At some point this is going to affect my bottom line, and that means a LOT less of my favorite raw green juice deliveries and date nights to Pure Food & Wine -- unacceptable!! You know what I do whenever I'm having any kind of diet/detox/digestive disaster... I call my superhero, raw food chef, detox expert and colon hydrotherapist Mike Perrine, to the rescue. It's about thriving, allowing your foods to nourish your body and send your soul soaring! There are many ways to eat a raw foods diet. Ironically, some of these ways are not healthy at all. Eating FullyRaw focuses on thriving via a low fat raw vegan lifestyle (80/10/10), which emphasizes consuming more fruits and greens than gourmet prepared dishes with nuts or seeds. My diet consists primarily of fruits and greens, which are the most nutrient dense foods. These foods have brought me absolute health, and I want to share my healthy lifestyle with you! 10 Easy Steps to Start Eating a Raw Food Diet: 1. Stock up on Fruits! (Throw out ALL junk and make SURE that you have enough in your house to last you at least a week!) 2. Make your first meal of the day a juice or smoothie. (32-64 oz) Try my Holy Grale, V8 Juice, or Orange Spinach Basil Smoothie! YUM! 3. Make your second meal a huge platter of fruit! Eat all the fruit that you care for and preferably mono-meal. This is the easiest on digestion. Examples of a fruit meal are bananas (7-15), oranges (10-15), pears (8-10), grapes (whole 2 lb bag), apples (7-10), persimmons (10), etc. Gravitate towards sweeter fruits because these have a higher calorie ratio per unit of volume. If you are worried about not being able to eat as much as you need, remember that your stomach is a muscle and that it can expand AND contract when "exercised" properly. Yes, you can eat more expensive fruits (berries, cherries, etc)-- it's personal and monetary preference! 4. For your dinner, eat a small plate of fruit and a large salad! Start with juicy fruits like citrus (5-6 pieces) and end with a GIANT Rainbow Salad. Consume about 1-2 heads of leafy greens if you can. (Without Dieting) Why do some people eat a lot but never gain weight? 'Metabolism' is the reason why they can eat everything without gaining weight, while others eat less and still gain weight. WHAT IS METABOLISM? Metabolism is the process by which food is broken down to release energy. Your metabolic rate reflects how much energy your body requires to carry out its basic functions like breathing, eating, sleeping, digesting food and more. If your basal metabolic rate (BMR) is high, you burn more calories, even while resting. Your metabolism is determined by multiple factors, including genetics, age, gender, thyroid problems and hormone levels. Women have a slower metabolism than men because women naturally have a higher body fat percentage. LIFESTYLE RELATED REASONS FOR SLOW METABOLISM: - Lack of exercise - Low muscle mass - Irregular eating habits - Eating too much fat - Crash dieting - Protein deficiency - Too much alcohol - Stress and lack of sleep HOW TO INCREASE YOUR METABOLISM? 'Increasing the metabolism' is the holy grail of weight watchers. It is a quick, safe, healthy, natural and effective way to permanent fat loss. Here's how you can do it: (1) Start Weight Training - BMR is much higher in people with more muscle. - The more muscle you have, the more calories you burn even when you are at rest. - Every pound of muscle uses about 6 calories a day, just to sustain itself, while each pound of fat burns only 2 calories. - So start lifting weights and build muscles in order to improve your metabolism. (2) Add HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) to Weight Training - Do 30 minutes Run-Walk workout: Walk for 2 minutes then run for 1 minute. Keep doing this for 30 minutes. - Some other HIIT activities are sprint intervals, treadmill intervals, kick boxing, jump rope, resistance sprints, football and tennis. - HIIT burns more calories in short period of time and improves your BMR. (3) Eat Every 2-3 Hours - Each time you eat, you stimulate your metabolism for a short period of time, which means that the more often you eat, the more you will increase your metabolism. - Eating small meals every 2 to 3 hours feeds muscle and burns fat. - Frequent eating doesn't mean eating junk food. - Make each mini-meal complete with a serving of vegetables and a healthy source of protein. (4) Eat More Protein - Include healthy sources of protein in your meals such as lentils (Indian dal), whey protein, spinach (palak), chickpeas (channa), kidney beans (rajma), broccoli, cheese, paneer, soybeans, yogurt, milk, lean beef, turkey, fish and egg whites. - It helps you build muscles. (5) Eat Metabolism Boosters - Eat a tablespoon of chili and pepper in your food to increase your metabolism. - Add ginger in food to speed up the body's digestion process. - Have a green tea 3-5 times a day. It can burn up to 80 extra