Today's Alternative News Channel - HOW SUNSCREEN COULD BE CAUSING SKIN CANCER, NOT THE SUN Summer may be a long way off, but it’s never too early to start thinking about protecting your skin. For most people, this means covering themselves in sunscreen, which corporate marketing campaigns encourage at every turn. Yet, while we do indeed need protection to prevent sunburns, blocking out the sun entirely is not ideal. Rich in vitamin D, it offers a number of other health benefits, including, oddly enough, cancer prevention. We’ve been made to fear the sun, and, as a result, adults and children are choosing to drench themselves in a bath of toxic, hormone-disrupting chemicals. Science has long shown that what we put on our skin ends up in our bodies, and quickly. Multiple studies from across the world have examined sunscreen in particular, evaluating its ingredients and how it penetrates and absorbs into the skin after application. One study, conducted at the Faculty of Pharmacy at the University of Manitoba, Canada, sought to develop a method for quantifying common sunscreen agents. Results demonstrated a significant penetration of all sunscreen agents into the skin, meaning all of these chemicals are entering multiple tissues within the body. Conversely, a study published in Environmental Health Perspectives showed a significant drop in hormone-disrupting chemicals that are commonly found in personal care products after participants switched to ‘cleaner’ products. These chemicals include oxybenzone, triclosan, parabens, phthalates, and more. You can read more about that and access the study here. All of these ingredients are found within most poplar sunscreens. So, the next question becomes, are the ingredients used to make sunscreen, which are entering into our bloodstream, something to be concerned about? The science given to us by the corporations who profit from the sale of sunscreen says no, but I think by now we have established how trustworthy such corporately-funded ‘science’ is. It wasn’t long ago that Johnson & Johnson, for example, was found guilty of knowingly putting a cancer-causing baby powder on the market. This is precisely why we wanted to bring attention to an article published by the Huffington Post titled “Excuse Me While I Lather My Child In This Toxic Death Cream.” In it, mother Sarah Kallies shares how exhausted she feels trying to navigate today’s world and do the best for her children when everything, everywhere, seems to be killing us. For every purchase she makes for her children, there is science telling her it’s great on the one hand and toxic on the other, and so she highlights how confusing the consumer marketplace has become. We are dished a wealth of information that differs from source to source, on a variety of different topics, making it difficult to make even the simplest of choices without second-guessing ourselves. Yet we know the various chemicals found within sunscreens are toxic, and we know that our skin absorbs whatever we put onto it. Sunscreens Can Cause Cancer Organic Safe Options to Buy Block Sunburn
http://www.OrganicRoost.com Skin yes skin, is our largest organ so protecting it is essential. Today on Organic Roost we are going to review why mineral based sunscreens are a healthier option for your skin compared to chemical based ones. Sunscreens are designed to protect against the harmful effects of UV rays, but did you know choosing your sunscreen should be based on more than just the SPF level. So which is better Chemical based sunscreens or mineral sunscreens? Chemical based sunscreens work to absorb UV rays and you must apply 30 minutes before you go into the sun. They have a truly negative impact though, including all this crazy stuff (Text only - hormonal disruptions, low sperm count, breast cancer, can induce allergic reactions and accumulate in the body via fat cells and breast milk.) They also have the potential to oxidize in the sun, which gives it the ability to cause skin aging and possibly skin cancer. Now, mineral Based sunscreen works as a physical block to the sun's rays so it actually begins working immediately but it does only protect against the UVB rays which only protects you against sunburn .The key active ingredients in these products are zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. These are both exempt from the National Organic Program so none of these “Green Screens” can be one hundred percent certified organic but they can be made with organic ingredients. Now when you go shopping you will notice that many chemical based products have simply added the minerals to their mixture. This does not mean they eliminated the harsh chemicals. Chemicals to avoid are... (Chris playing harmonica here) (Octocrylene, Avobenzone, Homosalate, Octisalate, Octinoxate and Oxybenzone) Now if you are thinking I want the natural sunscreen but I need a broad spectrum version that covers both UVA and UVB rays, well we got you covered. We recommend the Badger line of Sunscreens that are one hundred percent certified natural, non-gmo, cruelty free and are made with 95 percent organic ingredients, plus they are lightweight. Now you can feel safe and healthy going into the sun for some summer fun. But don’t forget to apply your sunscreen every two hours or after a swim. FREE EBOOKLET http://www.sweetnaturalliving.com There's a few things in life that just about everyone loves. Sunshine is one of them. Yet there's so much fear regarding the sun. People are scared of the UV