Imagine someone stumbling onto the site when the new video-of-the-day is about how some spice can be effective in treating a particular form of arthritis. It would be easy to miss the forest for the trees. That’s why I created this new series of overview videos, which are basically taken straight from my hour-long live 2016 presentation How Not to Die: Preventing, Arresting, and Reversing Our Top 15 Killers (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/how-not-to-die). High Blood Pressure May Be a Choice

Eating a diet low enough in sodium (salt) can prevent the rise in hypertension risk as we age. Subscribe to Dr. Greger’s free nutrition newsletter at https://www.nutritionfacts.org/subscribe and get a free recipe from his new HOW NOT TO DIE COOKBOOK. (All proceeds Dr. Greger receives from the sales of his books, DVDs, and speaking engagements go to support the 501c3 nonprofit that runs NutritionFacts.org.) I’ve badly neglected sodium on NutritionFacts.org, but that’s all going to change. I have about a dozen salt videos queued up that dive deep into the existing controversies. It’s such an enormous topic that it was a bit intimidating at first. There are more than 8,000 (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed?term=%22Sodium%2C+Dietary%22%5BMesh%5D) articles on the topic in the medical literature, but that’s what you have me for! If you appreciate my efforts please consider becoming a regular supporter by clicking on the donate (https://nutritionfacts.org/donate/) button above. For more on Kempner and his rice diet, see: • Kempner Rice Diet: Whipping Us Into Shape (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/kempner-rice-diet-whipping-us-into-shape/) • Drugs and the Demise of the Rice Diet (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/drugs-and-the-demise-of-the-rice-diet/) • Can Diabetic Retinopathy Be Reversed? (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/can-diabetic-retinopathy-be-reversed/) Canned foods are infamous for their sodium content, but there are no-salt varieties (Canned Beans or Cooked Beans? http://nutritionfacts.org/video/canned-beans-or-cooked-beans/). Cutting down on sodium is one of the ways we could be Improving on the Mediterranean Diet (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/improving-on-the-mediterranean-diet/). Beyond heart health it could also help our kidneys (How to Treat Kidney Stones with Diet http://nutritionfacts.org/video/how-to-treat-kidney-stones-with-diet/). But if you cut down on salt, won’t everything taste like cardboard? See Changing Our Taste Buds (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/changing-our-taste-buds/). More on hypertension in How to Prevent High Blood Pressure with Diet (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/how-to-prevent-high-blood-pressure-with-diet/) and How to Treat High Blood Pressure with Diet (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/how-to-treat-high-blood-pressure-with-diet/). What if you already eat healthy and still can’t get your pressures down? Try adding hibiscus tea (Hibiscus Tea vs. Plant-Based Diets for Hypertension http://nutritionfacts.org/video/hibiscus-tea-vs-plant-based-diets-for-hypertension/) and ground flax seeds (Flax Seeds for Hypertension http://nutritionfacts.org/video/flax-seeds-for-hypertension/) to your diet. 🌽 #1 Food That Causes High Blood Pressure