calories without any effort. WHAT YOU SHOULD AVOID? (1) Crash Dieting The worst thing you can do to your metabolism is 'starve yourself'. Although crash diets may help you lose weight, but you will lose muscles mass as well. The lower your muscle mass, the slower your metabolism. (2) Late Night Eating When you sleep, your metabolism slows down because your body doesn't need energy. It turns any unneeded food into fat. (3) Too much cardio It will actually burn your muscle tissues. A better way to boost metabolism through exercise is to start a strength-training routine along with cardio. Almost any foods marketed as diet foods or weight loss products may contain more sugar, fat or other ingredients that will actually hinder your weight loss efforts. Some of the most commonly eaten unhealthy health foods include foods like cereals, protein bars, healthy chips and crackers, bottled juices, "lean" microwave meals - all of which we are lead to believe can help us lose weight. It's very likely you are currently retaining 4 pounds or more of water weight -- you need to get rid of this extra weight. To do it, you need to know what the deal with this unwanted weight is. When your body is not supplied with the amount of water it needs, it goes into "alert mode" and starts accumulating more and more water. In other words, the body goes back to working like it did thousands of years ago, when water was scarce. Back then, extra water weight helped people survive the rough conditions; today, it just makes people feel fat and with swollen bellies. To fight a bloated stomach, you need to trick your body into making it believe there's plenty of water available, and that there's no need to carry the extra water weight. The simplest way of achieving this it to drink lots of water all the time. Once you start, you'll body will realize it doesn't need the stored water any longer, and will trigger a signal to release it from the body. The elimination process will happen pretty quickly. If you drink more than 3 liters of water per day -4 or 5 if you weight more than 175 pounds-- you can lose 4 ½ pounds of water weight in 3-4 days. An extra benefit is that drinking a lot of water speeds up the metabolism, making it burn more calories and fat. Listen, I know that the prospect of drinking a lot of water is not very exciting, but it really works, so do it. To wrap up the water subject, prepare yourself to go to the bathroom more often. The next thing you need to know about are the 6-9 pounds of decomposing matter and feces that you are carrying at the moment, and that are hindering your body from working correctly. Fruit is FAST FOOD, easy to bring ANYWHERE and easy to prepare. Sometimes it's as easy as peeling a banana. Done. Aim for 700-800 calories. If you're still hungry you can eat more. I have given lots of diet advice on this blog already, but some people just want a meal plan to follow. So, you asked, and I have answered. Here is a meal plan for a single day. But first, you need to know about the... Foundations of Eating For Weight Loss Find your BMR -- you don't need to count calories but you do need to find your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate). This refers to the number of calories you burn during the day - while you are at rest. Next, divide by 5/6 meals -- when you have the BMR, divide the number by 5 or 6. This will give you the number of calories that you need to consume during each meal. This number does not need to be absolutely accurate. It should be an approximation. Know which foods to eat -- this is very important and will be explained below. Prepare your meals 24 hours in advance -- it is important that you always stay ahead of your schedule. If you don't stay prepared, you are very likely to eat some junk food, or processed food, during the day. Forget caloric deficit -- this is not important at the moment. I don't count calories, but I am aware of what I'm eating. Try to be conscious of your meal portions but don't obsess over it. Keep these 5 concepts in mind when reading the rest of this article. The Meal Plan OK, let's get into the actual meal plan (it is based on the 5 concepts above). 1st meal (options) Breakfast -- eat your breakfast within 30 minutes of waking up. This will rev up your metabolism and set you up for success for the rest of the day. Best option: Aim for eggs, bacon, turkey and avocado. This is the best way to get the high quality fats and protein into your system. Backup option (when busy): protein shake and fruit is the next best option. You could also try gain-less granola and fruit. Or almond butter and fruit. 2nd meal (options) (2/3 hours later) Protein shake and fruit Hard boiled eggs Almond butter Protein bar Nuts seeds and fruit 3rd meal (options) (2/3 hours later) Chicken Tuna Shrimp salad Sweet potato Veggies Steak Fruit Almond butter Avocado and nuts Small amount of white rice NOTE: all of the foods listed above (the first 3 meals of the day) are interchangeable. You can mix them around to your own tastes. 