Licorice Root is one of the best adaptogenic herbs for the adrenals. Licorice root and hops flowers have often been used throughout history to treat hormone imbalances and just about every female problem known. They give women that sense of well being and control. Licorice is a source of DHEA and contains phytoestrogens which help reduce the adverse effects of estrogen on the prostate and reduces prostate enlargement in men. It blocks the formation of DHT from testosterone so it helps stop hair loss. Stimulates aldosterone, a key adrenal hormone. It’s an immune stimulating steroidal anti-allergy, antiviral, antibacterial, anti-tumor, antioxidant, adaptogen, antiseptic, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory with chemical components similar to cortisone without the bad side

Recommended to take
for a month, then stop for a week or two before starting again. or two weeks on and 4 days off Licorice is not recommended for people with history of renal failure or kidney problems, liver disease or who take heart medication or steroid drugs. Do not take if pregnant. The natural plant is good for you, but avoid the store-bought standardized form that can dangerously raise blood pressure.
There is some fear and misconception about licorice root causing high blood pressure BUT the kind people have problems with is the standardized form sold in stores which is isolated in a lab which concentrates only on glycyrrhizic acid. People must use the whole licorice root powder, not the standardized form. Whole plant form has over 400 phytochemicals, which have healing qualities. Standardized form also can dangerously raise blood pressure and this is the kind that gives people problems. That’s like isolating turperntine from pine trees and drinking turpentine and saying pine trees are bad. uge difference from the whole root that’s simply dried and ground up.
Then there is also American Licorice which is slightly stimulatory, whereas Chinese Licorice is calming. That is the kind you want, and THAT is the kind I use in my formulas.
If indeed you truly have a negative reaction (very rare) to real licorice root, (or nuts or any food) then that means the liver needs cleaning. Once the liver is clean, that’s not a problem anymore. I have a Liver ebook at MarkusEbooks.com.