How I Lowered My Dad’s Blood Pressure In Just A Few days - NO Drugs or Diets: 👉 http://drsam.co/yt/LowerBPNow 5 Best Foods For Lowering Your Blood Pressure, Naturally: 👉 http://drsam.co/yt/FoodsLoweringBP Or you can watch this video: http://drsam.co/yt/SurprisingHBPFacts And the clinical studies can be seen here: 1. http://www.cdc.gov/bloodpressure/facts.htm 2. http://openheart.bmj.com/content/1/1/e000167 3. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2005/06/14/calories-america.aspx ======================================= 🌽 #1 Food That Causes High Blood Pressure ======================================= If you didn’t already know, at least ⅓ of US adults have high blood pressure. And having hypertension is one of the leading causes of a heart attack or stroke.(1) Now, there are lots of ways to naturally lower your blood pressure and under this video, in the description area, I’ve listed some of my favorites. However, don’t go there yet because most people, including doctors, mistakenly consume less salt to lower blood pressure. However, low-salt diets typically don’t make much of a difference. What does make a big difference is lowering sugar in your diet and more specifically, “high fructose corn syrup” In a recent study in the journal Open Heart (2), the authors write: “Evidence from epidemiological studies and experimental trials in animals and humans suggests that added sugars, particularly fructose, may increase blood pressure and blood pressure variability, increase heart rate and myocardial oxygen demand, and contribute to inflammation, insulin resistance and broader metabolic dysfunction. Thus, while there is no argument that recommendations to reduce consumption of processed foods are highly appropriate and advisable, the arguments in this review are that the benefits of such recommendations have less to do with sodium—minimally related to blood pressure and perhaps even inversely related to cardiovascular risk—and more to do with highly-refined carbohydrates and sugars." The Problem Started In The 1970s Food and beverage manufacturers began switching their sweeteners from sucrose (table sugar) to corn syrup in the 1970s when they discovered that High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS) was far cheaper to use in their products. In fact, HFCS is the #1 source of calories in America!!!( 3) It’s found in almost everything you can think of. More specifically, in sodas and fruit juices. But also in many pre-packaged foods. This also includes “healthy sugars” sweetened with agave. My Proven “Prescription” and Recommendation For You You must do your best to limit and eliminate all HFCS and to do this, make sure you read labels. Again, the LESS pre-packaged the food, the better. Limit your TOTAL fructose to 25 grams or less, that’s about 100 calories daily. This includes the natural fructose found in fruits. If you are already suffering from high blood pressure or signs of insulin resistance like diabetes, overweight and high cholesterol, you should be particularly careful to limit your fructose, including that from whole fruits, to 15 grams per day or less. That’s about 60 calories daily. So there you have it. Focus more on limiting your sugars, this includes fruit sugar, fructose … and especially “high fructose corn syrup” which is found in most pre-packaged foods, especially sodas and fruit juices. Now, I wanted to keep this video short and simple so you have something to implement today and start get results right away. If you want more details on how to lower your blood pressure naturally, under this video I’ve got simple and proven solutions that you can utilize and you do NOT even have to change your diet or exercise. How to Prevent High Blood Pressure with Diet

03:58
High blood pressure, the #1 killer risk factor in the world, may be eliminated with a healthy enough diet. Subscribe to Dr. Greger’s free nutrition newsletter at https://www.nutritionfacts.org/subscribe and get a free recipe from his new HOW NOT TO DIE COOKBOOK. (All proceeds Dr. Greger receives from the sales of his books, DVDs, and speaking engagements go to support the 501c3 nonprofit that runs NutritionFacts.org.) This is a video that’s long overdue. The downside of me just covering whatever pops up in the literature is that some really fundamental topics may not get immediate coverage. Having a “normal” blood pressure may set one up for dying from “normal” causes such as heart attacks and strokes. For more on this concept, see When Low Risk Means High Risk (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/when-low-risk-means-high-risk/). It’s like having a normal cholesterol level. See Optimal Cholesterol Level (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/optimal-cholesterol-level/). So it seems high blood pressure is a choice. Like cavities, or heart disease: Cavities and Coronaries: Our Choice (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/cavities-and-coronaries-our-choice/). Even end-stage malignant hypertension can be reversed with diet (thereby showing it was the diet and not other lifestyle factors that protected traditional plant-based populations). See Kempner Rice Diet: Whipping Us Into Shape (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/Kempner-Rice-Diet-Whipping-Us-Into-Shape). Flax seeds, hibiscus tea, whole grains, and nitrate rich vegetables may offer additional protection: • Flax Seeds for Hypertension (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/flax-seeds-for-hypertension/) • Hibiscus Tea vs. Plant-Based Diets for Hypertension (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/hibiscus-tea-vs-plant-based-diets-for-hypertension/) • Whole Grains May Work As Well As Drugs (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/whole-grains-may-work-as-well-as-drugs/) • Hearts Shouldn’t Skip a Beet (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/hearts-shouldnt-skip-a-beet/) Why not just take the drugs? See The Actual Benefit of Diet vs. Drugs (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/The-Actual-Benefit-of-Diet-vs-Drugs) and Why Prevention is Worth a Ton of Cure (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/Why-Prevention-is-Worth-a-Ton-of-Cure). High Blood Pressure: Prevention & Treatment | Preventative Health Care