rays and there are people saying sun exposure causes skin cancer. Here's how to avoid getting a sunburn, while still enjoying the healing benefits of sunshine - no sunscreen needed! Think about it, how can the sun, the energy source of all life on this planet, be harmful to us? It's absurd. Sure, you can have too much sunlight, and that's no good, and herein lies the key to the whole issue. Too much or too little is never the best, what we want is just enough. We want just the right amount. This is true whether we are talking about eating, working, tanning or anything else. How to get enough sun exposure while avoiding getting burnt? It's all about listening to the body. We all love the feeling of the sun kissing our bodies with it's warm, healing rays. So enjoy, but pay attention! Soon enough you will notice an urge to retreat to the shade again, so do that. As you expose yourself to the UV radiation of the sun, you will build up a tolerance to it as your skin adapts to a higher level of exposure. The visual effects of this is getting a tan. The more of a tan you got going, the longer you can stay out without burning. Sunscreen, sunblock and sun lotions are all unhealthy products that you don't want to put on your skin. They are full of chemicals that are toxic to the body and will only serve to pollute your system. It also "allows" people to stay out in the sun for longer periods than what is truly healthy, much better to allow the skin to slowly adapt and build up a tolerance over time. Patience is needed. Granted, in extreme conditions like climbing a mountain or running an ultra marathon there's probably a place for a little bit of sun cream, but technically those activities aren't directly healthy in the first place. Different skin types react to sun exposure in different ways and tanning may happen faster or slower. People with a fair, northern skin should exercise extra caution when slowly building their tan whereas black people are able to stay exposed for much longer periods without getting sunburnt. Another important factor is to stay hydrated. This is best done through eating a healthy raw vegan diet of fresh fruits and vegetables that provide your with quality water and nutrients while avoiding foods that dehydrate you! Remember, human beings are frugivores by nature and our anatomy and physiology dictates a diet based on ripe, tropical fruits and tender vegetables. The raw food diet is the norm in nature! How to choose SUNSCREENS
https://www.instagram.com/drdavinlim/ Instagram- for skin care tips & more https://www.lasersandlifts.com.au My guide to skin treatments, lasers, peels, and many more https://www.realself.com/find/Australi... More before and after pictures, and real reviews How to choose SUNSCREENS? What is the BEST SUNSCREEN? Sunscreen forms the basis of skin care. It is the foundation of skin care. If there is one skin care product I can use, only one, sunscreen is it. Sunscreen can reduce pigmentation, reduce harmful UVA rays that promote skin cancer cells, collagen breakdown and solar elastosis. UV also generates free radicals that damage skin by altering the DNA. Why use free radical scavengers such as vitamin C, B and E when a good sunscreen can reduce the production of free radicals by as much as 95%? Prevention is the key to awesome skin. Sunscreens are extremely complex to understand, as they consists of many particles, and chemicals. This formulation depends on the TGA- Australian regulatory boards, the FDA in the United States and in Europe the CE Board. OK, it’s a little more complex than physical vs chemical sunscreens as many countries allow hybrid sunscreens- namely chemical as well as physical nanoparticles like zinc or titanium. To date, the regulatory boards only measure burn time or the SPF of sunscreens, not the UVA protection. In general, physical sunscreens offer more UVA protection, however brands such as La Roche with their Anthelios XL do offer high UVA protection. Avobenzone is another chemical that offers long wave protection for your skin. Here are my tips for the optimal sunscreen. 1. Firstly, pick a sunscreen that is cosmetically elegant. This means that you are going to enjoy using it. Skin is as individual as you are, so I can not recommend one particular brand. In general Invisible Zinc is cosmetically elegant and favoured by many. So are sunscreens from La Roche Posay. 2. Secondly, always use a hat or physical barrier as adjunctive sun protection. Even the best sunscreens do not protect against long, long wave UVA and visble light. 3. Thirdly apply frequently- twice a day if possible. Even more if you are going to the beach, surfing, or exercising outdoors. 4. Fourthly- use the correct amount. 5 Grams needed to cover the face, ears, neck and part of your décolletage. Physical sunscreen offer immediate protection, chemical sunscreens require application 20 minutes before UV exposure. If you ever consult me for conditions like melasma, sun spots, pigmentation, ethnic skin rejuvenation or ablative laser lifts I do apologize in advance for nagging about the importance of sunscreen use, after all it is the foundation of all things I laser. Thank you Dr Gillian Murphy for teaching me photobiology in my junior years, much appreciated as you are a fantastic mentor, and someone I always aspired to become professionally. Thanks for watching this video, and please share, comment and by all means subscribe. I make one video every week. Dr Davin Lim. Brisbane Dermatologist. Australia.