4th meal (options) (2/3 hours later) - You need to eat leaner foods as you get closer to bedtime. Protein shake without fruit Almond butter with celery Veggie sticks Macadamias 5th meal (options) (2/3 hours later) Salmon and veggies Seafood Steak Chicken Avocado A little dark chocolate Glass of red wine 6th meal (options) (2/3 hours later) --this is the last meal of the day. It should be every lean (protein and fats only) Lean meats Veggies Handful of almonds That is a sample meal plan that promotes fat loss. Notice that the meals are very lean closer to the end of the day. This will keep your metabolism charged up without storing any fat. The Most Important Take Away Message If you look at the foods listed above you will notice a few commonalities. These include: No processed foods. No refined carbohydrates. No sugar. No grains or wheat. You will also notice that all the foods are listed are whole foods. This is very important and the best way to get started. **Counting calories is not as important as many people imagine. If you eat only whole foods, you will start to lose weight. As you do this over the weeks, you can then begin to focus more on caloric deficit and get leaner still. However, to begin with, don't get hung up on every calorie. It will just cause stress and lead to cortisol in the body. If you follow the 4 principles above you will certainly lose weight. This is exactly how I lost 30 pounds of fat in under 120 days. Use the principles, and the meal plan, above to ignite your fat loss efforts and feel full and energetic.

One of them is called the fruit diet weight loss plan. I wanted to make some comments about this diet plan. It is advertised as one of the quickest ways to lose weight, while eating healthy foods. This is only partly true. Fruits should be eaten in a normal meal plan, as they are very healthy (lots of antioxidants) and can help you to drop weight and feel great very quickly (if people have been eating lots of processed foods). Here are some of the benefits of eating more fruit: Lose weight and flush out toxins Eating lots of fruit is good for more than just losing weight. Here's why: fruits are one of the best detoxifiers for the human body. It is these toxins that lead to diseases and fat gain over time. It has been shown that many of the toxins found in the body come from the fat in the body. Toxins are also found in the build up of unprocessed foods in the intestines. By eating more fruit, this material can be flushed out, which leads to detoxification. And during all this time, your body is being flooded with high quality nutrients and vitamins (from the fruit). What's involved in the fruit diet? Simply stated, you can eat fruit whenever you want to. This means anytime you feel hungry, you can grab a piece of fruit. There is no limitation. Many people don't consider fruit a meal, but you may be shocked at how quickly you feel full. And your hunger pangs will soon disappear. It is very important that you drink plenty of water on this type of diet. Aim for at least 8 glasses of water each day. Which fruits should I choose? Firstly, start your day with a glass of warm water, with 2 tablespoons of honey and half a freshly squeezed lemon. From there, fruits such as apples, strawberries, watermelon, and any kind of citrus fruit are the best to choose. Aim for lots of citrus fruits as they are low in sugar and come with lots of fiber (great for a smoothly running digestive system). The grapefruit is one of the best to choose. Choose apples also, but aim to buy the smaller ones first. These are better for you as they contain pectin, phosphorous and potassium. The pectin is an oily substance found on the intestine wall. This keeps your bowel movements regular. Why I don't endorse the "fruit diet weight loss plan" Fruits are very important for optimal health. And they are perfect for losing weight and cleaning out your system. You will feel lighter, have more energy and a smaller waist line if you add fruits as part of your weight loss program. However, fruit should never be the only food group that you consume. Your body requires protein, fats and carbohydrates to function as it should. I encourage you to read my article on how I ate to get to 8.3% body fat. The other foods groups are needed to lose weight (in fact, they are essential). So, you should certainly eat raw fruit, make fruit salads and snack on fresh fruit during the day. Variety is important. But you also need to eat lean meats, veggies, eggs, nuts, berries and so on. When he's training for a contest, Jay likes to stay home to prepare his food, leaving nothing to chance. "I like to weigh everything," he says. "[Precontest], I take my diet very seriously." Nonetheless, Jay's immense caloric expenditure means he eats food that most clean eaters would