01:13:03

What Will Happen If You Start Eating Oats Every Day

10:07
Doctors and nutritionists highly recommend making oatmeal a part of your diet and having it as your healthy morning meal. The secret is simple: good-quality environmentally-friendly oats help you feel and look better on the inside and out. Oats have some unique properties thanks to the wide variety of vitamins and minerals they contain. Zinc helps cleanse the skin and remove toxins and other harmful compounds. Iron is one of the most important elements for the nutrition and saturation of moisture in skin cells. Magnesium promotes blood circulation and noticeable skin cell renewal. While protein is extremely important, your body also demands carbohydrates and fats, both of which you can find in oatmeal. Oats are also rich in antioxidants that help alleviate itching, inflammation, and high blood pressure. The slow carbohydrates found in oatmeal help curb your appetite and maintain normal blood sugar levels. All those nutrients in oats not only boost your metabolism but also prevent the accumulation of fat and toxins in the body. Thanks to the antioxidants present in oatmeal, the probability of damage to the walls of blood vessels by free radicals is reduced significantly. If you find it boring to just have oatmeal for breakfast every day, you’ll love the recipes we have put together to help you turn a boring oatmeal breakfast into something way more flavorful. Music: Mint Chocolate 2a - Vibe Mountain https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music TIMESTAMPS Your skin will look better. 0:51 Your muscles will get much-needed protein. 1:48 You’ll get a boost of antioxidants. 2:31 You'll be full of energy. 3:19 You'll lose weight. 4:19 Your cholesterol will decrease. 5:00 You'll have a lower risk of developing heart disease. 5:40 You'll get rid of digestive problems. 6:00 Oatmeal recipes: Apple pie oatmeal 6:50 Oatmeal raisin cookies 7:43 Almond butter-banana oatmeal 8:55 SUMMARY -Oatmeal is ideal for treating inflammatory conditions, like eczema, dermatitis, and skin rashes. It also promotes healthy skin overall. -One serving, or about half a cup, of oatmeal gives your body 15% of the recommended daily amount of protein. Don’t forget about vitamin E, antioxidants, and glutamine, which help muscle fibers regenerate faster. -Oats are rich in antioxidants that help alleviate itching, inflammation, and high blood pressure. -Oatmeal is full of carbohydrates that give your body the energy it needs. -Beta-glucan in oats keeps you from overeating by helping you feel fuller for a longer amount of time and promoting the release of a satiety hormone. -The linoleic acid and soluble fiber contained in oatmeal helps lower the level of bad cholesterol in the blood. -Oats are rich in good healthy fats and support the cells in the heart and circulatory system. -Experts recommend getting at least 25-38 grams of dietary fiber every day since it’s ideal for good digestion. -Try apple pie oatmeal to boost your metabolism. You’ll need oatmeal, almond milk, cinnamon, maple syrup, a large apple and apple sauce to cook it. -The ingredients you’ll need for oatmeal raisin cookies are flour, sea salt, baking soda, butter, an egg, brown sugar, cinnamon, raisins, apple sauce and fast-cooking oats. -To cook almond butter-banana oatmeal, you’ll need oatmeal, milk, almond butter, honey and a banana. +++ Reducing Eye Pressure With The Right Nutrition

04:03
+++ Reducing Eye Pressure With The Right Nutrition ➤ If you have blood sugar concerns one particular eye health issue relates to a significant increase in pressure in the eyes that can lead to damage to the optic nerve. If this is left untreated it can result in the development of a serious eye disease that is the second leading cause of blindness in America called Glaucoma. Therefore, what are the various causes of this eye condition and what can you do to correct it from a nutritional point of view? One of the effective ways to correct this problem from a nutritional point of view is to identify the foods that are causing an unhealthy increase in eye pressure. Once you have identified such foods you can replace them with healthy eye foods that improve vision health and reduce eye pressure. Poor diet is one of the causes of this particular eye condition. This is due to the fact that certain foods can contribute to this eye problem. High insulin levels in the body can contribute to an increase in eye pressure. There is a relationship between high insulin levels and an increase in your blood pressure levels. Due to the fact that the heart and the eyes are connected this increase in blood pressure can negatively affect pressure levels in the eyes. Here are some food groups that you can avoid: Whole grains, Trans fats and sugary foods. Whole grains should be avoided as carbohydrates are converted into sugars. FOODS THAT INCREASE EYE PRESSURE YOU SHOULD AVOID Some foods you can avoid to correct high eye pressure include breads, pasta, rice, cereal and potatoes. Also, you should avoid sugary foods such as pastries, cakes, pies and donuts. You can also avoid trans-fat foods and foods such as baked goods, processed foods, cookies, French fries and fried chicken and other junk foods. --------------------------------------------------------- ➤Subscribe: https://goo.gl/wRcV0T ➤Special thanks for helping: https://www.google.com/ https://www.youtube.com/ https://www.images.google.com/ http://EzineArticles.com/ .......................................... ❥Join me on social media! ☛Twitter: https://goo.gl/bApJ1L ☛ Google plus: https://goo.gl/uTDuX3 ☛ Tumblr: https://goo.gl/7uXJeR ♦ I hope you enjoy this video. How to Manage High Blood Pressure through Diet

