolic pressure as well as reduce arterial stiffness. 2. Beet juice is also great for eliminating inflammation in the body. Beets contain a very powerful nutrient known as betaine. This nutrient can help to protect proteins, cells and enzymes from environmental stress. This helps to reduce inflammation while also protecting important bodily organs and reduce vascular risk factors. This can lead to even more cardiovascular benefits. 3. Drinking beet juice consistently can also protect us from premature aging a number of different ways. Beets are packed with skin healthy antioxidants. These antioxidants work to protect the skin by neutralizing free radicals in the body. As well, beet juice contains lycopene, which helps to keep the skins elasticity and protect it from sun damage. 4. Beet juice will also help to detoxify our entire bodies. It is a very effective detox drink for our liver, since it can help to remove unwanted toxins as well as stimulate liver cells. This is contributed to methionine and glycine betaine which work to keep fatty acids from building up. 5. Beet juice can also help to boost energy, especially those individuals who work out or exercise consistently. Studies have shown that for those individuals who drank beet juice before working out, they were able to have better and longer workouts. This is contributed to the naturally occurring nitrates found in beets. Even if you are not working out, the numerous vitamins, minerals and nutrients in beets can help with boosting energy through out the day. 6. Since beet juice contains an great amount of soluble fibre, drinking it can help those individuals who suffer with blood sugar issues. Beet juice can actually help to lower the amount of glucose in the blood. 7. Lastly, beet juice can also help improve digestion by stimulating the intestines and breakdown food, may help reduce pain associated with arthritis and may even help improve eyesight. Try to consume beet juice daily to obtain these benefits. One to two cups of beet juice is often recommended as a daily dosage, but be sure to discuss with your medical practitioner the correct dosage for you. You can simply drink the juice from 1 large peeled organic beet, or add it into your favourite juice and smoothie recipes. Thank you for watching the video! Please like, comment and share. Here Is What Happens If You Eat Honey And Cinnamon Daily

03:18
For more than twenty years, health experts have been thinking about the power of two of the oldest cooking ingredients. It turns out that not only do cinnamon and honey taste great together, mixing the two of them together is also a medicinal wonder. Cinnamon has been used by Chinese and Ayurvedic folk medicine for over 2,000 years, and honey also has a rich history. Cinnamon has been shown to be very helpful in treating digestive disorders, menstrual pain, and joint pain because it has a lot of cinnamaldehyde, the molecular compound that brings down swelling, and gives cinnamon its taste and smell. Honey is also known for bringing down swelling, and is full of nutrients like amino acids, vitamins C and B6, calcium, magnesium, phosphorous, potassium, and zinc. The reason these two foods are so great for the body is mainly because they can control swelling, fight free radicals, and boost the immune system. Here are the top uses for honey and cinnamon. 1. Arthritis In the ancient world, Ayurvedic doctors used a paste made from honey and cinnamon to treat arthritis. Today, we understand that this works because of cinnamaldehyde in cinnamon and ingredients like potassium in honey, which come together to treat the swelling and things the body’s missing that cause arthritis. Mix two tablespoons of raw honey with one tablespoon of powdered cinnamon. Put this on the hurt area, and rub it into your skin. You can also mix honey and cinnamon into a cup of warm water and drink it all the time to treat arthritis. 2. Allergies A honey and cinnamon mixture can help those with allergies that are not life- threatening. Both honey and cinnamon boost the immune system and guard it from bacteria and viruses. Honey and cinnamon also soothe pain from swelling and congestion that can come from certain allergies. For this help, you should drink a mixture of honey, cinnamon, and warm water all the time. 3. Cardiovascular Disease Some nursing homes in North America have tested using cinnamon and honey to help block heart disease. They agree that the mixture helps the flexibility and strength of arteries. Eating cinnamon and honey all the time, when put together with a healthy diet and normal activity level, can stop heart disease by clearing blocked arteries. 4. Diabetes Studies have shown that both cinnamon and honey lower blood sugar levels. Honey also lowers the level of bad LDL cholesterol and raises good HDL cholesterol. This is great because diabetics are usually at a higher risk of cholesterol problems. 5. The Common Cold In one study, they found that cinnamon lessens the growth of different bacteria that cause the common cold. When you mix this with honey, which boosts the immune system, it is great for stopping colds. So, when cinnamon is mixed with raw honey, many people never get sick at all. Or, if they get sick with the common cold, they get better very quickly! Is Coke Zero Good For Diabetes