avoid. "Having a turkey sandwich and some potato chips is great for me," he says. "I'll have a Snickers bar every once in a while." To keep his size, Jay also needs a pretty consistent fuel of insulin-stoking simple carbohydrates. "Dense, fibrous carbs don't hit my body hard enough." He may not like having to eat as much or as often as he does, but Jay has the experience and willpower to do it well. If i would say that, it would be so incoherent to saying to eat under 1000 cals which literally is STARVING YOURSELF. WHAT DID I SAY AT 11:20-11:25? I said "SOUP" can fill you Up. (btw soups with creams are Fattening). Foods That will help you see results in 2 weeks: Lemon / Lime Pineapples Apples Prunes (After or Before every meal {CAN ALSO BE USED FOR SNACKING). GreenTea ( For 3 - 4 months [MORNING + LATE AFTERNOON + EVENING] half an hour after every meal. Oolong Tea / Wulong Tea (After 3 - 4 months). half an hour after every meal. Honey + Lemon + Hot Water (Before Sleeping). TIPS & WARNINGS: Green Tea & Oolong is best from either a traditional Chinese market/store or Walmart. Do not add too much honey to your prior sleep drink because it can cause heartburn as normal honey does. Do not Eat over 5 - 6 Prunes a day. It might cause irritation to your bowl movement. Do not go overboard with Pineapples and Apples just because it helps burn fat. Everything should be eaten in healthy quantities. Fruits can cause uncomfortable bloating or a beautiful gassy BUM!!! hahahaha Eat frozen yogurt instead of regular Ice cream. Hope I haven't missed out any important Tips or Additional Information. A rabbit diet is actually really, really simple, because the main part of a rabbit's diet should be fiber, preferably grass. Now, having rabbits eat grass in most rural or suburban areas can be a little dangerous because of possible parasites. One that we worry about a lot is raccoon roundworm, if you're in an area, as we are, the New York area, we have raccoons all over the place. And as they go through your yard, or look through your garbage, they are defecating, and they have a roundworm called Baylisascaris procyonis, and if the rabbit picks that up from the ground, and grooms it off his feet, it's lethal. There's no cure and there's no treatment. So we encourage people to keep their rabbits indoors, and to feed them grass hay that is clean and this is an example. There are many companies who will ship you grass hay, and this is an example of a really lovely, nice fresh green hay. Speaker 2: Like timothy hay? Or mountain grass? Speaker 1: This is timothy hay. Speaker 2: And you want to make sure that it can breathe, right? You never want to keep it in a closed... Speaker 1: That's right, and this should be the main part of a rabbit's diet. If you use hay, as you see it here, if you use hay in the rabbit's litter box it's great, because the rabbit will sit there, as a wild rabbit does in your back yard, and he'll eat and poop in the litter box, and he'll increase his intake of hay just by being there. We actually have a hay pyramid here, a rabbit food pyramid, you can see that the whole bottom of the food pyramid is hay, and then on top of hay we have a section for leafy greens, and on top of that a section for rabbit pellets. And rabbit pellets, nowadays you can usually get a high fiber pellet pretty easily from different companies. You should measure the rabbit pellets, this is a set of scoops that you can buy in just about any home goods store, and we feed about a quarter of a cup of rabbit pellets per five pounds of body weight, per day. So this rabbit is not yet five pounds, so I'm going to scoop out a quarter of a cup, there's your quarter of a cup, and then I shake out a little bit, just because he's not a five pound rabbit, and I put that in his dish. Speaker 2: Once a day? Speaker 1: Once a day. That will be his pellet serving for the day. And he never needs to go hungry, because when he finishes his pellets he has hay, he has hay available all the time. So, the real juicy question is the one about treats. Speaker 2: Treats, and also how much leafy greens? And can they eat any kind of leafy green? When you say, leafy greens, like sometimes if your iceberg lettuce isn't good, kale you don't keep your eye on... Speaker 1: Yeah, most people don't feed iceberg lettuce, mainly because it doesn't have any nutritional value. So the dark green leafy vegetables that we use most often are things like romaine lettuce, any of the green leaf lettuces, dandelion greens, parsley, cilantro, oregano, dill, basil. Speaker 2: And you should check, there's probably online a list of things that you can't have. Speaker 1: There are. Actually you can do an online search for safe rabbit vegetables. Some people avoid the cruciferous vegetable family, and those are the vegetables that smell strong when you cook them, like broccoli, cauliflower, those vegetables. Actually a lot of people feel