01:38
Watch more Healthy Eating videos: http://www.howcast.com/videos/353493-How-to-Manage-High-Blood-Pressure-through-Diet If you have high blood pressure, you are more than twice as likely to develop heart disease and six times more likely to have a stroke than people with normal blood pressure. Manage your condition through diet. Warning Never change your diet without first consulting your physician. Step 1: Eat less saturated fat Eat less saturated fat. If you are used to eating a diet high in fat, reducing your fat and cholesterol intake will reduce your blood pressure. Step 2: Keep your weight under control Count calories and keep your weight in check. Putting on extra pounds tends to raise blood pressure. Step 3: Eat more produce Eat more produce. Fruits and vegetables contain potassium, a mineral that appears to lower blood pressure. Step 4: Reduce your salt intake Reduce your salt intake if your blood pressure responds to salt in your diet. About 58 percent of people with high blood pressure are salt-sensitive. Tip If you are not sure whether you are salt-sensitive, consult your doctor about trying a low-salt diet to see if your pressure drops. Step 5: Drink in moderation Drink alcohol in moderation. Although studies have shown that one alcoholic drink a day can lower your blood pressure, drinking excessively will raise it. Did You Know? Over the course of an average life span, the human heart beats about 2½ billion times without stopping.

Why You Should Care About Nutrition

Most deaths in the United States are preventable and related to nutrition. Subscribe to Dr. Greger’s free nutrition newsletter at http://www.nutritionfacts.org/subscribe and get a free excerpt from his latest NYT Bestseller HOW NOT TO DIE. (All proceeds Dr. Greger receives from the sales of his books, DVDs, and speaking engagements go to support the 501c3 nonprofit that runs NutritionFacts.org.) This video is part of an experiment to find ways to appeal to those new to the site. So much of what I do is targeted towards those who already know the basics, but in the user survey about a thousand of you filled out a few weeks ago, many of your asked for me to take a step back and do some videos targeted more towards those new to evidence-based nutrition. So with the volunteer help of videographer Grant Peacock (http://www.gpi.tv/) I came up with ten introduction and overview-type videos for both new users to orient themselves, and for long-time users to use to introduce people to the site. If you missed The Story of NutritionFacts.org (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/the-story-of-nutritionfacts-org/) check that out, and stay tuned for: • Taking Personal Responsibility for Your Health (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/taking-personal-responsibility-for-your-health) • The Philosophy of NutritionFacts.org (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/the-philosophy-of-nutritionfacts-org) • Behind the Scenes at NutritionFacts.org (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/behind-the-scenes-at-nutritionfacts-org) • How Not to Die from Heart Disease (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/how-not-to-die-from-heart-disease/) • How Not to Die from Cancer (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/how-not-to-die-from-cancer/) • How Not to Die from Diabetes (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/how-not-to-die-from-diabetes/) • How Not to Die from Kidney Disease (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/how-not-to-die-from-kidney-disease/) • How Not to Die from High Blood Pressure (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/how-not-to-die-from-high-blood-pressure) What we’re going to do is alternate between these broader overview-type videos and the regularly scheduled content so as not to bore those who just crave the latest science. How to INCREASE BLOOD FLOW To BRAIN? 5 WAYS to IMPROVE BRAIN CIRCULATION and Your BRAIN HEALTH

