How to Overcome Adrenal Fatigue

06:58
For more info: https://draxe.com/3-steps-to-heal-adrenal-fatigue/?utm_campaign=Youtube-Nov-2014&utm_medium=social&utm_source=youtube&utm_term=adrenalfatigue In this video, I’m going to walk you through the steps to overcome adrenal fatigue. Most fatigue problems and adrenal insufficiency come from issues with the adrenal glands. About 80% of the population deals with this common problem. There are several warning signs that indicate you may have adrenal fatigue. If you struggle with fatigue, are stressed, anxious, have trouble with concentration, poor memory, thyroid issues, or gained mysterious weight, you may have adrenal fatigue. There are three steps you will want to take to get rid of adrenal fatigue for good. The first starts with your diet. Foods to get out of your diet are caffeine, sugar, and hydrogenated oils. Foods that are high in vitamin B12 and magnesium are going to support your adrenal glands and blood sugar levels, so you will want to add these foods into your diet. Foods like coconut oil, coconut milk, coconut, olives, olive oil, raw dairy products, grass-fed butter, organic meats, loads of vegetables, and seaweed are all crucial to your diet as well. Secondly, you will want to support your adrenals by taking supplements like adaptogenic herbs (such as ashwagandha, holy basil, and licorice root), which will help your body adapt and deal with stress. Additionally, a vitamin B complex, magnesium, vitamin D, selenium will support the healing of your adrenals. Lastly, you should focus on lowering your stress levels. Try getting 8-10 hours of sleep a night, reflect and address your stressors, add fun activities into your routine, and exercise. If you follow these three steps, you will be well on your way to naturally healing adrenal fatigue. Antioxidants and Depression

(All proceeds Dr. Greger receives from the sales of his books, DVDs, and speaking engagements go to support the 501c3 nonprofit that runs NutritionFacts.org.) DESCRIPTION: Neither antioxidant or folic acid supplements seem to help with mood, but the consumption of antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables and folate-rich beans and greens may lower the risk for depression. You may have noticed I’ve started doing more mental health videos. Please let me know if that’s something of continued interest. The last few I did were: • Aspartame and the Brain (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/aspartame-and-the-brain/) • Exercise vs. Drugs for Depression (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/exercise-vs-drugs-for-depression) • Do Antidepressant Drugs Really Work? (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/do-antidepressant-drugs-really-work/) What’s the difference between folate and folic acid? I have a really old video on the subject (Can Folic Acid Be Harmful? http://nutritionfacts.org/video/can-folic-acid-be-harmful/). I’ll add it to my list of topics to revisit. Here’s some older mood ones as well, with more to come: • Fighting the Blues with Greens? (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/fighting-the-blues-with-greens-mao-inhibitors-in-plants/) • Gut Feelings: Probiotics and Mental Health (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/gut-feelings-probiotics-and-mental-health/) • Saffron vs. Prozac (http://nutritionfacts.org/video/saffron-vs-prozac/) Anything else we can do to enhance our sexual health and attractiveness? Can Vitamins Prevent Age-Related Cognitive Decline?

01:21:08
2017 UC Davis Alzheimer's Community Engagement Series This is the second lecture in a six part series offered by the UC Davis Alzheimer's Disease Center for the Sacramento Metropolitan Area and communities throughout Northern California. The theme of this year’s series is healthy brain aging and prevention. Six lectures, planned around this theme, include preventative information on healthy brain aging, vitamins and supplements, diet, alternative medicine approaches, social interaction and exercise. As our population ages, age-related cognitive decline, Alzheimer’s disease, and other forms of dementia threaten to reach epidemic proportions within several decades. Of paramount importance is the need to develop both treatments and prevention strategies. This presentation, by Dr. Joshua Miller, will review evidence that certain vitamins (i.e., folic acid, vitamin B12, vitamin B6, and vitamin D) can slow or prevent aged related cognitive decline. Dr. Joshua Miller is Professor and Chair of the Department of Nutritional Sciences in the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. His research focuses on the influences of B vitamins and related metabolites on cognitive function and risk of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia in older adults.
Combatting Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and Depression this Winter | Dr. Weston