that the cruciferous vegetable will predispose a rabbit to gas, so I've been doing an experiment over the past few years, giving small quantities of broccoli, because my rabbits love broccoli, and nobody has gas. So, sometimes you don't know how much of this received wisdom is from somebody's thoughts, or if it's from actual experience, so you might want to just try small quantities of any food you're giving your rabbit. Once you're able to eat regular textured foods, here are some things that you should probably try to avoid, initially, or at least take your time in eating. So, after weight loss surgery, you want to be careful eating anything that could expand when it gets wet. This includes really doughy breads or even sometimes rice. This isn't to say that you can never eat these things again, but the first time you try them after your weight loss surgery, you should try very small amounts because you don't want it to get stuck in your new small stomach. Other foods that you should avoid after weight loss surgery are things that are very high in concentrated sweets. Things, obviously, like candy, cake, cookies, or other foods that are just high in carbohydrates, like pasta, bread. In small amounts they may be fine, but in particular, after the gastric bypass, your body might not be able to properly digest high carbohydrate foods and you may feel sick for a short time after eating them. For the most part, after weight loss surgery you're able to eat most foods that you were able to enjoy before, however, just in much smaller quantities. And you also want to make sure that you take your time to chew very well and enjoy what you're eating. So, these are just some examples of foods that you should avoid after weight loss surgery.

That may sound alarmingly small, but there are actually many painless—even delicious—ways to reduce your sodium intake. 4) Do more home cooking. The main factor is the thermic effect of food which is the calories it takes your body to break down and absorb the food. I'm Susan Bowerman, Registered Dietician, and today we're going to talk about how to build a healthy, low-calorie diet. If losing weight were simply a matter of eating fewer calories than you burn every day, you could lose weight eating nothing but ice cream as long as you kept your calorie intake down. But that's no way to take weight off obviously; you'd be missing out on plenty of vital nutrients. And while cutting calories is certainly key when it comes to weight loss you have to do it wisely. Smart weight loss is a lot like smart shopping with the calories you have to spend, you want to get the best nutritional value you can. And that means that when you have nutrient needs to fill and fewer calories to work with every bite needs to be nutrition packed. A well designed weight loss plan emphasizes nutrient-dense foods like vegetables and fruits, lean proteins, whole grains and low-fat dairy products that deliver the best nutritional value for the calories you're eating. But it takes a lot of careful planning and there's not a lot of room for extras especially if you're trying to keep you calories in the range of 1200-1500 per day. Build your diet by starting with healthy fruits and veggies first. Bite for bite, these are the lowest calorie foods in your diet, and they provide plenty of fiber, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. And, they can go a long way toward meeting your carbohydrate needs. Next, add in your healthy proteins fish, poultry breast, low-fat dairy products, eggs or egg whites, beans, or soy products, and protein powders that you can use for your shakes. Protein foods help keep you full and satisfied, but you need to choose carefully. A small steak could have twice the calories as the same size piece of fish, and easily cost you 400 calories or more. From there, you'll want to add whole grains as your calories allow. At roughly 100 calories for a typical serving, larger people and those who are more active can afford to eat more of these foods than smaller people or those who don't get much activity. Whole grains do provide you with fiber, vitamins and minerals, and are more healthy than refined grains like white rice, white bread, regular pasta so opt for the whole grains whenever you can. Lastly, keeping your fat intake on the low side is one of the best ways to curb calories, since high fat foods add up so quickly. You get fat naturally from many foods that you eat, so you don't really need to add it to your food at all. Of course, fats add flavor which is why we like them so choose wisely, and focus on eating small amounts of healthy and flavorful fats like nuts, seeds, avocado and olive oil. Many sugary foods, like dessert, are high in fat, too so save those for special occasions. If you really crave something sweet at the end of a meal, get in the habit of having some fresh fruit instead of a rich pastry or ice cream.