11:36
How to IMPROVE BLOOD CIRCULATION to the BRAIN? Blood circulation is vital for your body's survival. Blood transports oxygen, fuel and nutrients to all organs of the body, including the brain. It also moves toxins and waste products to the appropriate organs for excretion. When blood flow to your brain is disrupted, you can succumb to a stroke. Circulatory System Your circulatory system includes your heart, veins and arteries. Their job is to circulate blood throughout your body. The heart is a muscle and needs to be strong while your arteries and veins should be pliable and without obstructions for you to maintain optimum health. One common cause of poor circulation is high cholesterol levels, which can cause platelet aggregation, or arterial build-up, and lead to heart attack or stroke, depending on where the blockage occurs. Exercise to Strengthen Your Heart Since your heart is a muscle, it needs to be exercised or it can weaken. A cardiovascular workout several times a week can help keep it pumping efficiently. Proper exercising can also negate obesity, which can strain and weaken your entire circulatory system and reduce overall circulation. Yoga is a low-impact exercise that can stretch all your muscles and teach you breathing techniques that can increase blood flow. Because certain exercises can be dangerous to people with underlying health issues, you should speak to your physician before starting any exercise routine. Your Diet The foods you eat can have a huge impact on your circulation. An abundance of saturated fats can lead to blocked arteries. Large amounts of salt can lead to or exacerbate high blood pressure. Processed foods, such as white flour and white sugar, can deny your body the necessary nutrients to run smoothly. To help reduce high cholesterol, the Mayo Clinic suggests eating plenty of soluble fiber found in foods such as oatmeal and apples. Soluble fiber can absorb cholesterol before it gets to the blood stream. Omega-3 fatty acids from fatty fish such as herring or salmon can reduce blood pressure. Olive and canola oils, and nuts can keep arteries healthy and pliable. Alternative Treatments Herbalist Michael Tierra suggests using cardiovascular stimulants such as cayenne, ginger or ginseng to improve circulation. The University of Maryland Medical Center mentions that hawthorn and rosemary can help with poor circulation by providing antioxidants. Herbs such as ephedra and guarana may have stimulant attributes but are considered dangerous, as they can make the heart rate and blood pressure rise rapidly. In 2009, the FDA banned the sale of supplements containing ephedra. Always speak to your physician before adding any herbs or supplements to your diet. What Foods to Eat for a Good Blood Flow? Good blood flow is essential for proper brain function and oxygen transport to vital organs in the body. Because your heart is the pump that keeps your blood circulating, it's important to maintain a strong heart. Eating a diet rich in heart-healthy foods is one way to help ensure that your body experiences efficient blood flow. Foods Containing L-Arginine L-arginine is an amino acid that your body converts to nitric oxide, a substance that helps relax and maintain the elasticity of blood vessels and arteries. Nitric oxide is also a signaling molecule that instructs arteries to dilate, or widen, which allows blood to flow more freely, helping reduce blood pressure and promoting cardiovascular health. According to Don Colbert, author of "The New Bible Cure for High Blood Pressure," good food sources of L-arginine include chicken, fish, soy nuts, beans, dairy and red meat. If you have high blood pressure, talk with your doctor before taking L-arginine supplements to ensure proper dosage for your condition. Vitamin E-Rich Foods Vitamin E, a fat-soluble vitamin, plays an important role in efficient blood flow because it dilates blood vessels. Eating foods rich in vitamin E is a good way to keep your blood moving, according to Sherry Torkos, author of "The Canadian Encyclopedia of Natural Medicine." Good food sources of vitamin E include nuts, seeds, whole grains and leafy green vegetables. If you're taking blood thinners, talk with your doctor before taking vitamin E supplements because they may increase the risk of bleeding. Foods Containing Omega-3 Fatty Acids Omega-3 fatty acids keep your blood flowing. People with blood-circulation problems such as varicose veins, for example, benefit by eating foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids because these unsaturated fatty acids stimulate blood flow and help break down fibrin, or blood clots, according to Shubhangini Joshi, author of "Nutrition and Dietetics." Good food sources of omega-3 fatty acids include nuts, olive oil, canola oil, flax seeds and oily fish such as salmon, tuna, sardines and herring.