Sunscreens don't protect against Skin Cancer
Sunscreens have notoriously been shown to create problems and not just to the skin but to the rest of the body. Most of the sunscreens that exist are synthetically produced chemicals that have carcinogenic effects. The idea that the sun causes skin cancer is also unscientific. There is no scientific proof as yet to show that the sun causes skin cancer. Dad's Guide To Sunscreen 2017 | Banana Boat Sunscreen Causing Chemical Burns? | Mineral vs Chemical
WARNING! Reports indicate possible links between Banana Boat Sunscreen and Chemical Burns! Today I share what you need to know when choosing a sunscreen that is right for you and your family. There are many options when it comes to choosing a sunscreen and not all sunscreen is created equal. Every sunscreen has benefits and shortcomings, but some sunscreen uses chemicals that may actually be toxic to you and your children. These chemical based sunscreens use chemicals that can cause tissue damage, sterility, infertility, asthma, allergies, and various forms of cancer including melanoma and breast cancer. In Canada multiple children have reportedly experienced 2nd degree burns that were unrelated to sun exposure and actually chemical burns after using banana boat sunscreen. These instances are still being investigated so it is not yet proven that banana boat sunscreen is causing chemical burns to everyone, but it could be a skin sensitivity specific to certain chemicals. This is not an unusual story, when there are constant reports of sunscreens melting purses, sunglasses and other plastics. Today we hope to help you find the best sunscreen option for your family by telling you what sunscreen that the Environmental Working Group (EWG) recommends as their #1 sunscreen pick. I also share an all natural sunscreen option that you can make at home. Talking Points 1. Mineral vs Chemical Sunscreens 2. Harmful Chemicals 3. Side Effects 4. Mineral Sunscreens 5. No, The Sun Doesn’t Cause Skin Cancer! - How To Prevent Cancer With Sunshine
In this video, you'll learn why vitamin D from the sun is vital for your health and how it can prevent more cancer. Download this free e-book and learn how to boost your vitamin D levels to prevent cancer. https://goo.gl/DLWeFe Summary of video: Vitamin d benefits Vitamin D levels from sun exposure lower the risk of several diseases, such as cancer. Sun exposure helps build and maintain bone density and reduces fractures. Humans also need sunlight to control their biological clocks. Sunlight also makes you feel better. Sunlight consists of a mixture of electromagnetic radiation energy of various wavelengths. Ultraviolet, or UV, radiation, consists of UVA, UVB, and UVC. UVC never reach earth or human skin. UVA is able to penetrate deeper into the layers of your skin than UVB rays. UVB is the only form of UV radiation that stimulates the production of vitamin D. UVB rays hit the skin’s surface and creates Vitamin D3. Vitamin D3 is still inactive until both the liver and kidneys build 25-vitamin D.   When the sun is at its highest point in the sky, the UV levels are more intense. In the morning or afternoon, the sun’s radiation is weaker and make it harder to generate vitamin D. The sun’s radiation is most intense at the equator. Vit d deficiency There are several reasons we can become vitamin d deficient these include: Age Staying indoors Wearing too much clothes Too much clouds Polluttion Place with long winters Skin color The way to know your vitamin D level is to ask for a 25-hydroxy vitamin D test also called a 25(OH) D test. This test measures the circulating form of vitamin D that the liver generates before the kidneys activate it. The unit of measurement used for vitamin D is nanograms per milliliter. Aim to have a 25-vitamin D level of at least 30 nanograms per milliliter or even better 40-50. Sun exposure for vitamin d Our most abundant source of vitamin D is the sun. Most of us need only a few minutes a day of sun exposure during the summer months to have healthy vitamin D levels. The goal is not to get tanned. You should only get enough sun exposure to maintain healthy 25-vitamin D levels. If you live in a place where you can't get enough sunshine, then there are other ways to get vitamin D.It’s almost impossible to obtain an adequate amount of vitamin D from your diet. Therefore the only other sensible way to get vitamin D other than the sun is through supplements. There are two types of vitamin D used in fortified foods and supplements, Vitamin D3 and D2. Vitamin D2 is as effective as D3 at raising vitamin D levels. Skin cancer sun The pharmaceutical industry started our fear of the sun. Aggressive “educational” campaigns funded by the cosmeceutical industry created an anti-sunshine hysteria. They convinced everyone that no amount of unprotected sun was safe. The campaigns made people fearful of the sun, and their sales soared. Sunscreens There is little evidence that sunscreen prevents most types of skin cancer.Until recently, most sunscreens blocked only UVB radiation and not UVA rays. The sunscreens enabled people to stay unprotected against UVA rays for unlimited periods of time.  