For decades, we have relied on antibiotic drugs such as penicillin. Unless you were particularly young, elderly, or physically weak, you didn't need to fear cuts, bruises, or basic operations. The Virus That Kills Drug-Resistant Superbugs

14:33
Antibiotic-resistant bacteria kill 23,000 people every year in the United States, and the United Nations estimates that by 2050, more people will die from antibiotic-resistant infections than currently die from cancer. Discovered 100 years ago, bacteriophages—viruses that eat bacteria—might provide an answer. But phage therapy has only been approved for use on humans in the former Soviet Union. Motherboard travels to Georgia to meet the doctors using phage therapy today, and meets with the American scientists trying to normalize phage therapy in the United States. Why You Shouldn’t Take Antibiotics for a Cold or Virus

01:05
Patients sometimes request an antibiotic when they have a cold or other viral illnesses. However, not only are antibiotics not effective against viruses, taking them in these situations puts the patient at risk for unnecessary side effects, allergic reaction or long-term antibiotic resistance, says Matthew Farrell, MD, a Family Medicine physician at Ohio State’s Wexner Medical Center. Antibiotics - What You Need To Know

See much more honest health information at: http://www.rehealthify.com/ Rehealthify offers reliable, up-to-date health information, anytime, anywhere, for free. -- video script below -- Antibiotics are powerful medicines that fight bacterial infections. Used properly, antibiotics can save lives. They either kill bacteria or keep them from reproducing. Your body's natural defenses can usually take it from there. Antibiotics do not fight infections caused by viruses, such as • Colds • Flu • Most coughs and bronchitis • Sore throats, unless caused by strep If a virus is making you sick, taking antibiotics may do more harm than good. Each time you take antibiotics, you increase the chances that bacteria in your body will be able to resist them. Later, you could get or spread an infection that those antibiotics cannot cure. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) causes infections that are resistant to several common antibiotics. When you take antibiotics, follow the directions carefully. It is important to finish your medicine even if you feel better. If you stop treatment too soon, some bacteria may survive and re-infect you. Do not save antibiotics for later or use someone else's prescription. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Antibiotics and Viral Infections What your doctor isn't telling you with Dr. Alan Christianson

07:21
Antibiotics, Do you need them?: A guide to viral infections with Dr. Alan Christianson http://drchristianson.com/blog Do you need to take an antibiotic? Life comes at us fast, with ous schedules we can’t afford to be sick. We become desperate! Let’s get to the question. Our four vulnerable areas are ears, throat, lungs and sinuses. Multiple symptoms in those areas equal a virus. Let’s talk about the illusions of viral infections. Symptoms last from seven to ten days. It goes from not bad to awful in this time. In the latter stages you will start questioning if you need an antibiotic. Then you say, “Hey, I am done with this. This has gone on for too long, and I just need this gone!” This is day seven or eight. The next two days, you magically get better. An important fact is viruses are typically a 10 day issue. It often feels as if the antibiotic fixed the issue. Really, it did not, as the symptoms would have gone away in that time frame anyway. In some moments however antibiotics are need. Let’s take a look: The throat: Strep throat benefits from antibiotic treatment. In most cases, strep throat is just a bad, painful throat without a runny nose, ear pressure or a cough. The ears: Although it isn’t as common for adults, some get complicated ear infections. If they do, they will not commonly have a runny nose or a sore throat. The symptoms will be more localized in the ears, along with fever and some pain. The lungs: If you have a very productive cough, fever and fatigue (probably without a sore throat, a runny nose or ear pressure), you could have pneumonia. It does take a chest X-ray to confirm. Listening to the lungs is not perfect in most cases. If you are listening closely, you might notice I didn’t address one area: the sinuses. In many levels of my training, I was taught sinus infections take a long time to get rid of, so patients probably need two courses of antibiotics. Sinus infections take about three weeks to go away. Antibiotics or not sinuses will take three weeks. If you do take an antibiotic, your odds of having more sinuses infections that year are 50% higher than if you did not. So, if you do take an antibiotic for a sinus infection, it won’t go away faster, but you have a good chance of getting sick sooner than you would otherwise. I am not against antibiotics, but by very conventional guidelines, Antibiotics are not much help with a mixture of symptoms like bronchitis and flu. One note about the flu: There is a treatment, called Tamiflu, which is kind of like an antibiotic against influenza. The data says it isn’t helpful. Here’s a trick to treating viruses. Viruses shed themselves by sweating more than anything. When kids get sick, they get high fever, and then are done. As adults, we do not have that kind of vitality. Here’s how we do it: At bedtime, prepare some ginger tea. Fill the bathtub with water that is as hot as tolerable. Put extra blankets on your bed and wear sweat clothes. A silly amount of clothes. Jump in the tub for about fifteen minutes, while drinking some warm to hot ginger tea. Ginger is a diaphoretic warming you up internally. Once you have cooked yourself pretty good in the tub, wear the sweat clothes in bed with blankets, while you sleep. After a few hours of sweat, throw off the clothes and go back to sleep. you will awaken and will have kicked the virus! You will have have broken the cycle. This method is a stronger antibiotic for most, common, respiratory infections and has no side effects! How Are Viral Infections Diagnosed and Treated?