In our environment and in our bodies we have free radicals, which are very reactive. This is an atom with an unpaired electron, making it unstable. This can damage our DNA, our mitochondria, our cells. This is called oxidation. An example would be radiation, chemicals, certain metals like free iron, stress and even high blood sugar. On the flip side - we have anti-oxidants, which donate an electron making the atom neutralized. This would be vitamin C, E, A (beta carotene), alpha lipoic acid and basically all the phytonutrients that plants like criciferous give us. Top 10 Alkaline Foods You Should Be Eating Everyday

08:50
Not many people are aware, but the human body functions the best at a pH level that is slightly on the alkaline side. pH levels can range from 0, or completely acidic, to 14, completely alkaline. Ideally, the body’s pH levels should sit around 7.35 to 7.45 in order to function properly. Unfortunately, the majority of people consume a highly processed diet that is high in sugar. This causes the body’s pH to become acidic. Therefore, most of the people walking around today have pH levels that are not stabilized and are acidic. Luckily, the pH in the human body can be restored. Today’s video will discuss ten powerful foods that are consumed on the alkaline diet and can improve one’s health. 1. Spinach Spinach is a powerful vegetable that has many health characteristics, including its alkaline effects. This is largely due to it’s high content of chlorophyll, which causes the spinach to be an alkalizing agent to the body and restore the pH level back to its ideal. 2. Lemons This may be surprising, as lemons are often seen as an acidic fruit. However, they are actually high in alkaline properties. This is because once the citric acid in lemons are metabolized, they provide an alkaline effect on the body. They help to cleanse and detox the body, using essential minerals like calcium and iron. 3. Kale Kale is another powerful green that should be added to a daily diet. It has the ability to stabilize the body’s pH levels, while providing detoxification and antioxidant properties. Kale contains Vitamin A, Vitamin K, Vitamin C, Magnesium, Calcium, Copper, Potassium, Iron, Protein, Phosphorus and Manganese. 4. Avocados Avocados are another one of those foods that are packed with essential vitamins and minerals that help to flush out harmful toxins from the body and help to restore the body’s pH level to its optimum level. By doing so, avocados help the cardiovascular system, the immune system, the circulatory system and the digestive system. 5. Wheatgrass Wheatgrass also helps to detoxify the body. In doing so, it also helps to protect the liver from harmful toxins. Since it contains essential vitamins and minerals, along with ridding the body of toxins that weigh it down, wheatgrass helps to boost energy, lose weight, stabilize blood sugar and fight cancerous cells. 6. Celery Celery is a healthful food that is not given the credit it is deserved. Celery is normally found on every diet’s menu. This is largely because celery is a diuretic, as it helps the body to get rid of any excess fluids. Celery can also neutralize the acid in the body and bring the pH level back to a slightly alkaline level. 7. Broccoli Broccoli is one of the most important foods to eat in order to maintain an alkalized pH levels. That is because broccoli contains phytochemicals that alkalize the body, reduce estrogen dominance and increase estrogen metabolism. Broccoli also contains antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. 8. Cucumbers Cucumbers are another food that have a high water content and help to flush out harmful toxins from the body. They can help to restore the pH level of the body by neutralizing the acids. They also help to reduce any inflammation within the body. 9. Bell Peppers One highly underestimated food is the bell pepper. Not only can the bell pepper help to neutralize the acid in the body and raise the pH level to alkaline, but it can help to reduce anxiety, lower blood pressure, reduce inflammation, and fight cancer. 10. Garlic Like many contained in this list, garlic has so many healthy characteristics that go far beyond restoring the pH level in the body. Garlic helps to support the body’s overall health. It contains Vitamin B1, Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, Calcium, Copper, Selenium and Manganese. It acts as an antibacterial food, an antiviral food, an antioxidant food, and an anti-fungal food. Let us know, have you tried the alkaline diet? What has your experience been like? After watching this video, do you plan to try anything else? Let us know in our comment section. 10 Power Foods That Lower Blood Pressure Naturally