03:46
http://www.sunwarrior.com/news/combatting-seasonal-affective-disorder-sad-depression-winter/ Winter depression or Seasonal Affective Disorder (Sad), despite only coming along for a few months each year, is as real as any other chronic or clinical depression. This emotional hibernation is only thawed by spring's sunny days. Sadness, hopelessness, lack of energy, sleeplessness, irritability, fatigue, social withdraw, and weight gain are pretty normal symptoms. Living farther north increases your risk. Females are also more likely to develop this disorder. Since the change in daylight throws off hormone and brain chemistry, you can fool the body with bright light therapy. Hit the gym to release endorphins and keep the weight off. Exercise outside if possible to get extra natural sunlight. Eat well and avoid processed sugars. Get more omega 3 fatty acids and vitamin D. Socialize with your most upbeat friends. Laugh. Play with children and pets. Wear bright colors. Take up winter sports. Pretty much find a way to experience as much joy as you can during the darkest time of year and you will make it through. -- Subscribe to our channel: http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=sunwarriortribe -- Visit us at: http://www.sunwarrior.com/ Like us on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/sunwarrior ‪Follow us on Twitter: http://twitter.com/Sunwarrior Hang out with us on Google+: http://plus.google.com/100431369190586473063/posts Follow us on Pinterest: https://pinterest.com/sunwarriortribe/

Probiotics for Depression and Anxiety

02:28
"What can I do besides taking antidepressant drugs to improve my mood?" massive question I get at least once a week and my #1 answer is.... probiotics. The body requires probiotics to produce neurotransmitters the intestinal tract is the #1 location for production of neurotransmitters. Without adequate probiotics it's nearly impossible to make enough of what the brain needs to support healthy mood. There are lots of plant-based compounds that can help with mood support including St. John's wort and SamE for more depressed mood as well as magnesium, passion flower, hops, relora and lots of others. None of these work well if probiotics aren't at optimal concentration in the intestinal tract. Psychiatric drugs are the #1 selling drug in the world. Probiotics should be! Dr. J, (James J. Mahoney DO)shares insights and information on combining conventional Western medicine with homeopathy, herbal medicine, and natural treatment. Nutritional supplements, hormonal therapies and current events in alternative medicine are all a part of "Dr. J Exceptional Medicine." Getting the best out of every system is the whole point, because when it comes to your health, "We're better together!"

The ONLY Meaningful Treatment for Mild Cognitive Impairment

05:15
The journal Neurology recently supplied us with a report that offered practitioners an update on suggested treatments for patients with mild cognitive impairment and declining brain health. Their goal is to help practitioners, like myself, understand the most viable treatment options for aiding our patients. What's groundbreaking about this most recent edition of these guidelines is that they stand in stark contrast to the longstanding advice most doctors (and patients) receive. They, in fact, have found that none of the pharmaceutical interventions suggested for treating MCI have been effective. That's a massive revelation. So what should we be doing instead? Let's discuss in today's video.

Depression Warning Signs - Strategies To Combat Depression

12:41
http://andrewroberts.com.au/4713/depression-warning-signs/ A client of mine who is a business owner reminded me recently that the difficulties faced by many starting out in business often lead to depression or depression like symptoms. When I started my business coaching business, many depression warning signs crept up on me without me even realizing. Before resorting to drugs, I would like to suggest that there are natural treatments for depression for those who find themselves in a similar position. 1. Work on getting more clarity 2. Make sure you are "On the right bus" 3. Change your definition of success and have a more flexible approach to expectations. 4. Shift focus away from yourself and towards others. 5. Remember that as bad as things get, it won't last forever. For more videos in the "Clarity" video series, please check out http://whatareyouchasing.com/resources