25:03
http://balancedhealthtoday.com/ellagica.html http://www.balancedhealthtoday.com/store/ellagica.html Symptoms Symptoms vary widely, depending on the virus and the organs involved. Many viruses, like many bacteria, cause fever, and either respiratory symptoms (coughing and sneezing) or intestinal symptoms (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea). Viral illnesses often cause high fevers in young children, even when the illnesses are not dangerous. Diagnosis Some viral infections, such as influenza, the common cold, and chickenpox, are easily recognized by their symptoms and no lab tests are needed. For many others, such as viral hepatitis, AIDS, and mononucleosis, a blood sample is analyzed for the presence of specific antibodies to the virus. If present, these antibodies help confirm the diagnosis. In some cases, a virus may be grown in the laboratory, using a technique called tissue culture, or identified by its nucleic acid, using a technique called polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Tests like PCR or tissue culture are used when antibody tests are not precise enough or when the actual amount of a virus in the body must be determined. Treatment Viruses cannot be treated with the antibiotics that kill bacteria. Fortunately, a few drugs, such as ribavirin and acyclovir, can control the spread of viral invaders without destroying host cells. Intense research to find better treatments for AIDS has led to development of many drugs that help fight the virus. Unfortunately, none of these drugs has been able to treat viral infections as effectively as antibiotics treat bacterial infections. http://www.balancedhealthtoday.com/store/ http://balancedhealthtoday.com/products.html

7 HERBS THAT CLEAR MUCUS FROM YOUR LUNGS AND KILL VIRUSES

7 HERBS THAT CLEAR MUCUS FROM YOUR LUNGS AND KILL VIRUSES. Modern society and lifestyles have brought about numerous diseases and ailments, and the antibiotics and medicines we use are even more dangerous and cause addictions, severe side-effects, and antibiotic resistance. The thing is, antibiotics can’t kill viruses, only bacteria. Antibiotics cannot destroy viruses because they can only target the equipment/structures found in bacteria. Since viruses don’t have this “stuff” inside of them, the antibiotic has nothing to attack. On the other hand, we know of certain plants and herbs that can attack viruses (and bacteria). ......................... Apple cider vinegar It is made from ripe apples. It is rich in potassium. The lack of potassium is linked to slow growth and it caused runny nose, sinusitis, brittle teeth and nail and hair loss. Using it regularly eliminates these health problems. It eliminates the toxins from the body and kills parasites. It is rich in pectin, a fiber that normalizes the blood pressure and decreases bad cholesterol. ACV stimulates the calcium extraction from the food it is combined with and the results are- strengthened bones. It is also rich in malic acid which can fight bacterial and fungal infections. It alleviated joint pain because the malic acid dissolves the uric acid deposits. As apple cider vinegar breaks up fat easily, it is great for weight loss. It beta-carotene content fights the free radicals and it keeps the skin fresh and firm. ACV can treat many conditions like headache, constipation, mild food poisoning, chronic fatigue, sore eyes, eczema, diarrhea, increased cholesterol levels, indigestion, obesity, high blood pressure, hair loss, weak bone and arthritis. http://beautyandappearance.com/cure-infections-kill-parasites-diy-antibiotic/