That raised the risk of melanoma in the United States and other Western cultures. When you wear sunscreens, you can't generate any vitamin D. Instead of using sunscreen wear more clothes to protect your skin. Or stay in the shade. The most common sunscreens on the market contain chemical filters. Oxybenzone in sunscreens can cause allergic skin reactions. You have a decreased risk of developing colon, prostate, and breast cancer if you maintain adequate vitamin D levels. There is no credible scientific evidence that moderate sun exposure causes melanomas. Regular, moderate amount of unprotected sun exposure is necessary for good health. People who get regular, moderate sun exposure are less likely to get melanoma than those who don’t get enough sunshine. If you avoid getting sunburned, the benefits of sun exposure will far outweigh the cons. This contact could lead to cancer of the nasal path or skin cancer and even leads to breast cancer etc. 2. Hormonal Disruption: Some of the chemicals present in sunscreens come in contact with our body by getting inhaled; this is when you smell the sunscreen or apply it close to your nostrils. Inhalation of these chemicals can be very harmful and might cause hormonal imbalance. the key hormones like testosterone, oestrogen etc. may be affected. 3. Affects Reproductive System And Thyroid System: The chemical components of sunscreens such as titanium dioxide, oxybenzone, octinoxatemay cause hormonal imbalance. These imbalances affect the body systems such as reproductive system and thyroid system which could result in a number of health conditions such as hyperthyroidism, hypothyroidism, conception issues, infertility, breast cancer, etc. Thus it is important to always check the components for any harmful chemicals on label before using any sunscreen or instead go for natural products. 4. Skin Allergies: The chemicals present in sunscreens may be toxic and harmful for the skin and the skin might react to them in various ways. The chemicals might result in redness, skin rashes, frequent breakouts, and pus and cysts formation in severe cases. However, the skin allergies due to chemical present in sunscreen vary from person to person and skin type. Not every skin type will react; those with a sensitive skin should especially stay careful against chemical sunscreens and do a patch test before using it all over. 5. Acne: The sunscreens usually have chemical ingredients which make a thick film on our skin; this film helps to then reflect away sun’s rays thus preventing damage. The chemicals forming this film tend to block and clog the skin pores which causes build of bacteria ultimately causing acne. Acne can also occur since the sunscreens usually have an oily base; this excessive oil is a growing field for acne. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- -Copyright Disclaimer- Title 17, US Code (Sections 107-118 of the copyright law, Act 1976): All media in this video is used for purpose of review & commentary under terms of fair use. Avoid skin Cancer, Sunscreen Causes Cancer, Use Organic Sun protection
Lack of sunshine causes skin cancer. The sun provides vitamin D which helps prevent skin cancer is blocked with UVA/UVB protection. Avoid burning!!! Best way is to gradually increase sun exposure until you tan. There is an increase in UVA/UVB sun in places riding on the equator and they don't have skin cancer in those places. Dozens of chemicals are packed into over the counter FDA approved sunscreens that have charceinogens. These chemicals if found in any of our packaged food products would be band off the market so why is it ok to be on our skin which gets absorbed into the body and goes straight to our liver?! The leading cause of skin cancers are sunscreens themselves!! Wait up to 48 hours after sun exposure to wash your body with soap so the vitamin D has time to absorb into our body for protection, it's fine to wash your goods and under your arms. I have 5 sunscreens available to buy and will ship immediately. We want good nights sleep to increase the night hormone melatonin best times are between 9:30pm-1am. The Truth about Sunscreens