03:18
Is Coke Zero Good or Bad For Diabetes? Download Diabetes Management Book: https://www.thediabetescouncil.com/free-diabetes-guides/index.html One of the first fears I had when I was diagnosed with diabetes was that I was going to have to give up soft drinks, pop, soda, whatever you call it where you live. The reason being I was told when I was younger that diet soda caused cancer or you might grow a second head or something. I loved my soft drinks, so I was in kind of a panic. So I set out to find out the real scoop on diet soda, and in particular, Coke Zero, one of my favorites. MYTH - 1 Coke Zero will cause cancer Coke Zero or any other diet soft drink has been linked to cancer thanks to a study conducted by Morando Soffritti. Soffritti used lab rats to test the effects on aspartame utraSweet long term. His conclusion was that aspartame played a significant role as a carcinogen. The problem with his methodology was that Soffritti gave the rats more aspartame than a human could possibly ingest in a life time. Several studies have been conducted since and have found no link whatsoever between aspartame and cancer. As far as Coke Zero is concerned it does use aspartame but not in the concentrations that some other diet sodas use. It also uses Splenda as an artificial sweetener. MYTH - 2 Diet soda is harmless. Because there are no calories, sugars or carbs in diet soda, many people think it is harmless. But there is a higher concentration of acid in diet drinks. As a matter of fact, diet drinks are much more acid than “regular” soda. This can lead to acid reflux and premature tooth decay. MYTH - 3 I can lose a lot of weight by drinking Coke Zero. While Coke Zero and many other diet drinks have no calories or sugars, they also have no nutritional value either. There have actually been studies that link massive consumption of diet soda to weight gain and even diabetes! Is Coke Zero, or any diet soda good for the diabetic? Like with anything else, a diet drink in moderation is fine for the diabetic who needs that sparkly fizz now and then. But it is also a good idea to substitute a few of those Coke Zeros for glasses of water. Coke Zero won’t give you brain cancer or cause you to grow a second head, but it also not the ideal thirst quencher for those with diabetes. I hope this answered your question is Coke Zero good or bad for diabetes. Causes of Dry Throat - Dr. Sreenivasa Murthy T M

03:43
Dry throat is a symptom with which patients can present for a mistaken meaning other symptoms, they will not be able to tell us what exactly their feeling and hence the cell is a dry throat. When somebody says their throat is dry means they become thirsty, they want to drink water to get some relief. Patients say that they have dry throat but they can actually be having an infection in the throat like pharyngitis, it'll be sore. Some patients will have reflux disease which will be causing some soreness in the throat. Our throats lubricated by secretions, these are produced either in the nose in the form of mucus which can Trickle down constantly from the nose and sinuses into the stomach, which happens in every normal human being to the extent of between 1 to 1.5 litres per day and similar amount of saliva which is produce in the oral cavity from the salivary gland, which we tend to swallow when we speak or eat. So that both these Fluids tend to lubricate mouth, tongue, the back portion of throat and the throat in the hole. Now whenever there is a discrepancy or some sort of arrangement in production of the Fluids or the drying up off the fluids then you can have a dry throat. Supposing you have a nasal obstructions, you have a cold or your nose get blocked very frequently, then without your knowledge you'll be actually breathing through the mouth. Now when dry air goes through the mouth it tends to dry of saliva more quickly than nasal secretions which causes dry throat. So dry throat means an indirect evidence of nasal obstruction, you might be having dry throat in the night mean that you are you might be a snower, you might be an obligatory mouth breather and will be snoring and hence you can have dry throat. You can also have dry throat especially in the elderly people who are on multiple medications, many of the medications have Side Effects, drugs which are like amitriptyline which is a tricyclic antidepressant or people who are hypertensive can have dry throat. Very rarely you pick up personally diabetic patient because the present with dry throat and say my throat gets very dry and I need to drink water very frequently and I also pass urine very frequently, this can be a very unusual presentation but they can be picked up.