WHO: Antibiotics don't cure viruses like colds and flu

00:16
Antibiotic Resistance is one of the biggest threats to global health today. It is rising to dangerously high levels in all parts of the world, compromising our ability to treat infectious diseases and putting people everywhere at risk. The World Health Organization is leading a global campaign ‘Antibiotics: Handle with care’ calling on individuals, governments, health and agriculture professionals to take action to address this urgent problem. Working together, we can ensure antibiotics are used only when necessary and as prescribed. Antibiotics are a precious resource that we cannot continue to take for granted—we need to handle them with care. For more information and to learn about how you can support the campaign visit: http://www.who.int/mediacentre/events/2015/world-antibiotic-awareness-week
Antibiotics explained in Simple and Fun Language | Urdu\ Hindi | My Channel Video | Goher Ali Rizvi

What are antibiotics, how do they work and why do we see resistance in antibiotic.. this video answers all these questions. Alexander Fleming discovered in 1928 when he found Pencillium and Penicillin was found. There are two types of Antibiotic Bactereostatic and Bactericidal Bother antibiotics have different mode of action and play major role in immunity. Antibiotics are only available against Bacteria but not virus. Antibiotics stop DNA replication or stop its metabolism or it also stops its enzyme or substrate. Penicillin kills the bacteria by rupturing its bacterial cell wall, thereby killing bacteria but not harming our body cells. usage of antibiotics also effect normal flora of our body which becomes a challenge are a lot of our functions are dependent upon them. Antibiotics kill our helpful bacteria as well thereby disturbing our normal functions of body and causing side effects. Evolution of bacteria and their mutation caused a war between scientist and bacteria as they started mutating against antibiotics and we had to made newer and newer generation of antibiotics while bacteria kept challenging us. Disclaimer: at last of my video i mentioned that antibiotics should be used as last resort, But be very clear to follow complete instruction by your doctor as your doctor knows what is best for your health and condition. This video is for educational purposes and doesnt encourage taking any medication or using antibiotics just by watching this video. Why don't we use Viruses to Fight Diseases for Us?

Check out the partner video: https://youtu.be/XE-SA030lqo Antibiotic resistance is becoming a big problem, some strains of pathogens are now resistant to all antibiotics normally used in hospitals. But there is an alternative, using viruses that infect bacteria, bacteriophages, to fight the battle for us. This isn’t a new idea, in fact, Phage Therapy predates antibiotics; and for a time was greatly effective and uses in the Soviet Union. So why did Phage Therapy not find use in the west. This Syrup Is 10x More Powerful Than Penicillin (Kills All Infections And ...)