Sunscreen chemicals are hazardous to our health and the environment. After 40 years of use, the incidences of melanoma and skin cancers have continually climbed rather than being reduced as they have been promoted to do. Dr. Plourde presents highlights from her book Sunscreens -- Biohazard: Treat as Hazardous Waste. Pervasive use has led to these chemicals now being found in the 97% Americans' blood streams even in 90% of those who claim to never have used them. The result is that sunscreen chemicals are now found in the lakes, rivers, and oceans of the world, leading to plankton and coral death. Potent hormones, mice demonstrate both general and reproductive problems, and fish exposed to them become what researchers term "intersex", as well as identified to be accumulating in larger species up the food chain. Passing through the blood-brain barrier, as well a through the placenta, they are capable of killing brain cells and causing DNA deletions in mice offspring. The book includes an entire chapter on the antioxidants that have been proven to protect the skin from solar radiation, allowing chemical-free safe time in the sun. This presentation was recorded at the Doctors Symposium at the 2011 Cancer Control Society Convention in Los Angeles. The slides shown were taken from Dr. Plourde's book: Sunscreens -- Biohazard: Treat as Hazardous Waste.

Dangers of Commercial Sun block
Natural sunblock. Can you get all natural sunblock in stores? It's hard to find with commercial sun block and chemical sunblock. I'll tell you what to look for. But what's wrong with most commercial sunscreen? Since we don't consume sunscreens there is a lot less regulation allowing companies to put whatever they want in it and many of the toxic ingredients in there ironically have been proven to cause cancer. --------------------- Visit Bill Farr on 🌺 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/theartofunity/ 🌺 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/theartofunity 🌺 Twitter https://twitter.com/BillyFarr 🌺 Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/TheArtofUnity/ 🌺 Google+: https://plus.google.com/+Theartofunity 💜 SUBSCRIBE on Youtube - https://www.youtube.com/c/theartofunity?sub_confirmation=1 ---------------------- But just so you know the sun is not the cancer-causing demon these commercial companies would have you believe, The sun provides that best source of vitamin d you can get. This vitamin D is helpful in the fight against cancer. And so you know, Since the angle of the rays makes a difference, the ideal time to get vitamin d is usually between the hours of 11:30 and 1pm. In the blog, I will have a video showing when is the best time based on your region. And you need to expose about 80% of your skin for about 15 minutes on each side. After that, your skin can run the risk of damage because like anything else too much of it can be dangerous. I don’t often use sunblock or screen because I don't spend much more time than that in the sun and I mostly use coconut oil that is said to have an SPF of 4 by itself and has been used for thousands of years by indigenous Pacific islanders. I also take zinc and astaxanthin and vitamin e supplements which is like a sunscreen protecting you from the inside out. They also help against radiation and I’ll have links for the brands I like and more info about that in the blog . When buying sunscreen it is important to understand uva and uvb rays. UVA rays are primarily responsible for skin damage from excessive sun exposure that can lead to cancer and skin aging. The UVB on the other hand are responsible for cancer protection and obtaining vitamin d through your skin. But it’s also important to understand that almost all Commercial Sunscreens are full of toxic cancer causing ingredients that you should never put on your skin. According to the Environmental Working Group (EWG) approximately 75% of commercial sunscreens contain toxic chemicals that are linked to cancer and disrupt hormones. In the blog associated with this video, I’m going to have a list of ingredients to avoid in sunscreen, but as a rule if you can’t pronounce it, and wouldn’t eat it, than avoid it. you also want to watch out for nano particles because these go directly into your pores and travel in your bloodstream. So always get non-nano. So stop eating these and get on healthy fats and you’ll notice a dramatic difference in your skin for the better. Sunscreen Science: How They Work
