Year-end Sales Account Planning to Increase Your Competitive Advantage
By Jim Pancero - http://www.pancero.com Most "business-to-business" sales teams do some type of year-end account planning or forecasting during this November-December time frame. But the majority of that sales planning... while still valuable... does little to impact the selling efforts of your sales people. What kind of account planning or forecasting are you implementing as you prepare for next year? Most reps are usually only asked to supply forecasted product or equipment volumes and margins from their territories. This does provide your team with a positive plan for the year...but the majority of plans I see only focus on the financial expectations of a sales territory. Most year-end territory planning only asks "Who" and "What" questions of the team. "WHO do you plan to sell next year and WHAT do you plan to sell them? That type of forecasting does a great job of planning and predicting the sales transactions you expect your reps to generate...but it does little to discuss and plan actually how they'll achieve these forecast expectations. I believe in "SWAT Team Selling"...selling as a consistent team with defined selling processes...multiple-stepped selling structures...a strong message of value and uniqueness...and ongoing future-focused coaching from a sales manager. Transactional managers ask "Who" and "What" questions of their team...focusing on identifying the transactions they plan to close and what products...services or equipment will be sold.

Operational planning is the process of planning strategic goals and objectives to tactical goals and objectives. It describes milestones, conditions for success and explains how, or what portion of, a strategic plan will be put into operation during a given operational period, in the case of commercial application, a fiscal year or another given budgetary term. An operational plan is the basis for, and justification of an annual operating budget request. Therefore, a five-year strategic plan would typically require five operational plans funded by five operating budgets. Operational plans should establish the activities and budgets for each part of the organization for the next 1 – 3 years. They link the strategic plan with the activities the organization will deliver and the resources required to deliver them. An operational plan draws directly from agency and program strategic plans to describe agency and program missions and goals, program objectives, and program activities. Like a strategic plan, an operational plan addresses four questions: Where are we now? Where do we want to be? How do we get there? How do we measure our progress? The operations plan is both the first and the last step in preparing an operating budget request. As the first step, the operations plan provides a plan for resource allocation; as the last step, the OP may be modified to reflect policy decisions or financial changes made during the budget development process. Operational plans should be prepared by the people who will be involved in implementation. There is often a need for significant cross-departmental dialogue as plans created by one part of the organization inevitably have implications for other parts. Operational plans should contain: 1. clear objectives; 2. activities to be delivered; 3. quality standards; 4. desired outcomes; 5. staffing and resource requirements; 6. implementation timetables; and 7. a process for monitoring progress.

Recruiting Ad for Business Development Account Executives / Sales Associate/Sales Manager (Comprehensive Training Provided) Home Sweet Home is currently hiring Business Development Account Executives (BDAE) to work in a Business-to-Business capacity. We also offer a Sales Associate position (with opportunity for advancement to Sales Manager). Please be advised this is NOT a multi-level-marketing (MLM) company. Here are the details about the 2 positions available: Overview: Both career positions have a six-figure income potential. Business Development Account Executives (“BDAE”) require experience in at least one of the 2 industries (Real Estate or Lending) and must have a working knowledge of real estate and understanding of lending concepts and practices. The BDAE professionals will be required to travel to offices and visit - IN PERSON - management and loan officers. This position mainly focuses on making contact and building relationships with lending professionals. Sales Associate/Manager positions do not require experience in the field of real estate or lending, however, sales experience is preferred but not required. Sales Associates are expected to earn at least $500 - $1,000 per week. Our company offers a unique "Home Ownership Program" (“HOP”). We are the leader in this "niche" area that is so badly needed in the Real Estate Industry. You can work in the Real Estate and Lending Industries Nationwide. You can also work in conjunction with real estate agents, landlords, insurance companies and investors as well. A phone, computer, and the internet are required for this position. We are also seeking applicants who are Bilingual – Fluent in English and Spanish. There is a HUGE demand for our program in the Hispanic market. Applicants will be provided the necessary training via our Getting Started Success Training Manuals. Sales Associates and Managers are expected to complete each one of the learning modules. Each module covers the core activities and expectations for the position we are offering so as to maximize the income of our sales force to the fullest extent possible. Experience & Expectations BDAE positions require real estate industry experience Sales Associate and Sales Manager positions - prefer a sales background but not required. If the applicant has little or no sales training or background, Home Sweet Home will provide the training necessary to ensure success. READING AND LEARNING IS REQUIRED. Teleconferencing is required for goal and teaching augmentation of company-related learning materials and topical considerations. MUST be a self-starter. MUST be able to dress professionally. Tattoos and piercings MUST NOT be visible at anytime with business dress. MUST be able to follow general directives. MUST have a professional, positive attitude at all times. Criminal Record - Depending upon the type of infraction, time and gravity (Applicants may or may not be approved). Producers may qualify for an expense account. Job Duties If you are working as a BDAE, your primary focus needs to be contacting loan officers to convert their “turn downs” (applicants who can’t get funding) so these lenders can enroll their declined applicants in the Home Ownership Program. Calling a list of loan officers and office visits will be required for all BDAE positions (with professional dress REQUIRED). If you are a Sales Associate, you will be tasked with promoting the Home Ownership Program as your primary focus . If you are working as a Sales Manager, you are expected to earn even more income. You will be tasked with building and managing a team of other salespeople who have an interest in sales and real estate. Your main focus will be recruiting a professional team of salespersons and training them professionally with promoting and selling the Home Ownership Program. Doing so allows the Sales Manager to make additional income based on his or her team production.