04:06
This Syrup Is 10x More Powerful Than Penicillin (Kills All Infections And Bacteria From Your Organism). - - - Infections and bacteria can attack you in any season. In the winter season, the spread of flu is quite common. The immune system has been ready to fight the infection. However, whenever our immune system fails to fight the infection we take help from antibiotics. But nowadays many infections are caused due to drug-resistant viruses. In such cases antibiotics does not help to cure the health condition. Moreover, antibiotics have a long list of side effects and thus, it is better to avoid frequent intake of antibiotics. In order to improve the strength of the immune system, there exist natural remedies which are much more powerful than prescription drugs and antibiotics. Here is a recipe for a natural remedy which is times more powerful than antibiotics to treat respiratory infections, persistent cough, sore throat, asthma, chronic bronchitis as well as breathing problems. Homemade Powerful Penicillin: The recipe requires only 3 ingredients which are affordable to everyone and the process is so easy that you can prepare at home. Things you need: 1. Garlic cloves 3 to 4. 2. Water ½ cup. 3. Organic apple cider vinegar ¼ cup. 4. Organic honey ½ cup. Process: 1. Take 3-4 garlic cloves and crush them properly. 2. Add ¼ cup of apple cider vinegar along with ½ cup of honey to it. 3. Stir it properly and add ½ cup of water at the end. 4. Store the solution in a glass jar and leave it overnight to get a homogenous mixture. 5. Strain the mixture in the morning and store in the dark and cold place. 6. If you are suffering from infection then take 1 tbsp of this solution after every couple of hours until you get rid of the infection. 7. If you are not sick but want to boost your immune system then take 4-5 drops of the solution every day. 8. Use this remedy for a month time and your immune system will become stronger. You can add this solution to your daily routine to remain healthy. Health benefits of the ingredients: Garlic is termed as an important ingredient in alternative treatments to cure the respiratory problems. It has antiviral and antibacterial properties which help to boost the immune system. It also has the capability to fight the mutation changes in the viruses. Thus, it is very effective to fight mutated and new viruses. It consists of a compound called allicin which is provided to be 10 times more powerful than penicillin. With the combination of all the healthy properties, garlic is recognized as super food which helps us to remain healthy all the time. Apple Cider Vinegar helps to fight the viruses and bacteria due to the antibacterial and antiviral properties. It also stimulates the immune system to protect us from infection. It consists of beneficial bacteria, enzymes and trace minerals which are very important to promote overall well-being and health. Honey is proven to be the best ingredient to treat cough and sore throat. It has anti-inflammatory and soothing properties which help to provide relief from irritation caused by infection. The organic honey is a rich source of vitamins, enzyme, minerals and antioxidants which help us to remain healthy all the time. So, now onwards just avoid the overuse of antibiotics and switch to the natural method to boost your immune system.

3 Best Viral Infections Home Remedies To Cure Fever, Cold & More

01:28
LEARN VIRAL INFECTIONS REMEDIES for fever, runny nose, sore throat, body aches & diarrhea etc. Viruses are organisms that are much smaller than bacteria and fungi. They infect a cell and replicate (grow in number) inside the cell. After a while the cells in which the virus resides ruptures and the newly formed viral particles are released out which then infect other cells. Viruses can enter a person by inhaling or swallowing or when bitten by insects like mosquitoes, flies or ticks or by direct physical contact with an infected individual. Virus infections involving nose, throat and the respiratory system are most common. Some of the viral infections can be treated using home remedies for viral infections. Here are the common virus infections found: Viral fever(Influenza) and pneumonia are common examples of this kind of viral infections. Respiratory infections are more likely to happen in infants and older people. These are the most common form of viral infections. In this video we have discussed the home remedies for viral fever and other viral infections like runny nose, sore throat, viral fever, body aches, dehydration & diarrhea. Other less common viral infections are gastrointestinal tract, liver infection by hepatitis virus, infection of nervous system caused by rabies or polio, viruses that affect only the skin cause warts or blemishes while some like chickenpox cause rashes. Some of the viruses are more dangerous as they cause cancers. These viruses alter the DNA of host cells in such a way that they could become cancerous. Examples of such viruses are Epstein-barr virus and human papilloma virus (HPV). Some viruses like HIV that are transmitted by sexual contact can lead to immune deficiency and can eventually lead to death. * Some of the symptoms that can be observed during a viral infection are:- • Runny nose • Sore throat • Rashes on skin • Fever and body aches • Diarrhea • Dehydration • Nausea and vomiting. Treatment of a viral infection is mostly depended on symptoms. * Viral infection treatment home remedies:- 1. Honey For Viral Infections: • Honey mixed in tea or directly taken is an effective cure for sore throat caused due to viral infection. 2. Salt Water For Viral Infections: • Gargle with warm salt water at least twice a day. It helps in relieving sore throat. 3.