Send a virtual consult to a U.S. board certified dermatologist at http://www.onlinedermclinic.com UV radiation is divided into shorter wavelenght, more energetic UVB (290-320 nanometers) and longer wavelength, deeper penetrating UVA (320-400 nanometers). UVB is associated more directly with skin cancer (via damage to DNA in our skin cells) and sunburn. UVA can also help cause skin cancer, but it is more linked to tanning and premature aged appearence of the skin. Protecting against both forms of UV rays is important.. Sunscreens were initally developed in the late 1920's, and by World War II, were in widespread use in the Pacific theater (red petrolatum). Patented in 1943, PABA (para-aminobenzoic acid) was the first commercially available, very effective UVB chemical sunscreen. The FDA regulates sunscreens as over the counter drugs to ensure efficacy and maintain safety standards. The sun protection factor (SPF) used on sunscreen labels only refers to the amount of UVB protection offered, although sunscreens with higher SPF numbers (30 or above) do offer some UVA protection as well. Generally speaking, the SPF represents the ratio of how much UVB radiation is required to cause sunburn (minimal erythemal dose) in sunscreen protected skin versus unprotected skin. For example, applicaiton of an SPF 8 product provides sunburn protection 8 times longer than unprotected skin. A sunscreen with a rating of SPF 15 filters about 94% of UVB rays, and SPF 30 blocks about 97%. In recent years, specific UVA filters have been developed (see below). The FDA has developed a 4 star rating system for assessing a product's ability to absorb UVA rays and, will be implemented in December of 2012. Traditionally, sunscreens have been divided into chemical absorbers and physical blockers. Chemical absorbers do just that; these organic compounds absorb UV radiation and convert it to heat. Most chemical absorbers proctect against UVB radiation only (PABA, padimate O, cinnamates, saliacylates, octocrylene, ensulizole). Some absorb both UVB and UVA (benzophenones), where as stll others are excellent UVA absorbers (Parsol 1789, Helioplex, and Mexoryl SX). Most commercially available sunscreens use a combination of these chemical absorbers to maximize protection and water resistance, and minimize problems (such as staining of the skin, degradation upon exposure to sunlight, interaction with each other, and irritaion or allergy). Products that contain physical blockers work by reflecting or scattering UV radiation over a broad spectrum. These compounds are inorganic particulates, and by far the most commonly used agents are zinc oxide and titanium dioxide. Iron oxide is occasionally used as well, primarly because it's reddish hue can mask the white opacity of the former two blocker. Until recent years, these products have not been as widley used because of cosmetic unacceptiablilty (i.e. a white hue when applied). However, more recently, microsizing the particles has resulted in much more aesthetically pleasing formulations. These products are broad spectrum, don't degrade easily in sunlight, very rarely cause irritiation or allergy, and are often used in childrens' sunscreens. Because a significant porportion of our vitamin D requirement is obtained via UV dependent cutaneous synthesis (the remainder being of dietary origin), there exists controversy over the possible roll of regular, correct sunscreen usage in the production of vitamin D deficiency. Most studies suggest, however, that in pratical terms sunscreen use has little effect on vitamin D status. Those at most risk of vitamin D deficiency are persons who are housebound, elderly, darker skin type, or live at northerly latitudes. In December of 2012, the FDA's new requirements for sunscreen labeling will take effect. In order to claim "broad spectrum" protection, a product will have to demonstrate UVA protection (1 - 4 stars) and have an SPF of at least 15. Terms such as "waterproof," "sweatproof," and "all-day protection" will no longer be allowed. Sunscreens will be rated either water resistant 40 minutes or water resistant 80 minutes. Products that meet or exceed these criteria may assert that they protect against sunburn, skin cancer and premature aging. The FDA is also considering capping the SPF at 50+. Proper application of sunscreen is important. Select a broad spectrum sunscreen with a vehicle appropriate for planned activities (e.g water resistant 80 rating for swimming or expected heavy perspiration). Apply liberally and uniformly approximately 15 to 30 minutes before heading outdoors. While wearing swimming attire, an average adult should apply about 1 ounce of sunscreen (a golf ball sized amount). Reapply every 90 minutes if swimming or perspiring. Adopt other sun protective behaviors, such as seeking shade, broad-brimmed hats, appropriate clothing and sunglasses.