I did some research and found out that vitamin and minerals, in the right concentrations, along with endorphin producing exercise may help. Long-term, chronic anxiety can lead to many other health issues. While many doctors prescribe medication for anxiety, eating a healthy and well-balanced diet may help naturally control anxiety symptoms. Anxiety treatments without medication may include exercise, whole foods and essential oils. Try these ten anxiety relief techniques: 1. Ashwagandha Ashwagandha is an herb that can be used as a natural remedy for a panic attack. It has the ability to stabilize the body’s response to stress. Ashwagandha improves anxiety symptoms by destroying free radicals in the brain. It can help improve focus, reduce fatigue and ease feelings of anxiety. 2. Limit Alcohol and Caffeine An excessive amount of alcohol or caffeine can increase symptoms of anxiety, including nervousness and mood swings. To reduce anxiety symptoms, limit coffee and black tea to no more than one cup per day, and limit alcohol to 1-3 drinks per week and no more than two at a time. 3. Kava Root Kava root can be used as a natural anxiety supplement. It works by stimulating dopamine receptors in the brain to produce a feeling of euphoria, which improves mood and reduces anxiety. Kava root can produce mild side effects, so be sure to use it under the guidance of a health care professional. 4. Magnesium Many adults are magnesium-deficient. Magnesium helps the muscles relax and calms the nervous system. A deficiency can contribute to anxiety. Take a magnesium supplement or add magnesium-rich foods to your diet to boost your intake. 5. Lavender Oil Studies have shown that lavender oil can work as a natural remedy for anxiety. Researchers found the essential oil to be just as effective as benzodiazepine, an anti-anxiety medication. Put 3 drops of lavender oil in your palm and rub the oil on your neck, wrists and temples for anxiety relief. 6. Exercise The entire body benefits from regular physical activity, including the brain. Exercise helps improve sleep quality, improve energy levels and reduce stress. Whether you prefer yoga, swimming, hiking or another form of exercise, staying active can help reduce anxiety levels. 7. Roman Chamomile Roman chamomile essential oil has a mild sedative effect. It can help calm nerves and reduce anxiety. The scent of roman chamomile essential oil also helps the brain fight off symptoms of anxiety. 8. Avoid Sugar and Processed Foods Processed foods full of sugar and artificial ingredients can contribute to anxiety and depression. A diet full of sugar can cause blood sugar levels to fluctuate throughout the day, increasing anxiety, nervousness and fatigue. Skip processed foods and fast foods and stick to whole foods instead. 9. GABA Gamma aminobutyric acid or GABA is an amino acid that is responsible for decreasing anxiety and relaxing the muscles. It can be used to relieve insomnia, stabilize blood pressure and reduce anxiety. You can find GABA supplements in your local health food store. 10. Vitamin B Complex B vitamins play an important role in combating stress and regulating mood. Vitamin B6 helps boost mood and balance blood sugar levels, which naturally decreases anxiety. Vitamin B12 can also help the body fight stress, depression and other mood disorders. Take a Vitamin B supplement or add foods rich in Vitamin B to your diet. How to treat seasonal depression. SAD. Anaxiety. Fall. Niacin.

07:05
(wikipedia) Seasonal affective disorder (SAD), also called winter depression, winter blues, summer depression, and seasonal depression, is a mood disorder subset in which people who have normal mental health throughout most of the year exhibit depressive symptoms at the same time each year, most commonly in the winter.[1][2] In the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders DSM-IV and DSM-5, its status was changed. It is no longer classified as a unique mood disorder but is now a specifier, called with seasonal pattern, for recurrent major depressive disorder that occurs at a specific time of the year and fully remits otherwise.[3] Although experts were initially skeptical, this condition is now recognized as a common disorder.[4] SAD's prevalence in the U.S. ranges from 1.4% in Florida to 9.9% in Alaska.[5] The U.S. National Library of Medicine notes that "some people experience a serious mood change when the seasons change. They may sleep too much, [may] have little energy, and may also feel depressed. Though symptoms can be severe, they usually clear up."[6] The condition in the summer can include heightened anxiety.[7] SAD was formally described and named in 1984 by Norman E. Rosenthal and colleagues at the National Institute of Mental Health.[8][9] The validity of SAD has been questioned by a 2016 analysis of survey data from 34,000 adults collected by the U.S. Center for Disease Control, in which no links were detected between depression and seasonality or sunlight exposure.[10]