REDUCE YOUR ALCOHOL INTAKE: Health Effects of Alcohol: Be Your Own Doctor: Day 9

02:56
Alcohol is highly addictive! The problem is once you become dependent, you may not be able to stop even if it's killing you! You will, helplessly, prefer drinking to living! It affects virtually all the organs of the body thereby increasing the risk for liver damage, stroke, hypertension, cancers, impotence/infertility, abnormalities and birth defects (if a pregnant mother consumes it), etc. It affects the mind, emotion, and will,  therefore, it could lead to difficulty in relationship with others, domestic violence, broken homes, challenges in workplace, academic problems, poor religious commitment, sleep problem, sex issues, accidents, depression, outbursts of anger, etc. Loosening the grip of alcohol on your life and health may be a long, gradual process with failures that may make you feel powerless and weak-willed, but, never give up! Admit that you have a problem with alcohol and that you need help.  List the benefits/advantages of stopping, and make a commitment to stop drinking. Avoid and get rid of every source of temptations. Find new ways of thinking and living. Prepare for alcohol urges, cravings, and triggers. You may most likely need the assistance of a psychiatrist or your religious leader. Partner With Me! ONE alcoholic drink every day could cause THIS dangerous heart condition

03:44
DRINKING just one glass of wine or pint of beer a day can increase the risk of developing an irregular heartbeat. Scientists have suggested suggested long-term alcohol consumption - even as little as one drink a day - may enlarge part of the heart. Known as atrial fibrillation or arrhythmia, the condition sees the heart beat irregularly and fail to properly pump blood. The condition may indicate serious underlying heart disease and some can lead to serious problems such as loss of consciousness, stroke and sudden cardiac death. Previous research has shown associations between drinking alcohol and 'ventricular cardiomyopathy' - where the heart has trouble pumping and delivering blood to the rest of the body. Dr Gregory Marcus, senior study author and an associate professor of medicine at the University of California, San Francisco, said: "Our study provides the first human evidence of why daily, long-term alcohol consumption may lead to the development of this very common heart rhythm disturbance. "We were somewhat surprised that a relatively small amount of alcohol was associated with a larger left atrium and subsequent atrial fibrillation." Researchers analysed figures from 5,220 participants from the Framingham Heart Study, an ongoing national research project in the United States. The participants, who had an average age of 56, underwent electrocardiograms to measure electrical activity of the heart. Of 17,659 scans taken over six years, researchers detected 1,088 incidences of atrial fibrillation. They also found that chronic alcohol consumption was also associated with higher risk for incident atrial fibrillation. Every 10 grams per day of alcohol, the equivalent of one drink a day, consumed was associated with a five per cent higher risk of developing atrial fibrillation. Every additional 10 grams of alcohol a day was linked to a 0.16 millimetre larger left atrium. The findings also showed that around 24 per cent, and up to 75 per cent, of the relationship between regular alcohol consumption and atrial fibrillation risk could be traced back to enlargement of the left atria. Researchers said the relationship between atrial fibrillation and alcohol consumption remained even after considering other heart health risk factors, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, or smoking. They said the observational findings do not suggest that drinking alcohol directly causes heart problems. But they added that their findings question the popular belief that alcohol benefits the heart. Dr Marcus said: "Our data suggest atrial fibrillation might be prevented by avoiding alcohol - however, just as alcohol likely has variable effects on individuals, there are almost certainly various mechanistic subtypes of atrial fibrillation.