05:47
Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is unfortunately a common problem throughout the U.S. It is a very serious condition that, if untreated, can lead to heart attacks, kidney failure and strokes. A blood pressure reading is considered high if it goes over 140/90. There are many factors that can contribute to high blood pressure, including: obesity, excessive drinking, stress, birth control pills, kidney disease, adrenal disease and genetic factors. While there are many prescription drugs that help to lower blood pressure, it can also be treated with all-natural remedies. Today’s video will discuss ten home remedies to lower blood pressure. 1. Watermelon Seeds Watermelon seeds contain cucurbocitrin, which is a compound that helps to widen blood capillaries and improve kidney function. In 2010, Florida State conducted a study that showed watermelon can help to lower blood pressure readings. 2. Lemons Lemons remove the rigid nature of the blood vessels and leave them soft and flexible. This, in turn, lowers the blood pressure level. Consuming lemon juice regularly also lowers the change of heart failure because of the high levels of Vitamin C. 3. Bananas Bananas can help to control blood pressure, when consumed on a regular basis. This is because of the high levels of potassium in the bananas that help to lessen the effects of sodium on the body. 4. Garlic Raw and cooked garlic can help lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels by relaxing the blood vessels and increasing the body’s production of nitric oxide and hydrogen sulphide. Consume one or two crushed garlic cloves per day. 5. Coconut Water To those with high blood pressure, it is especially important to keep hydrated. It is recommended that they consume eight to ten glasses each day. Coconut water is helpful in lowering blood pressure. 6. Celery Celery contains chemicals that help to control blood pressure. They relax the muscles in and around the heart and can allow the blood to flow more efficiently. Celery also helps to reduce stress hormones, which lowers blood pressure. Consume one stalk of celery with one glass of water each day. 7. Onion Juice Onions contain antioxidants that lower blood pressure. Simply consume one medium-sized raw onion per day. Alternatively, you can mix ½ teaspoon of onion juice with ½ teaspoon of honey and consume twice per day for one to two weeks. 8. Cayenne Pepper Cayenne pepper prevents platelets from sticking together and therefore, allows blood to flow more efficiently. Simply add cayenne pepper to fruit or vegetable salads, as well as in the dishes that you cook. A little cayenne pepper goes a long way, so just a pinch will do. 9. Fenugreek Seeds Fenugreek seeds contain potassium and fiber that helps to control blood pressure. To use, boil one or two teaspoons of fenugreek seeds in water for about two minutes and then strain. Place the seeds into a blender and mix into a paste. Consume the paste twice a day, once in the morning on an empty stomach and once in the evening. Use this remedy for two to three months for best results. 10. Honey Honey calms the blood vessels in the body and lowers blood pressure. Simply consume two teaspoons of honey on an empty stomach each morning. Also, you can mix one teaspoon of honey with one teaspoon of ginger juice and two teaspoons of cumin seed powder. Consume this twice each day for best results. Most importantly, if you suffer from high blood pressure, it is highly recommended that you consult with your doctor and follow their directives. High blood pressure should be taken seriously, as if left on treated, it can have dire consequences. Do you or someone you know have high blood pressure? Can Oatmeal Reverse Heart Disease?

04:34
Less than 3% of Americans meet the daily recommended fiber intake despite research suggesting high-fiber foods such as whole grains can affect the progression of coronary heart disease. Oatmeal offers a lot more than fiber, though. See my last two oat videos Oatmeal Lotion for Chemotherapy-Induced Rash (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/Oatmeal-Lotion-for-Chemotherapy-Induced-Rash) and Can Oatmeal Help Fatty Liver Disease? (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/can-oatmeal-help-fatty-liver-disease/) Trowell’s work had a big influence on Dr. Denis Burkitt. See Dr. Burkitt’s F-Word Diet (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/dr-burkitts-f-word-diet/). This reminds me of other interventions like hibiscus tea for high blood pressure (Hibiscus Tea vs. Plant-Based Diets for Hypertension http://nutritionfacts.org/video/hibiscus-tea-vs-plant-based-diets-for-hypertension/) or amla for diabetes (Amla Versus Diabetes http://nutritionfacts.org/video/amla-versus-diabetes/). Better to reverse the disease completely. Have a question for Dr. Greger about this video? Children: Obesity and Nutrition

05:02
Studies show that today's youngsters tend to be heavier than their counterparts were a generation ago, and that over 30 percent of America's school-age youngsters are now overweight. That can contribute to physical problems such as high blood pressure, limit a child's athletic abilities and impair self-esteem. We live in a society that emphasizes thinness, and an overweight child is likely to be teased by peers.
